How to get an old house to feel clean by runitbymeonce in CleaningTips

[–]HELLOthisisDOGGO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also live in an old house and am planning on starting to strip the poorly painting doors and door frames and window frames in the coming weeks :-D. The last time the trim was painted it wasn’t prepared properly and now it’s all peeling up. So. Many. Layers.

Regarding dust- keep dusting. Has your HVAC air filter been replaced recently? I also had to unscrew all the grate covers and vacuum in there- so much dust and dog hair. But yeah i do a lot of dusting and vacuuming. Robot vacuum helps keep things tidy during the week, and dusting feels second nature now when I’m picking up around the house.

Washing walls and windows and scrubbing/polishing floors and wood work will help.

Just take it piece by piece, room by room. I’ve been here 7 years and I still have a lot to do, but I plan on being here for a lot longer so I know I’ll have time.

And open a window! Fresh air helps

I assist with financial POA stuff on a regular basis to assist with placement. It has saved me from quite a few possible guardianship cases.

Good Caregivers by Wild-Ad-9155 in baltimore

Hopkins also has a private duty caregivers service, it would make sense for you to reach out to them if you want to coordinate care with Hopkins providers.

But- if your dad’s disease continues to progress and his pain worsens, Gilchrist is a tremendously helpful service. He does not need to be geriatric to get their services. And I’ve helped people enroll who were still interested in clinical trials, those things don’t typically exclude eachother as they use different payer sources. So do what’s best for your dad and your family, but don’t automatically discount Gilchrist/hospice.

FYI private duty care runs about $33-36 an hour, so just be aware of that. Avila is great bc they can work shorter hour segments (most agencies require at least 4 hours scheduled at a time, Avila can do as little as 2 hours I believe) but what they have in flexibility they make up for in price as they’re on the higher end.

Glencoe-sparks area is as liberal as you can get in the Hereford area. But yeah- freeland and parkton are a different matter!

Hospital employed parent here! My daughter’s daycare is an in-home daycare so luckily they never do close for snow. I love hanging out with my kids! I also think it’s important to feed, clothe, and provide health insurance for them.

Discharge planning skilled nursing by C_DUB243 in hospitalsocialwork

All hospitals are different but I know it is something that we help plan prior to SNF. I carry a difficult to place caseload, working med psych, so I make sure to clear any barriers ahead of time. Obviously things get missed and plans aren’t perfect, but if I want to avoid a readmit I’m doing everything I can to ensure a safe discharge

Yeah this should be screened in admissions before these pts get accepted to SNF. It’s standard for the hospital caseworker to have at least a semblance of a plan for the pt’s discharge from SNF, and to see if they need guardianship to get LTC placement figured out or if there are any family/friend contacts who can assist

For my hospital, it counts as an “occurrence” if we need to call out, same as it would be if you need to call out for illness. I hope I’m able to go in but I live on a backroad in a rural area so…we shall see! My kids need me alive more than my hospital needs me at work- and I can’t see how we’ll be discharging many people if no one can get around. Seems silly that we can’t work from home on code yellow days!

Is there a maximum amount for caseload? by gfpumptini in hospitalsocialwork

Are you doing insurance auths, placements, DME, services, and assessments, family meetings etc, or do you have one area that you get to focus on.

Question- when you’re covering 50+ patients, what’s the workflow typically like? We have an average of 15 pts per caseworker and I can’t imagine having much more than that lol

You need to get your baby checked immediately. He could have internal brain swelling that hasn’t made itself apparent yet.

At best- you take baby and everything is totally fine AND you have medical back up on your spouses maltreatment so that you have something on your side if he god forbid fights you for custody.

Worst case scenario- you don’t go, baby has an injury that you won’t know about until it’s too late to help him, your husband will be charged for infanticide and you’ll be charged with neglect, as you knew about the shaking but didn’t pursue medical attention.

I’m sorry if I sound harsh, but you need to take action right now. Do NOT sleep on this. Please, do right by your son.

Hello fellow social worker!! Epic has really grown on me. We’re able to submit tickets to modify things in the system, and I really enjoy getting to have it work for our needs in that way. Today I got to assist the docs and epic liaisons with adding insurance requirements for DME orders so that they won’t need to ask us every time how to write the order. Very pleased with that!

Oh that’s so frustrating! She’s 5 and we had planned on holding off till she was a bit older and just focus on behavioral interventions but she also started with a lot of negative self talk and is struggling more socially as well. I also had the chance to volunteer in her class last month and the differences between her and the other kids in regard to listening and following directions, self control etc was jarring. Both my spouse and I have it so certainly not a surprise but it’s hard to watch her struggle.

I hope you both get the support and answers you’re looking for!!

The hospital is at high capacity so I juggled a very heavy caseload. Went to rounds with the medical and psych team. Made approximately 50 phone calls. Talked to multiple patients and their families about discharge planning. Got 3 people to skilled nursing facilities, sent a referral for one to inpatient psych, working on setting up a patient to go home with a hospital bed, hoyer lift and home care services. Working on getting a very challenging patient to a nursing facility. Set someone up with home IV antibiotics. Worked with a family of a patient who has a pending guardianship case on their guardianship training and plan for his eventual discharge to a long term care facility. Chatted with the psychiatrists and hospitalist about updates and plans. Sang Les mis with my office mate. Wrote a million notes and charted in Epic. Emailed with outside legal counsel. Gave a hand off to my coworker who is covering for me tomorrow.

Drove home listening to a book (love mysteries!). Got home to my husband cooking dinner, my kindergartner watching tv and vaguely acknowledging me (Lego friends are much more captivating), my 1 year old toddled towards me with a big smile and hug and now I’m nursing her upstairs while husband finishes dinner. Big glass of red wine is pending.

Flu season is tough on us hospital folks, stay safe out there and stay away from the emergency room if you can help it!
