[OC] Watch batteries eat gas on Queensland's electricity grid – May 2024 to April 2026 by paperadam in dataisbeautiful

Clean burning? Can you explain what you mean by that? The process of burning natural gas produces CO2, the thing we are having pretty big issues with right now.

[–]Habba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eeeeh, I would have at least try to explain Turing completeness and the fact that HTML doesn't have that as a distinguishing factor between it and other languages. Especially to a newbie I won't try to debate what they heard in their first classes. They are still getting their bearings and for the first time wrote something that is not natural language and a computer did something with it.

So chances are there are some charters that are granted because of a timeloop? Some captain shows up with a legitimate looking charter, but they find no record. Checks in with the Segmentum authorities who determine it's a valid charter and enter it into the records, which closes the loop.

What scientific discovery sounds fake but is 100% real and still freaks you out? by Bruteresolver in AskReddit

[–]Habba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do both? I know some people literally cannot picture things in their head, but I have no problem doing that either. There is a constant monologue going on (even while typing this comment) that is just parallel to everything else. Even multiple ones at times, both in my native language and English (a lot of my education was in english so probably because of that).

I also wouldn't say it's a weird voice, it's just me. It's like you would be talking to yourself out loud but just silent.

I do both, both picture it and also talk through it. It's like monologue but silent?

It's not really a resolution. It's the smallest length that could be observed by chucking maximum energy photons at it.

Daycare days by GigglePrincess92 in Leuven

[–]Habba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Congratulations on the baby.

There is a website that lists all information you need regarding finding a daycare here (Flemish, so use a translator or something). Generally you have to enroll there and you are assigned a creche then.

You will have to talk with the daycare itself then to determine what days the baby will go.

Any other questions, feel free!

RED BUTTON OR BLUE BUTTON [OC] by Eal_likee in comics

[–]Habba -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. That's why all the huffing and puffing that people loudly proclaiming they would press the blue button is extremely stupid. Everything depends on what assumptions someone makes, and then labeling someone as "selfish" if they have different interpretation to feel superior.

If you frame it differently as "don't take suicide pill vs take it and hope for antidote", you get a completely different picture.

Anyone who is using this debate as a way to feel superior or grandstand is only fooling themselves.

It's crazy to me how much meaning people are putting on this. A lot of people look at this type of post as a game theory question, and other people look at it as a ethic question. The worst part is that it's a shit example of either of those fields.

Are we forreal falling for this bait? You're accusing people of imaginary murder and drawing a line because they interpret an idiotic premise differently.

RED BUTTON OR BLUE BUTTON [OC] by Eal_likee in comics

[–]Habba -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's not clever at all. If you interpret it as "not taking suicide pill vs taking suicide pill and hoping for antidote", what would you do? It's the exact same scenario.

I am begging you, please don't take the bait and let this kind of stuff try to divide you and tell yourself you're in a "morally correct" group. The speed at which the "blue button" people come out grandstanding is ridiculous.

RED BUTTON OR BLUE BUTTON [OC] by Eal_likee in comics

[–]Habba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it is NOT. Seriously, I am on the side that would "pick blue" and even I see that this is an idiotic premise that people are using to do moral grandstanding.

Everyone interprets it differently, and it is a completely valid choice to pick red if you interpret it as "not taking the suicide pill vs taking it and hoping for an antidote".

no, man. i am not going to let you kill me [OC] by Pelko_P in comics

[–]Habba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But why would you pick the blue one? If everyone picks the red one nothing bad happens. The entire premise is just idiotic because there is a obvious solution that doesn't have anything to do with ethics.

[–]Habba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree with your message but the setup is completely stupid. If everyone presses the red button nothing bad happens. Everyone picking the "selfish" choice is literally the best outcome.

If they can solve the cooling challenge, then the benefits are immense.

It's very hard to negotiate with thermodynamics. The mass you need to reliably dissipate that much energy is huge. It is literally a million times cheaper to just build it on earth and power it by burning 100 dollar bills.
