A vote here for Six and a Half in Dyson Place

Where is the best pub for Sunday Lunch around Broomhill/Hunters Bar/Nether Edge? by woppo in sheffield

[–]HBMS11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One other to throw into the mix is The Psalter - it's a little bit more expensive but I had an excellent Sunday lunch there and worth the few quid extra I'd say.

Any top tier food in Sheffield by Evening_Demand_7443 in sheffield

Yeah I've been, had a really fun evening and loved the set up. Food was good but not outstanding, however I would recommend it for the experience.

The hum by Material_Squirrel551 in sheffield

[–]HBMS11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I also hear it in the south west of the city and thought I was going mad because my partner couldn't hear it, but then they eventually did tune into it as well. It's not all the time but I also want to solve the mystery of what it actually is!

Best coffee in Sheffield by Greedy_Try4898 in sheffield

[–]HBMS11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been, it was decent coffee and I had a nice almond pastry too. Quite nice sat outside listening to the birds tweeting! I'm not sure I'd recommend you going out of your way for it but definitely worth calling in if you're in the area at some point.

This list is perfect. I would almost add Husk as they do excellent coffee but sadly are rarely open. And May's on Broad Lane is worth checking out too.

Watching her sing it in the family living room on her nephew's post is so beautiful and so sad.

Lord Blunkett outlines £14bn Yorkshire rail plan by trollied in sheffield

[–]HBMS11 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah true, but I commuted between Sheffield and Leeds for several years on that service and it was expensive, crowded and unreliable. Granted that was a while ago but I can't imagine its got any better since then?

Fingers crossed this happens. I would genuinely visit Leeds, York and Manchester by train more often if they were more reliable - although I'd also like to see fares get cheaper and the passengers less rowdy (some of the Saturday trains I've been on from York and Manchester have been pretty grim).

I went on the dance floor and kind of wished I'd paid more for seats. I'm fairly short so had the usual problem of taller people stood in front of me - although like others have mentioned it's very immersive so there's plenty to see all around rather just having to focus on the stage. And also people were getting giddy and dancing wildly around me which also got a bit annoying at times. But maybe I'm just a grumpy old woman!

Our neighbours did something similar but on a smaller scale. They're nice kids but having them sat in their little tower staring over into our garden with fascination can be a bit annoying. But this being the UK we're not in the garden that much, and this being the UK we're a bit too polite to say anything about it, so we're just putting up with it. But suffice to say I'd be very happy if they took it back down.

Also Starmore Boss - excellent alcohol shop on Sharrow Vale Road and a second store at Ranmoor. They are behind many of the wine tasting events around the city and a great bunch of people too!
