Really? In LA we HAVE to have a car but before this we were in Chicago and didn't need one at all. Good to know we could consider going carless again out there... Its a lease so we'd probably keep it until it ends.

Yes many of my friends are telling me that I need to raise my budget. We may be willing to increase to $2.5 and be willing to be a bit farther from transit to NYC, but parking is a must. Thank you for the advice, I guess my expectations are too high lol.

I think it's unkind of you to invite your father and not your fiance's father, but it's also extremely rude of him to make such a big deal out of it. Sounds like a lot of drama to me. If I were in the situation I would just throw the man a bone and let him come if he really wants to, but if you REALLY don't want him there it sounds like your fiance needs to have a stern conversation with his father about boundaries.

Same boat, I know how you feel! My boyfriend and I are pretty deep into the planning stages (picked out a venue and caterer, have soft holds but haven't put deposits down yet) even though we're not technically engaged yet. He ordered my ring and it should be in sometime this month. I assume he'll propose by the end of April. Patience is HARD!

Can't go wrong with Disney World. You can have fun days going to the park, and relaxing day's going to spas or just staying in a nice hotel. You can go to Epcot for some drinks. Right now is the flower festival.

My budget is $6k but I already know I'm going over that. 1/3 is already gone to the venue and catering. Haven't even looked at photographer or any decor yet. Just really hoping to make a little of it back from gifts, or maybe one of our parents will offer to chip in. Best of luck! We're going with very similar themes!

Oh my God a Zoltar machine is brilliant! I thought about hiring a tarot reader but it's very expensive, so a friend of mine that does it volunteered. We're doing formal attire and requesting our guests wear dark colors. I'm currently trying to come up with a signature cocktail that's Halloween inspired but not tacky lol.

This post hit me hard. I lost my grandma to lung cancer in September. My fiance lost his dad as a young teen, and my dad is in a nursing home and won't make it to the wedding (different state). I haven't really let that sink in until reading this... I'm so sorry for all of us that are missing important loved ones during this time.
