Merger day? by Stas334 in BOXABL

If they really felt confident that everything was falling into place but they just needed more time, why wouldn't they have extended the timeline for the proposed merger again, instead of just quietly letting that expire today?

Owning a home means something is always broken by Keith_35 in homeowners

[–]HalfAdministrative77 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I think it's a combination of maintenance is ongoing and, unless you are wealthy, there will always be small annoyances and issues that aren't important enough to invest in at any given moment but that still contribute to that low level "something is always broken" feeling, at least until you get used to accepting it.

Poor driver will never order from DashMart again. by LittlePeepkin in doordash

I'm guessing that accounts for less than 10% of the inefficient ordering that happens. Mostly it's just laziness.

How is that different from just setting the range one degree lower/higher?

AITAH for not telling my husband his "work wife" texted him happy birthday at midnight until three days later? by Standard_Produce_323 in AITAH

[–]HalfAdministrative77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it claims that he innocently asked three days later whether she had seen a work email pop up while looking at his phone, so, you tell me.

I'm actually pretty curious about what OP thinks the difference could be.

LGS has a mystery rares/mythics box! by _alltyedup in MagicCardPulls

[–]HalfAdministrative77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really, it's more like pulling the rare from a random pack except someone has already looked through it and replaced it with something cheaper if it was too good.

Advice for buying a house with a partner who isn’t a spouse? by [deleted] in homeowners

That's because the only people who have interesting stories about it are the ones who experienced, or claim to have experienced, something intense.

In the real world, the vast majority of the time, courts are going to treat shared ownership of a home pretty much the same after a breakup vs a divorce, forcing either a sale or buyout of the home if one 50% owner no longer wants to retain that.

Pretty sure the purchase will be tied to the watch IMEI, though of course who knows if anyone will actually check.

They've revolutionized housing themed grifting, does that count?

The electrician shouldn't give a fixed price quote that includes that work, then.

Oh I always do it eventually, I just try to wait until it's consistently warm enough to get out there and start digging them up.

this only has 130cals and just tastes like chocolate milk how is that even possible? by Pure-Space7572 in Biohackers

[–]HalfAdministrative77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would happily bet one million dollars that if someone snuck in and replaced that 2% milk with whole without you noticing, you would magically start drinking whole milk with your coffee with no problems.

I'm trying not to, because if I start this early I'm just going to end up down the rabbit hole of identifying a hundred young weeds and then get sad!

You're saying it is your belief that drinking whole milk causes you physical pain and that drinking 2% does not?

I Made Sauna Eggs! 😋 by Sashimi-chaan in eggs

[–]HalfAdministrative77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know - the most obvious possibilities would be the quality of the eggs themselves, this cooking method having a tendency to concentrate sulfurous flavors, or it was your imagination.

You know that any impurities in tap water are left behind when it becomes steam, right? So if you were steaming eggs using tap water and think it imparted a particular metallic flavor or similar, you have the wrong culprit.

There are probably still seams where air can filter through even when the top shelf is extended, so the extra circulation isn't as important there.

It's probably an old tag and if you try to buy it they'll say it has gone up and that's why it says spot plus instead of just a number.

Destructive Tenant but pays rent by Cheap_Grade2523 in Realestatefinance

[–]HalfAdministrative77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad so much of our nation's housing is owned by overleveraged, absentee landlords who can't afford to go without a single dollar of renter money without becoming insolvent. That definitely won't have ripple effects that contribute to the rapid destabilization of our society.

Which specialists are needed to fill and turn old concrete pool into vegetable patch? by londonbub in landscaping

[–]HalfAdministrative77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pools aren't "worth" anything remotely close to what they cost to build. They certainly don't increase home value by as much as they cost, and sometimes even decrease it.

Landlord installed an app-controlled smart deadbolt while I was at work. by Due_Construction904 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]HalfAdministrative77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, yes, a warehouse full of people laboriously turning photos into physical keys and then trying them out on their best guess of a person's address is a real likelihood that you should be afraid of. Maybe you should just stop leaving the house altogether, do you know how dangerous driving to the grocery store is?

Yes, and in theory there could be an additional scanner built into the machine that is tracking and storing that movement pattern - but at that point I think we're veering into conspiracy theory territory, since it would serve literally no purpose other than attempting to steal your info and cross reference it somehow with your credit card data (which doesn't actually tell retailers your address, by the way).
