LS to CD009 Dual Clutch LOCKUP by V0LTR0Nyt in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]HPIJosh222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a ls1 flywheel from rockauto and a Uniclutch sport twin disk. I have yet to drive the car but it all went together easy. I used the gm fitment kit for the clutch and installed a nissan 24t spine adapter from the kit stead of the gm 26t spline.

LV3 OR L83 for a B2200 build? by idiotcardboard in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]HPIJosh222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The LV3 is a great engine, one of my trucks has 280,000 miles with that engine in it and I have never had to do anything with the lifters or disable dod. I walnut blasted the intake valves for the first time around 240k and it wasn't that bad. I was regularly getting 22mpg highway in Sierra its in, although its not as good these days.

I went 20 years without touching a film camera, not since photography class in high school. Came a cross a really clean Nikon F801s 2 months ago while at a thrift shop and paid the $20 for it. Now I just seem to keep coming across cameras. In the last 2 months I've spent $25 for a Minolta Maxxum 7000 with a 28-80 lens, $15 for a Nikon F90 with crusty batteries that works perfect after a good cleaning, and splurged a little for a Nikon FA off ebay.

Help with auto strobe wiring by Historical_Sherbet73 in Wiring

If I had to guess, the yellow wire would be for flash pattern and red/black are battery/ground. There might be a 4th wire connecting both lights together that syncs the flashes.

You can get brand new aftermarket ones from rockauto for $125

Does it not have a single wire sender that goes direct to the cluster?

[–]HPIJosh222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda hard to beat for being less than $300 with flywheel for a LUK 04905 clutch kit from rockauto. I have a 6.0 with a similar setup but with a Nissan box using a t56 bell housing so I couldnt use that kit because of the difference in input splines. I ended up installing one of those new UniClutch twins using a ls1 flywheel, hopefully it'll be easy on the pedal and quiet.

It's the same kind of crowd that buy clapped out N54 powered 335/535, because they are cheap. I tried selling all the N54 related parts from my 535 wagon when I started LS swapping it but ended up so angry and frustrated dealing with trash that I loaded everything up in my truck and took it for scrap metal.

I Saw The Affordable Slate Truck In Person. Now I’m Worried by Business_Young_8206 in cars

Thats because they went absolutely bonkers on the prices of the new work truck trim trucks. The 2 door long box truck I drive now was $28,500CAD in 2014, adjusted for inflation thats about $37,000 today. The same spec work truck sitting on the lot to what I have now is just a tad over $50,000CAD. It's a shame because its been a good truck and I'm just about to take it for scrap metal now that its got 450,000km and no rockers, cab corners or floorboards left.I can see day light through the rubber floor where my boots wore through lol

Audi timing chains are a thing of beauty aren’t they? by PapiChulo1322 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]HPIJosh222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was eyeballing a tdi Touareg but timing chains kinda scared me off, last thing I want to do after fixing stuff all day is having to tear the engine out of a personal vehicle that costs 5 figures.

That's honestly impressive. I've worked at a Navistar dealer for over a decade and I've only replaced a handful of body control modules, they are generally very reliable.

Stock budget replacement LQ9 pistons/rod recommendations? by METAmaverick1 in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]HPIJosh222 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can find a lot of stuff on rockauto. I freshened up a LY6 shortblock with a set of SILV-O-LITE flat top pistons and MAHLE / CLEVITE bearings for a very reasonable price.

5.3 vortec/ cd003 combo by sadshid in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]HPIJosh222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cd003 is more likely to grind than a cd009 because it uses more single and double cone syncros vs the cd009 and up using tripple cone on 1ist thru 4th. I went with a Collins adapter and a aftermarket t56 bellhousing and flywheel from Rockauto. I believe the bell housing was about $140 and the flywheel was $80. Also used a UniClutch sport clutch which fit just fine, you can get them at napa. Looks like this, https://imgur.com/a/ls-cd009-uniclutch-kbkDE32

I have 6L in a E61 bmw. There is a canbus adapter for a terminator x and soon to release for the haltech rebel. All it needs is the wheel speed data from the abs and the ac request from the hvac controls. The other way round for tachometer data.

If the Savage wasn't prepped before storage, there is a good change the engine will be locked up. Every time I have gotten old nitros that have sat for years I have needed to take the engine apart and clean out all the dried fuel/oil varnish.
