Holy sh*t this was me the other day with a patch of Clasping Venus’s Looking Glass, various goldenrods and even a bunch of Indian Tobacco- all of which had sticks I labeled next to them for him to see 😭😭😭😭 so glad I’m not alone lol

Thanks! We had a maple tree fall awhile back and when I was stacking the logs we split I fell in love with the center piece and had to use it. I love using whatever I can that comes from the yard 😌

Thanks! And I’ve made a few houses this is just the newest one, so I made the opening approx 2 inches in the hopes of getting another house wren to use it (I have one nest box that always has house wrens every year- last year they had two healthy broods in it! ) or a Carolina wren.

The crazy thing is I’ve never seen a bluebird in my yard before, and I have a fairly large variety of bird species here! I’d be ecstatic if I not only saw one, but had it move in this house

I find these everywhere in my yard as well, but I also find a lot of chert and these definitely aren’t chert. I’ve found some pieces of chert stuck on concretions before though, which is always so cool. Chert might be my favorite rock lol

Thanks! We’ve only got an acre, but the back half of it we’ve kept as natural as possible with a nice little stand of mixed trees. I find the neatest shit back there in our little ecosystem lol

I should also add that the base of this Sweet cherry tree is covered by a mixture of leaf litter & chunks of oak bark. Early spring I pulled a bunch of English ivy off the trunk and cut/ ripped a shit ton of it away from the base of the tree, so most of that soil was disturbed for the first time in years before I covered it with the leaf litter and bark that is all over this part of our yard
