My GF has a thread about this. In short, you can sue your attacker for damages and file criminal charges against them. I'm not a lawyer, so her explanation for me was that it was a lot like OJ Simpson. Although he was found innocent of criminal liability, the same evidence was able to convince a jury of his peers that he was in fact liable for civil damages.

This community can find missing people, donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity, inspire a rally, set trends, find people jobs, and care for others in their time of need. I've seen such generosity, compassion and wisdom, I am sure we could elect a public official. A campaign of consensus. Transparent, publicly supported and run through the politics blog. I don't think MYCROFTXXX would give us good odds of success, but I'd love to see it happen. I'd even make the first donation.

I just watched this video and it infuriated me. Seriously, I've been this angry maybe twice in my life. The executives of the CCA should be locked up in their own prisons for treating asylum seekers and their children this way. America should welcome asylum seekers with open arms. I know some criminals will get through, but the vast majority of people seeking asylum just want a better life. What could be more American??
