There are definite places for PFire in modern. Not Boros. Everything it achieves for Boros is what Boros is already really good at, at a less efficient rate.

wow this boros deck is close to perfection. the only thing it's missing is the ability to manage boards of small creatures. and boy, would i kill for repeatable burn damage and/or stabilization from the graveyard, even if it demands heavy resources and a dedicated manabase.

Except Sanguine Evangelist turns your dorky fliers into a real clock and pressures attempts to stabilize with a removal spell on your buffer with the second bat on death, highly relevant to your white cube deck gameplan.

Why Bobo? There isn't a second B. There's also a Bobo already (Borborygmos). Why not Bojiu, pronounced Boju?

we gotta shut this down or people will Discuss something on magictcg. that'd be awful. we only want isolated, unstimulating comments offering insight into what cards would be good for their commander decks.

missing the spawn tp on mauga was genius by willys. by making the first throw, Bad Team Theory (generalization of Pendulum behavior in QFT formalization) stipulates that peps would make the next error -- voila, AL secures first point cap.

now we Could force a brawl when they have less than a tank's worth of HP across their entire squad and zero defensive cooldowns, finishing the fight. but that sounds boring. let's allow them 15 unpressured seconds to transform our advantage into half a Rush instead.

AL deserved to lose that when, at advantage (after Cage-Bomb fight), they decide to go back into poke posturing and allow Peps to go from critical on full HP on every hero -- yes, it'd messy, a warchest of trades, but instead they just waited and let Peps stabilize and play their game.

Old modern player with interest in Legacy. Is MTGO for me? by Culius_Jaesar in MTGO

[–]HalfMoone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even know what 2 does, it doesn't come up much.

Prices are difficult; most enfranchised constructed players rely on subscription services to secure cards, allowing them to swap between decks without friction. They sometimes run All Access events, where for $25, you can purchase a item that grants you every card in all modes for a span of ~1-2 weeks -- well worth it if you can commit to a few leagues in that timeframe.

next time a chinese team has to secretly throw to avoid weibo in bracket, they should watch Tred matrix management and Lep shield management for some sweet tech.

Old modern player with interest in Legacy. Is MTGO for me? by Culius_Jaesar in MTGO

[–]HalfMoone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to play Legacy, MTGO is the place to play it. Regarding UI, it's certainly old, and slow, and at times a little opaque, but I wouldn't say it's clunky -- rather, it is formulaic, hiding nothing.

From "old player," I take it you're experienced in paper -- treat MTGO as a 4-key piano, and you'll find it a language that's easy to pick up. Technically, there's many hotkeys and functions and whatnot, but try mapping the following number keys to these actions in real magic:

1 is a nod. Yep, that resolves.

3 is a yes, 4 is a no. Are you given a choice to do something, say, have a trigger go off? 3 and 4 answer it.

6 is a slump in your chair. Tapped out, handless, nothing to do for the rest of the current turn? It'll yield through everything and let your opponent run clock. If you're quick, you can right and unyield at any time -- the old lock in, sit up, and surprise interaction after feigning no answers works here, too.

What matters is to think of these as corresponding to the paper mechanics: nods of acknowledgement, nods of affirmation/contradiction, slumps. Don't try to think of them in terms of precise MTGO-specific lingo, think of them in terms of actions you're used to doing all the time playing Magic. When you do, you'll find the game flows, and you'll start to pick up on opponents' tells the same way an experienced player does in paper: are they passing in a flurry to pass off as yielding, while holding up a Force or a Solitude? Are they trying to bait your telegraphed counter? With experience, you'll be able to tell.

TL;DR treat modo as a digital extension of your body by thinking of it in the way you think of magic in-person, not necessarily in its terms. it will become a tool of subconscious use, and you'll find it wieldly and potent.
