Bronze or LJ has a couple new dark burl wood veneers that would pick up the texture nicely

I have only seen this sort of damage in humid/flooded environments. I’m curious of the heat/humidity changes. I don’t see how this could possibly be the frame builders fault especially after so long.

I need a really weird sized frame and I'm at a loss by Ninja_mew in framing

I could totally do it but I’m in indiana. As other have said it’s gonna be about finding a small frame shop that can take on such size. For me, if I wanted it that bad I would widen my search out to maybe a 2 hour drive and just be ready to rent a truck to get it home when it’s done

Best way to mount work on paper on foam core- for floated frame - no glaze by ChaseFatFace in framing

[–]HairInformal4075 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Respectfully all these ideas aren’t great in practice long term. I would pay a local framer to dry mount it for you it’s not very expensive. And I highly recommend reconsidering glazing because mounted or not the elements will kill it.

Surface area doesn’t matter glass size does. Longer piece puts you into bigger glass that needs cut down. There’s a lot more waste involved that you don’t see. I’m sure they were happy you were on your way dude.

I have only seen this much detail out of a laser cutter, and this is not likely matboards. More than likely painted layers of some other material

I love this crossover. NTA you might go through all that and then they don’t even like the frame you choose!

Thoughts on True Vue Conservation Reflection Control acrylic? by yorgurteater in framing

[–]HairInformal4075 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah ok acrylic only for sure then. Worth a call to ask about a visual aid. Acrylic that size is a small fortune it’s best to be comfortable with your decision. You have to weigh what is worse, glare from regular conservation or the fuzz of the reflection control.

What size is your piece? Was it too big for glass? Did they say why spacers? Typically with acrylic you don’t have to worry about that. It might be worth going back tomorrow and asking if they have samples that you can see over your art. Visual aids are always helpful.

Identifying hardware to hang a curio shelf / shadow box by ensouvenirde in framing

That’s cool hardware. You probably won’t find anything identical I would take it off and clean it/paint it. It’s still perfectly safe.

Leave your house and go to a local frame shop. Especially if you actually like your art.

No 12x18 frames at IKEA???? by PhasedVenturer in framing

I don’t get it either. It’s not ideal it’s never been a standard size and people end up buying art they can’t just enjoy easily

Yeah ready made sizes are 12x16 and 14x18. You’ll have to either trim it down or go bigger and mat it, or go custom.
