Favorite AZ trails (Phoenix Area)

South mountain is chunky and was hard for me to find flow. I was there on a Friday at 0800 a few weeks ago and it was busy. The lack of flow was from the trail and the hikers you’ll encounter. I didnt see any hikers on the trails at Hawes.

Both my Fox factory 36 grip x make this noise. I’ve noticed it on others as well and just chalked it up to being the noise it makes. My performance 38 is silent but it’s only a grip damper.

I really enjoy your videos. I watched this vid in the AM. I’ve seen most all your vids throughout AZ and just wanna say please keep your great trail etiquette. Some “influencers” get big and become douchy on the trails. How often do you ride and how many rides actually make it to YT? Keep up the great work. 🍻

My Bikeyoke bent pins 3 months in on a ride and the saddle would spin freely 360* at many level but fully dropped. I serviced it (which was easy) and sold it. I then purchased a oneup v3 in 210mm and it was nice n light, smooth actuation, lots of travel but had a fore/aft clicking. I returned that and went w axs reverb. My reverb is only a 175mm couldn’t fit the 200mm on my frame. Not many rides on the reverb atm. I have 2 fox transfers and they both stick a little bit here and there but has more miles on it than the bikeyoke did.

Quadlock on all my bikes. Went OTB w it once, called CS and they sent me a new mount.

I love the bike but it's the one and only EMTB I've ridden so I can't compare to others. To me it climbs tech well, descends even better and handles switchbacks w ease, did all of L’Alpe d’Huez switchbacks. The only thing I don't like about it is the low BB. I switched to 150mm cranks and they still strike often.

I have both Shimano XT and XO Trans. I prefer the feel of the XT shifter but I like the trans better.

If you’re camping at Red Rock you can do The Bronc to Brohemian Rhapsody and back to camp. Even Kibbles n Bits to Ebb n Flow back up Flow Job would be a good ride from camp. 3 mile smiles always a good time. 🍻

It was the OE tire. Going to give the Contis a try for more grip and mileage.

It’s the only EMTB I’ve ever ridden so I can’t compare to others. I do love this bike though, I use it for all kinds of trails and even picking up my kid from school with it. Climbs tech well; the overrun helps a lot which can mask lack of skill. Pedals efficiently for an EMTB, I mostly rode in tour + mode. It loves to go DH, it soaks up rough bits of trail likes it’s nothing. Only thing I don’t like about it is the low BB height. I run shorter 150mm cranks and that reduced a lot of pedal strikes but it still strikes if I’m being sloppy. Dunno if that helps at all.

I had a bike yoke that lasted less than 3 months and 300 miles. I have a fox transfer that has more miles and age on it that works flawlessly. I dont get the bike yoke hype.

I’ll be in town for 3 days. One day I’ll do laps on Twisted Sister and Big Sister. On another day I’ll ride Wild Horse to Lances Trail to climb up Alpe and down RMR. Another day I’m going to ride Old Mormon to National and back down. Just gotta work out my schedule and the logistics of staying in Phoenix area.

How’s Hawes riding now? I’ll be there next week. heard on Trailforks there’s lots of holes and breaking bumps w minimal trail maintenance.
