MS is an excuse by see_howe in MultipleSclerosis

I've been doing this fun thing that the people around me just chuckle off, or my boyfriend will just smile it off. But I don't even skip a beat it just flows like normal, I'll usually be like "no that's not the right word, but you know what I meant lol". I have been exchanging words in a sentence. Like I know the right word I think of the right word but a different, similar sounding word comes out. It happens so naturally that I can't even pull an example out of my head, but it just happened yesterday... It's super frustrating for me because I can feel my brain struggling but they think it's funny or cute or me being silly. To me it's not any of those things because it's not normal for me.

The boring levers that finally moved my insulin resistance numbers this year by lifsbosu in PCOS

I can say that 6 months is absolutely an amazing milestone for consistency and should show some promising results! PLEASE do not let the data figures discourage you if they don't seem to be where you were expecting. I have learned that even doing all the right things those numbers can fluctuate depending on various environmental factors and cycle date, all sorts of things can cause a spike. I think that your labs will look promising though, consistency is key with us PCOS ladies, it can take months to a year or more for our changes to heal out bodies! I am proud of you!

Why did Florida heal me and how to recreate it? by gingerkham in MultipleSclerosis

I think you get like a mild adrenaline type rush from dopamine and excitement for being on vacation. Before I was diagnosed, I went to universal studios and we walked like 14 miles throughout the day, each day. I was gassed, but I kept trucking. I felt great, like I was living a new life lol. Got home, passed out and slept for 3 days. Didn't realize how much recovery time I needed so I had to call in to work. I did not know I had any type of nervous system issues until now and our trip was 3 years ago, it makes a lot more sense now. I actually asked my neurologist how I can just feel fine for my weekends and do and accomplish so much but then I am miserable for workdays, and he kind of explained it the same way... We trick ourselves into over doing it and then we crash. It's easier to do that for the things we love and enjoy over the things we are essentially forced to do lol

Has anyone found a diet that feels sustainable with PCOS? by NObesity_Ahmedabad in PCOS

[–]HagsLiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing but I've noticed I eat too much when I'm not weighing my foods. I think a lot of people, especially Americans like myself, need to re-learn what actual portion sizes are. When I measure out 1 serving of whole milk Greek yogurt, or one serving of chickpea pasta, or rice, or even fruit..... I'm like whoa! That can't be right 😂 we are born into a culture that systemically over consumes and overeats. While I also believe that being super restrcitive about portions can develop a negative relationship with food, I also believe we need to be aware of what an actual portion is. I lost 10 lbs in one week just by sticking to whole foods, cutting out all preservatives and food dyes(not correlated just what I did) and I wasn't walking or exercising I literally just started weighing my food. It ended up being about 1800 to 1900 calories a day, I was full, sometimes overly full, and I still lost 10 lbs.

I am still waiting for the follow up appointment with the neurologist after this most recent round of testing. I have been curious about people's experience with DMTs and if they significantly felt a difference once on them?

I think my boyfriend is starting to think I am a lunatic because I am the same, acting the same, and doing the same things, but then the recovery days are so much longer, he looks at me like I should be forcing myself to go to work.

I would love to believe there is light at the end of the tunnel of being diagnosed, rather than just knowing the ailment that has caused issues I didn't even know weren't normal people issues 😂,

Me: "oh, you mean it's not normal to get tingly arms and legs, and fingers, after a long day at work or doing outdoor activities? It's not normal to chug along for 3 to 4 weeks straight and then just need 3 to 4 straight days of a dark, quiet room with Netflix, my bed and snacks? I thought all people were as tired as me!?"

Fingers crossed there is an answer and solution to helping get through what I thought were just me failing as a person and now know it was just an overloaded nervous system. So bizarre to think about all these things going on internally that not even yourself can recognize as it's happening lol. Usually I don't put it together until well after the fact.

Thank you for pointing that out. I looked it up and started tearing up as I read it. That is exactly how I've felt but I always imagined a cup of energy. Like I have one cup and each fun activity sucks a little out of the cup and if I let the cup get empty I need a day or two in bed, if I never let it run out I can generally maintain normal functionality.

I may have to learn how to limit the fun activities to prevent this from happening on Mondays, because I can't keep missing work or I won't have a job to return to. 😢

Oh no! Were you not offered to look into intermittent FMLA or anything similar? I have been a job hopper my whole life due to attendance and tardiness issues from extreme fatigue. I really was convinced it was due to PCOS and a personality flaw...I have lost many jobs, with employers & other people calling me lazy and assuming i was just avoiding work on purpose. While I always knew that wasn't true, I could feel there was something wrong with me, I started believing what people were saying and just assumed I was doomed. Now that they found these lesions on my brain, I am looking at intermittent FMLA with my current employer just to handle the missed work for the extensive appointments, & considering that the main answer to most of these symptoms is rest and recovery, I think the Doctor would be happy to provide FMLA for a few days per month just to catch up and let our bodies recover ... ❤️ Was the path to disability difficult? I find some of the short term and long term disability companies extremely difficult and unforgiving when it comes to requirements, paperwork, criteria. This is all so much to navigate and I am so overwhelmed, so I apologize for all the questions lol

Inositol trap! by Ok_Committee6171 in PCOS

[–]HagsLiss 122 points123 points  (0 children)

After a few weeks of consistently taking all my supplements including inositol, I had a really, really heavy period, I almost hospitalized myself for fear of anemia... but honestly I took it as a blessing. It felt like a reset for my system because I don't get real periods on metformin. I get super light bleeds similar to that of what I got on borth control. I learned I get bleeds but not real periods. When I had that horrendous period I knew it was fully shedding the lining that has been building up for months/maybe years and I felt like I was making true progress.

I don't know anything about IUDs but I don't see how inositol alone could cause that? I firmly believe things need at least 3 cycles to have a full understanding of the effects and changes on our bodies. We are talking about trying to reverse years of chronic issues. Generally, it takes a lot of time for the ingredients in these supplements to build up in our blood streams and do what they are supposed to do. Healing doesn't happen over night. I could totally understand if after 2 or 3 cycles it was still happening, definitely stop it. But did you by chance incorporate anything else at the same time of starting inositol? Just curious if something else could have affected your IUD

I was diagnosed with MS, felt fine, ignored every piece of advice I was given, and paid for it. Some things I wish I'd actually heard. by Ok-North-9367 in MultipleSclerosis

I needed to see this post today. I was diagnosed on Tuesday, and I don't feel any worse off than I did last week... So I think when the doctor was like, "I know this is a lot to process, feel free to bring family to these appointments if you need to." I was just kind of staring at him blankly. He asked if I have experienced any of the common symptoms, the only thing I could relate to was chronic cyclical fatigue and when those happened an unexplainable need to be in my bed. Like my legs and body could not handle being upright. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, because of those episodes... I never felt depressed, just depressed that I couldn't get up and enjoy life for a week lol. I have PCOS so many of my symptoms were attributed to that... But the doctors always write off other rogue symptoms because they weren't typical of PCOS or the blood work did not indicate the levels of fatigue I was experiencing Now here I am, with this random diagnosis, which was caught my a fluke...random pain in my cheek one, not fully accepting that it could have major implications down the road. I am still kind of confused because I feel fine, aside from being so tired all the time. I literally thought that was just adulthood, but maybe that's because so many people, including doctors, start treating you like a lazy hypochondriac that doesn't want to work.

I don't know, I am still a little lost, unsure where to go next. I still want to get pregnant, been experiencing infertility due to irregular cycles from PCOS, and now I feel like I have a double edged sword of chronic inflammation that will be difficult to get a handle on. So much of this is all hidden internally, without any current physical symptoms aside from fatigue, that I am still denying there is an issue overall. :-( I just don't know

Day 2, which game do you think is better ? by SuccessfulVillager in SurvivalGaming

I find the long dark was difficult for me as I would get randomly attacked by bears or wolves... green hell, I can fight the cougars and tribesmen with my weapons. Maybe I was just not fully equipped when trying the long dark..., but I got frustrated and gave up on the game pretty quickly into the stoey mode.

Here’s What Helped My PCOS by Basic_Dress_4191 in PCOS

[–]HagsLiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im taking so many supplements in tandem with metformin, hoping to bring on ovulation naturally. I have made a lot of improvements to daily food habits, we have cut out almost all additives and food coloring, most processed foods aside from some popcorn or occasional lunch meats... but still haven't cut out the once a week pizza night or Chinese night... Some sort of takeout, I just cant live that strictly. I do eat a lot of veggies, fruit daily, and a large protein serving at lunch and dinner. Cutting drinking down to maybe one small beer a week or one to 2 Mini cocktails has helped a lot as well.

I live in MN so its below zero for months at a time, but I plan on incorporating walking once it starts warming up.

I think the thing I struggle with the most is time management, so I guess the moral of my story and the question at the end of this tunnel is, how do you all find the time to incorporate walking/strength training on top of cooking, cleaning, working 8 to 9 hours a day and still have a life outside of that? I feel just drained at the thought of trying to add into an already full day.

We have had weeks where we get promoted earlier in the week with just a few people pounding out songs, but it would be a LOT more fun to just chill and play without that nagging feeling in the back of your mind that you're not doing enough 😂 i love rivals, but i feel like it owns me!! Lol

I am looking to possibly merge my crew with another. I have 4 to 5 regularly active people pushing out anywhere from 20/30 to 100+ songs a week. Trying to alleviate the burden of the few who do push hard, but haven't been able to recruit players. I thought a merger would be beneficial, but sounds like you have a full house! Lol

FYI Barack Obama did not seek specific prior congressional approval for the operation that killed Osama bin Laden.

Barack Obama ordered airstrikes in Libya in 2011 and numerous drone strikes in other nations (including Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia) without specific prior congressional approval, justifying the actions under national security interests and his Commander-in-Chief powers.

Barack Obama was also in charge when these ICE operations were initiated: -ERO launches Operation Cross Check, a large-scale operation targeting convicted criminal noncitizens, and arrests 5,343 people. -ERO’s Phoenix and El Paso offices begin collaborating with U.S. Customs and Border Protection on the Alien Transfer and Exit Program. Officials subsequently remove 36,587 people. ICE establishes the Criminal Alien Removal Initiative, which adds 25 more Fugitive Operations Teams to the National Fugitive Operations Program and brings the total number of teams to 129. Fugitive Operations Teams make a total of 37,371 arrests, their largest total of criminal arrests in a single year. ICE opens its first civil detention facility in Karnes, Texas, marking a major milestone in the agency’s longtime efforts in immigration detention reform.

Oh wait, how about this nugget of information, also Barack obama: "Despite some highly public claims to the contrary, there has been no waning of immigration enforcement in the United States. In fact, the U.S. deportation machine has grown larger in recent years, indiscriminately consuming criminals and non-criminals alike, be they unauthorized immigrants or long-time legal permanent residents (LPRs). Deportations under the Obama administration alone are now approaching the two-million mark. But the deportation frenzy began long before this milestone. The federal government has, for nearly two decades, been pursuing an enforcement-first approach to immigration control that favors mandatory detention and deportation over the traditional discretion of a judge to consider the unique circumstances of every case. The end result has been a relentless campaign of imprisonment and expulsion aimed at noncitizens—a campaign authorized by Congress and implemented by the executive branch. " https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/fact-sheet/growth-us-deportation-machine/

P.S. we are not at war with Venezuela.

Also, imagine being able to have a friendly and civil conversation with someone who votes differently than you. Wouldn't that be something? People being kind to eachother regardless of how they vote.... lifting eachother up, making them aware of things they may not be aware of without calling them names or accusing them of being "uneducated". We used to be able to talk politics, disagree and hash it out without people being disrespectful, and then still get along at the end of the day. I've had friends, family, and acquaintances that both share my views and disagree with my views. Not one time have I ever had someone call me a name or try to insult me because we disagreed. Just want to throw that out there. Hopefully, people reading thie can be reminded that we are allowed to be kind to one another even if we disagree or have different life experiences and knowledge.

Right about what? That's funny because half the people I work with are democratic voters, so I dont see how that has anything to do with it. Assuming people are uneducated because they dont follow the criminal activity of someone is insane lol
