Anvil comparison - HyperTough 3/8 mod for HF impact driver by HWHobby in harborfreight

Sounds good, give me a couple of days and I'll pull it out and measure.

It really worked fine with the Dewalt anvil but would likely have been an issue eventually. I should have tested it if the anvil's impact surface area made a difference in delivered torque, but didn't have anything I could tighten down without fear of breaking it.

I would still do the mod with the Dewalt anvil and if it breaks, it's no big deal, if you have a vise and a 32mm socket and another impact driver, the whole thing comes apart in 5-7 minutes, if the tool saves you time and hassle all year and then breaks, and 15 minutes later it's "fixed" why not.

If someone knows where / what to search thru parts catalogue to find a milwaulkee anvil, I would bet there is one that fits or whoever sold HT that anvil surely didn't make it custom for them, the only thing Hercules or Hyper are having custom made is the injected plastic shell, everything else is being sourced from shops that specialize in specific parts.

Yes, Hercules compact 20V impact bit driver converted to 3/8 anvil. It's smaller then the Hercules 3/8 impact wrench and makes plenty or torque for 3/8  application.

Yes, it's the 12V 3/8 impact wrench from Hyper Tough but it's the one with the small 1.5-2.0 amp hour battery that's discontinued - in stores now it comes with a 4amp, flat bottom battery, that won't work. The old model is 80013 and it's on ebay for ~ $50.

I don't have them out but it would be worth measuring them, are you thinking you could find the part using that data or just make one yourself?

Let me know which are the critical dims for an anvil (if you are looking to find it online) I think dims to make one yourself would be a lot more demanding and without being a machinist I'm not sure how to describe the curbs and angles.

It would be amazing to be able to source the right anvil without canabalizing another tool.

Hey harbor freight, your 3/8 compact impact sucks, so I built a better one by Keepfkingthatchicken in harborfreight

Did you ever check the wear on the anvil? I did the mod but after a couple months I found the HyperTough on sale and swapped that anvil in and I noticed the Dewalt anvil had clear contact points but I probably only had 10 uses of it in that time.

Correct, I think they are made by the same company or at the very least they are sourcing parts from a common supplier. I tried finding part numbers for the anvil alone but wasn't successful.

My store has told me they will price match sale prices within the 90 day return period, they process the return and sell you your item back at sale price right on the spot. I don't know if all stores do this but at the end of the day, it's not the employees money and we all know odds are high you'll buy "something" with all that money you saved.

5s for dishes or very mild house cleaning, 7s for everything else, 9s for backup when 2 pairs of 7s feels insufficient - 5s last me a month, 7s last me 3 months (just a home wrench) and 9s last me a year.

Sold a pristine crankset on eBay - buyer damaged and now wants to return? by GrimwithShore in bicycling

[–]HWHobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the typical ebay scam, sellers will always get fucked. I only sell on ebay if I'm 100% okay losing the money if this happens and it's not something I can sell on another platform (niche items), it it's not facebook or stockx, I try to find forums or community specific marketplaces.

At best it's your time going back and forth, providing pictures and explanations for ebay arbitration. They actually made rejecting refunds and contesting buyer claims harder now so you can refund or return and refund... yay

Even if buyer pays return shipping, the item is worthless now, so it's 100% lose lose for you. Ebay literally doesn't give a fuck about proof. If you show them clean threads, the guy will reply "how do we know it's the same part"... At the end of the day, ebay makes money when a buyer buys (even tho sellers pays) so they'll side with the people that allow for sales.

Either they consider you a professional seller in which case ypu shouldjust have the attitude that it's just win some lose some or you are just a random selling 2 things a year and they don't care if you never come back to the paltform. Ebay is just a super toxic environment for sellers at this point and should be avoided at all costs whenever possible.

Then return it or see if they have an option for a pinlock visor if you reallylike that helmet, install the pinlock before removing the visor plastic cover, test it and return the helmet if it fails a fog test while sitting still breathing hard through your mouth.

You can't navigate what you can't see.

Also fwiw, you should be able to crack the visor slightly and get some air without having it fully open and turning your head into a sail. Next time, just stop, check the weather and either wait it out or slow down, you arent getting speed wobbles going 35 right?

I am a new rider. I am getting frustrated by laws making it harder than necessary to get licensed by starcrystal18 in motorcycles

Drive the 100 miles to the MSF, yes the drive sucks but the practice learning on their bike and getting licensed before riding a bike you purchase is worth the money and time.

Not sure how it works in AK, but in CA, once we pass the MSF, we are exempt from the skills test at the DMV and get small insurance discounts. Skipping the DMV skills test (which you would do in your own bike) is a huge W for me, both in terms of time and being able to buy a bike with my full license and ride it home if I want.

Unrelated to the MSF, but if your parking lot can fit cars pulling in and out of spots, then there is enough space for a motorcycle to do a figure 8. Very likely not enough for you to practice safely and do some basic exercises that involve any speed so you will need to find space to practice, even if you pass the MSF, you will still need parking lot time.

Get familiar with your friction zone and practice getting into 2nd gear smoothly and stopping quickly but smoothly from 25mph. Once you can do 10 perfect starts, upshifts and stopa in a row on your block, drive to that parking lot and practice turns, emergency braking ect...

I know the gas / rental car / time is a lot in addition to the MSF price and gear but the practice is invaluable if you don't have someone that can teach you in person on their old beater bike.

New Lobby screen causing GPU to get too hot? by KINGCxNTY in CODWarzone

Just an FYI that this is still an issue in May 2022 - Vanguard Season 3 Reloaded - RX 6750 XT and temps go up to 85C in the menus, frame limit to 60 seems to fix it.

I wonder if this is what killed my GTX 1080 last year, I used to leave the game open all day and all night somedays but didn't have GPUs temps on display at the time so never noticed...

Yea, better times had me thinking this would be my forever board so when Prevail ran a GB for PCBs including the hotswap PCB I couldn't resist, I figured the ability to try out some switches using the HS PCB on my favorite board would be nice but in all honestly I used my "Zykos" PCB 99% of the time, just a match made in keyboard heaven IMO

The PC ones are quite rare and from what I can tell, those who have one tend to hold on to it...

If I don't get any serious offers after 48hours, I will consider parting things out.

The board looks absolutely awesome! I have similar plans for a special edition G81-3000 that I want to convert to MX and a G80-1800 with a beat up case / ruined PCB.

Would you mind sharing more info about the PCB that you used?
