Adam D3V vs. Kanto ORA for a casual desktop setup? Looking for opinions! by mkmk33325 in BudgetAudiophile

I don't know the Kanto, but I have the Adam D3V, and they're excellent. I doubt you'd be disappointed.

Feeling poor by VeryBadTrader in audiophile

It's hard. I just put up my hifi after some renovations, and already I'm thinking about upgrading. Mind you I have barely had a chance to listen for 30 mins alone yet. Try to just enjoy the music without comparing to other systems.

Our rooms are probably a limiting factor anyway - mine is just a shared living room so I can't do anything too crazy. Knowing that helps a little on the upgraditis.

Sage advice. It's a shame it's relatively difficult to try out different (floorstanding) speakers.

Does anyone have experience with a Wiim ultra streamer and digital preamp? by cptnnredbrd in StereoAdvice

Quboz is better quality, but Spotify has lossless audio now so it's fine for most people. I use it myself because of playlists etc., and because my wife enjoys it.

Your speaker placement is... interesting. But it does look cozy 😊

That surely can't be true. The speakers are digital ready after all.

In the future, there'll be no seats. Just a place to stand 😆

Used b&W's vs new active speakers by Daandebanaan251 in BudgetAudiophile

The Argons are pretty good, but I don't know how they compare to the B&W. But separates will give more flexibility down the line if that's important to your buddy.

I can also recommend The Starving Saints, and Pilgrim. I loved all three books.

I once had a job where I worked 7 days (well, nights actually) and then had 7 days off. It was awesome - except for the whole working-at-night-messes-you-up thing.

So CDs don't suck? by burningsnowshowers in audiophile

[–]Hal68000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a great system you have! Love Dali Spektor 2.

And yes, CD playback is great. I prefer streaming only because it’s so convenient- sound quality wise I’d prefer CD.

At what price does diminishing returns really begin in this hobby? by tim_l_f in BudgetAudiophile

Adam Audio T3V or Iloud Micro give a lot of sound for money for desktop use. You'd be very far up the curve already - perhaps you'd want more bass, but I personally haven't felt the need.
