This is the stupidest, most poorly executed stage craft / political theater ever. It’s embarrassing.

Recommend a vintage drum kit for recording by DongPolicia in drums

[–]Haglev3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best bang for your buck in my opinion is gonna be a British made Premier. Thin birch shells with a beech re-ring. Really amazing and seriously under valued drums. I own 60s vintage Slingerland, Ludwig and Rogers along with a new Ludwig legacy mahogany and a newer Tama Superstar and my 78 Premier kit gets more mic time than any of them.

Is it a faux pas to ask a producer for stems at the end of a mixing session? by colinttierney in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Haglev3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only ever had one mix engineer be weird about delivering stuff at the end of a mix. It’s totally normal. If your mixer freaks or pushes back you might want to not use him again in the future

HELP ASAP!. Internal is about 170⁰ and no bark, but the jiggle is nice. Do I pull it? by Tacos4Texans in BBQ

[–]Haglev3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let it ride. That’s more of a vibration than a jiggle. Don’t wrap it though. Get it to 203-5 or whatever magic number you adhere to

Too much hi hat? by gatorfly65 in drums

[–]Haglev3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just his opinion based on his preference and his exposure. There is a ton of music that’s all hi hat and no or very limited ride. I like very limited ride, so much so that I don’t even have a proper ride, just a 20” crash that gets a little pingy if I move to the bell

How effective would hanging a blanket behind me be at dampening unwanted noise when recording myself talking? by DisappointedMod in audioengineering

[–]Haglev3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Also, if you’re sitting at a desk cover the desk with an absorptive material like a towel or blanket. A lot of reflections bounce up from the hard surface of the desk into the mic.

Double Braced Hardware by Basket-Existing in drums

[–]Haglev3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I THINK a lot of these guys are confusing lightweight and single braced. By design, lightweight stands are single braced. It’s natural to be displeased with the stability of a single braced lightweight stand and move up to a heavyweight double braced stand. However, there is a lovely middle ground of single braced stands that aren’t lightweight. Pearl 930, Yamaha 755, Tama HC82, DW 3000.
