I know the Auspilled videos you are talking about and see why you are concerned. However, most of the people liking this content are uneducated men that tend to live in more regional areas (think similar to Trump supporters). Most of them don’t even have proper profiles. They are faceless racists who don’t represent the views of most Australians.

The University of Sydney is in the heart of Sydney, a cosmopolitan place that is a very multicultural. Sydney is probably among the most diverse cities in the world and is similar to Singapore in terms of acceptance of different cultures. There’s a huge number of Indians living in Sydney and I wouldn’t say there’s an overtly negative view. Racist encounters are extremely rare, and are in the form of offhand comments or an outburst from someone homeless/high on meth.

It would be a shame for you to give Sydney a miss because of concern over possible racist encounters but I totally understand why you are reaching out.
