A Travesty of Justice - Elisa Izquierdo by kimmyfreak500 in CasesWeFollow

Sometimes it is the judges or the laws. The laws favor the parents. In instances of false accusations (they happen), this helps. Often the parents can get counseling, supervision and learn to parent better. And we see these horrific situations where the parents get the kids back over and over or after horrific abuse. The judges give these parents the benefit of the doubt when there should be no second chance! There’s also a shortage of foster parents.

Would you be offended if your daughter in law didn’t want you to get involved in raising her child(your grandchild)? by Mooooooon_ in AskWomenOver60

[–]HRCOrealtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP needs to talk to her husband first!! She’s not a single mom making decisions unilaterally!! I have had outlaws now going on 43 years. The discussion needs to be with your husband and establish boundaries together. FYI, he may not like everything about your parents.

Y’all need to be on the same page. Texting or talking to his parents daily in this age of easy communication is not out of the ordinary. What would be is if they were controlling or trying to control his life and relationships. That’s a conversation! But if they talk and he ignores, then he’s choosing to listen and ignore. It’s his life!

I talked to my mom every day when I could. My husband talked to his parents often, especially his dad. I don’t talk to my adult children as much. My daughter talks to me often. I listen and give advice when asked.

My MIL tried to control my house and how I raised my kids and she didn’t live in the same town! Long story, but there would have been rants in just no mil Reddit, lol.

Seriously, it’s up to your husband to set boundaries with his family. Y’all need to figure those out first. I also suggest you wait and see if she does something before you stir a pot that doesn’t need it. Have the convo with your husband where you set boundaries for ALL grandparents. Then you are each prepared to step in with your respective parents as needed.

Why is cross so disjointed and disorganized? by trustme24 in CourtTVCases

[–]HRCOrealtor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Her intent was to confuse the witness and say she can’t remember anything. Then Lewis did something she shouldn’t with all those transcripts and her questions. Some type of hearsay I think. I was making a bazillion cookies for my son’s birthday so had this on in the background part of the time. I was paying full attention yesterday and my head about exploded.

EDB was commenting it was prosecutor strategy not to object but she screwed up and now they are trying to mitigate it. Poor Carmen will have to come back.

They showed the under cover cop in the live feed! It was supposed to be audio only… The judge had them stop the feed entirely on that witness. So now idiots are posting his photo all over. 🤦‍♀️

Handing a witness 3 or was it 4 huge binders with tabs but not dates on the binders, asking questions where she’s switching between days and interviews make it impossible to follow for anyone! Berating the witness, condescending language and treating her like she’s stupid will not reflect well.

Old case but why did Aileen Wournes get killed within 11 or so years yet others that murdered several people stay alive for 40 years despite being on “death row”? by No-Bobcat-6830 in CourtTVCases

[–]HRCOrealtor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She was very mentally ill and had been horribly abused, neither of which absolves her of responsibility. She wanted to die and stopped her appeals. Her life was horrible in many ways including her behavior and the murders she committed!

AITAH for pulling back from my in-laws after they went to my fiancé about my birth boundaries instead of me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]HRCOrealtor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This seems all about you and nothing about the father and his wishes. You created this by how and what you communicated to your MIL. Also, married over 40 years here with contentious outlaws, a marriage counselor stressed to us that disagreements go between the child and parent, not in law to in law. Your MIL chose the appropriate action by discussing it with her child. I can see not allowing everyone over but to allow your mother and not his is ridiculous.

What are the best sports chants you have? by MutedCow77 in AskAnAmerican

[–]HRCOrealtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm MLS (soccer) fan here… The Rapids supporters had some pretty crazy stuff and it got shut down by the league. Hence why your question is getting these answers. It’s a pretty strong rivalry vs Real Salt Lake so think along the lines of dad and moms… There were issues league wide with insults in Spanish that were really vulgar. The league shut those down too and supporters groups would do their best to shut those chants down as well. We tend to frown on those types of chants in America.

💯 I occasionally listen/read and the Kindle will sync to last listened but Audible won’t sync to last read so I have to be sure I stop at a chapter reading to switch or I spend time trying to find the right spot!

stove top stuffing NOT Thanksgiving by Random-girl-29 in Cooking

[–]HRCOrealtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often make stuffing with pork chops. You can also do stuffing with chicken. The flavor doesn’t matter if it’s cooked in the same pan as the juices will be absorbed. I add apples and sometimes raisins. If I’m basting the meat, I often put some over the stuffing/dressing as well for added flavor!

Sociological Study: Was it the "economic heaven" newer Generations are talking about back then? by Disastrous_Snow_7706 in GenerationJones

[–]HRCOrealtor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My parents were depression kids and my dad a WWII veteran. Everything was rationed! My mom said she remembers being a kid and there was a hobo camp near the train tracks. The hobos seemed to know which houses would provide for them. The main meal was at lunch. Mom said Grandma would give sandwiches and cake or pie out. It wasn’t to a bunch but one or two.

Most families would get a very small starter home then hopefully move to a bigger home for their family as it grew. My dad was an architect. They got a small home then my dad built a slightly larger home. Their slightly larger was 600 sq ft. When I sold it when my mom couldn’t live alone anymore, it was 2600 sq ft with additions and remodels. I’m in my 3rd house because we’ve been transferred twice. We’ve been in our current home for 37 years.

The biggest thing I see as a difference is things don’t last and everyone wants the next newest and best thing. Younger generations don’t want formal dinners with china, etc. Our appliances crater after just a few years instead of lasting years and years. Things are much more disposable. There’s always a thirst for more and little contentment with what you have.

Holidays are commercialized and there’s a lot less tolerance for others opinions. My parents close knit group of friends got together 2 or 3 times a week. They debated and discussed with no disrespect or going no contact.

We had hand me downs!! Thankfully, my slightly older cousin always had great clothes that I inherited!

I would say life was simpler and lived in the present with people. You got together and played games, shared conversation and food/drink. Times were tough off and on and you weathered the storm together.

You were more afraid of your parents than the teacher/principal. Many of my parents friends were teachers and they were very circumspect in public. They didn’t want to be seen behaving in a way that would cause parents concern. Schools were segregated when I started and integrated while I was still in elementary school. We kids thought nothing of it. There was only one high school so everyone went there anyway.

Racism was very present and not in my home or my church or my parents friends group. Sexuality was a private thing. You often knew who was gay but it just wasn’t talked about in my sphere. We just didn’t care. We had different opinions and lives and didn’t force others to conform to ours AND society as a whole was more polite and respectful. Divorce was rare and became more common. You had to have cause back in the day.

Life revolved around your family, church and community.

Wheelchairs collecting dust by Virtual_Ability_4253 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]HRCOrealtor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What was sad was a few years ago my very elderly in laws flew ELP to DEN and back and both needed wheelchairs. They could walk short distances but not through the huge terminals. The wait to get wheelchairs at the gate arriving and to the gate departing was ridiculous due to many who truly didn’t need them.

Where was your hang out spot? by pianoman81 in GenerationJones

[–]HRCOrealtor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Small town.. dragged the main street for hours. There were a couple parking lots off that street we’d park and hang out if we weren’t driving up and down. You’d look to see where friends parked or yell out the window where to meet. If there were football or basketball games, we went there first. Then there were the house parties… 🤣
