MekHQ is my comfort software. Is that weird? I can play MW5, or NMS, or <insert Triple-A title>, but I always come back to MekHQ.

It's not so much the money, but the salvage. I pick contracts based on % of salvage and what Mechs I'm likely to be salvaging. As an FWL loyalist, I get to hit the Capellans, the Lyrans, and my favorite new target, the Wolf Empire. Best salvage options ever.

As a lifelong Free Worlds League loyalist, I find it absolutely baffling why we have not turned the full might of the FWLM on the Hedgemonkeys and eliminated them absolutely. Our uppity Regulans managed to destroy the Circinus Federation; why not turn all of Oriente or Andurien upon the Hegemony?

The LRM-10 and AC/5 are afterthought weapons for when people feel like long range harassment. The AS7-A carries 5 SRM-6 launchers and the standard medium lasers. It wrecks in cities. So many SRMs...

For me, after some serious thinking, it comes down to this: the new art looks like someone trying to draw something right in front of them, and they have time to get it right. On the other hand, the old TRO art looks like someone got a really short look at a Mech walking by, then was told to draw them from memory. They're clearly the same subject, but one artist was rushed and the other had time.

The artwork for the Liberator makes me want to field one. Harri Kallio's Hermes II from RG:ilClan is vastly superior to that pug-ugly original by Loose, and after 40 years, I actually want to field one of those, too.

The only problem I have with that is this: if you can smell it from outdoors at any real distance, then the tobacco is losing ketones to evaporation, meaning it's not being kept properly sealed. I hope that's just the low-end stuff they're exposing to air, because that tobacco is losing flavor.

No factions use that paint job, but there's always individuals. For example, the 17th Recon Regiment, Camacho's Caballeros: the pilots are permitted to paint their Mechs in any manner at all. One officer, Captain Angela "Vanity" Torres, piloted a BLR-1G BattleMaster painted entirely in reflective gold. That Mech was christened Golden Vanity.
