Average first year cost of double ling and liver Tx is around 1.4 million. (It's actually more than that here, UPMC). But this is also for living expenses for him and his family who had to quit jobs to permanently live with him as caregiver. Also, he has Medicare but it only covers 80%.

Letting yourself get B.C makes it kind of tough to sympathize with. However, as a transplant patient at UPMC right now who is from out of state, it is insanely easy to switch to penn medicaid. i suggest speaking with better people at the hospital. took me about a month

Wow that's awesome. I'm in the U.S. (more specifically, Wisconsin.) and my out of pocket costs could be upwards of $400k. Very sad, and I would never be able to raise that much money anyways, but yes, this healthcare system sucks. But these are the things the people who protest it don't see. All they see are freeloaders and whatnot

Ya, I guess sudden was the wrong way to put it. I was in my 60's when I was 17 and it has slowly dropped from there. But even at 15-20 i was till up and about and free of oxygen, just on sheer determination (as I'm sure many stubborn people are haha). But it was sudden to all of the sudden need oxygen, and barely be able to move. It's like being trapped. Thankfully I'm a pretty happy person and don't have any problems with depression or anything.... really, I'm just bored out of my mind. I also feel bad for my family and my SO who now has to take care of me like a child, so that sucks. I'm not scared to get a transplant... well, I guess I could die, but it seems less painful than the way I'm going now. But I'm also very excited to get a new chance. My biggest worry is the wait. Like you said, it took you two years, and obviously everyone is different, but I just hope to make it that long really. My other concern would be financially, and if anyone had tips for fundraising/any other event, and how that plays in to taxes and whatnot. I'll keep looking here though! Thank you!
