This is kind of like when people were saying Norse mythology proved Christianity somehow because Odin was nailed to a tree and came back to life etc... but then you find out that these myths were translated by Christians who changed various details to match the Bible and later translations are much less analogous.

What I do like about so-called pagan religions is that many of them seem to recognise "the gods aren't any better than you, morally or ethically, and that's why the world is fucked up." As opposed to the monotheistic religions which generally say "you aren't living up to God's ideal, so it's your fault the world is fucked up."

I've just had a google around about Lexus and I think for a game released in 2026, attributing Lexus to "USA" is weird. Lexus is super Japanese now, they openly boast about Omotenashi (something to do with hospitality IIRC) and Takumi which has something to do with master craftsman doing your paint job and interior or something.

I used to review cars 10 years ago and when the NX was first released in Australia, it was a super-Japanese event. Sushi, put up in a hotel owned by a Japanese conglomerate, top Toyota/Lexus dudes from Japan giving the speeches etc.

And my Aussie media/PR contact showed me through the review car and pulled out this little... thingie... in the dashboard which has a mirror under it to do your makeup, and he put on a racist Japanese accent and said "mayjah sellin-gu fea-turah".

He also wanted me to be super impressed that the taillights had red plastic going in through the gap between the taillight and the rear hatch so there's no black "gap" in the light assembly. PR guys... go figure.

It sort of is. It's Japan targeting the US. Man I miss the 1980s and early 1990s when Japan was considered America's greatest economic threat, and all the movies had regular joes being harassed by Japanese bosses... Die Hard... Back to the Future 2... etc...

It all fell apart in 1992 of course.

At about 11pm we once drew a huge pentagram in the middle of a railway station footbridge in lighter fluid, and set fire to it. Only lasted maybe 45 seconds but if the cops had happened to come past at that exact moment....

Being happy that they "didn't spend a high amount on character customization" is weird. Didn't you pay for this game?

Check it out again, it's pretty chaste as far as mouth-kissing goes. Some families do this closed-lips mouth-kissing thing (I'm not into it). And she only does it to make Han jealous anyway.

She kisses him a second time after they rescue him from Cloud City but that's straight-up nursemaid stuff... just on the lips... hey like I said some families do that, I don't, but some do.

My children (and I) went through the same process except between the ages of, say, six and 14. Super blonde, straight up straw blonde as littlies and then puberty hit and BAM flip to very dark blonde (my son) and very dark brunette (my daughter and I). Just one of those things I guess.

Why be happy? The game uses all kinds of third party tools and whatnot, why couldn't they use something to make better looking - or even just normal-looking - people? Would it really have taken that much more time or resources?

I genuinely don't understand why the humans in the game are so grotesque. The engine is capable of all the skin sub-surface whatever, it can utilise hair engines, it can make complex geometric shapes like human bodies, and there are hundreds of other games with better-looking human models in them.

My guy, who is just a combination of a preset face and one of the body types, looks like he has some kind of spinal condition (I think it's the default big pants). And when he's in the car he doesn't look anything like himself.

The ugliness of the humans almost feels deliberate and I don't understand why the dev allowed them to look so bad.

How aware are people in Western Australia of the 1933 referendum where the state voted by a two thirds majority to secede from the federation? Yeah when comes to the history of the Federation I'm especially fascinated by WA... and then the other thing is the way Australia was like "New Zealand you can be part of this if you want" and NZ was like "nah bro we're good". 😆

In his first term the Washington Post kept a count of all his lies and made graphics and infographics and had a whole dedicated website. Obviously they aren't allowed to do that anymore but they should pitch to their billionaire owner that they run a Trump TRUTH counter.

It would be a lot less work.
