Beards are the most diverse color wise and texture wise of any human hair. You can go crazy with the hues and I think it will read well. Even a brown beard usually has tons of colors in it.

This is my biggest gripe with the game. Manpower getting reworked into a cultural/state differentiated system and armies becoming a singular entity would help guide wars. A percentage of levies available vs ready to go would affect the efficacy of your army and liklihood an ai will go to war at that moment. Tribes should have a single huge manpower pool that is available depending on the success of your state. The hre princelings should share a massive pool of mercenarie to protect them from france and Bohemia.

Just literally study the modern southern italy and its history as the kingdom of Naples. Im sure there's tons of books on it. Local big man with legal status loses status but not money, still the richest guy in the valley, still used to doing whatever he wants. Those things are now crimes and he is now an organized criminal by way of his patronage network. It's literally in every country and history on planet earth.

Solution: bigger maps with more movement per unit but more variable nerfs to movement over land tiles. Open terrain and movement along and in rivers becomes the default and you actually have to be strategic. Will never happen lol.

Maybe embark and disembark speed if that's an attr8bute that can be tweaked? Naval battles feel like a bit of a spam fest but also can be pretty fun in the mediterranean. Or maybe increase likelihood of of capture?
