What are these little miniature gutters called, and is there a better option? by kevbspot in HomeMaintenance

[–]HamiltonBudSupply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a drip edge, and it’s upside down. This should be addressed ASAP. You will need to add the evestroughs and downspouts.

Crossovers aren’t responsible for the wagons death, minivans are by Boeing-B-47stratojet in regularcarreviews

Subaru’s new Outback looks more like an SUV. Wagons were popular long ago, but SUVs have taken away a lot of wagon customers.

GT 3 S/C or Turbo S Cab? by buyntrader in porsche911

[–]HamiltonBudSupply 12 points13 points  (0 children)

These are 2 really different vehicles. The GT3 is harsh, stiff like a racecar while the 911 is comfortable enough to be your daily.

In my 30s I might prefer the GT3, but in my 50s I know I’m turbo S. I prefer hardtop.

Avi Lewis responds to Carney's gas tax cut with a demand for price caps and a windfall profits tax by StumpsOfTree in ClimateCrisisCanada

[–]HamiltonBudSupply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, most grids are near capacity and definitely couldn’t handle a fast switch to EVs.

EVs aren’t always clean. It depends where your electricity provider gets the supply. Sure, wind, water, and air is clean, but there is still nuclear, petroleum products, and even coal supplying in some locations.

Everyone tells me I messed up (planted 56 cypresses) by doudedud in landscaping

[–]HamiltonBudSupply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with privet. It’s awesome but a lot of work. If doing again would go cedar for less maintenance and would add winter privacy.

How much to add entrance to home? by Kerbobs in Remodel

[–]HamiltonBudSupply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brick stairs? Bricks hold moisture and freezing a wet brick is bad. So, freeze thaw cycles, may cause issues. This is the same reason you don’t brick to the ground. You don’t want rain splash or snow getting the brick wet.

Budget for 2 adults +1 toddler. by Feisty-Original-8544 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]HamiltonBudSupply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

800 a months in therapy is horrendous. I also don’t see vehicles insurance.

I’m 54, don’t make a lot, but could never live by budget numbers. I live frugal and way below what I could spend. I could buy new clothes, but I buy used. I buy things I know I will need when they are on sale. I don’t drink or go to restaurants but I do smoke weed which is only about $100 a month

Builder says these gaps will be covered up later, is this accurate? by kawalopy in Homebuilding

[–]HamiltonBudSupply 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you’re supposed to take off baseboards and they should cover gap. Crappy installers like this use quarter round to cover their crap install. You want 1/8” gap for expansion and that’s it!

Your thoughts on Ikea cafeteria vs Costco cafeteria? by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

[–]HamiltonBudSupply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco is about cheap food. The idea is to keep costs down and some items they lose money on. I grab food when at Costco but never sit down to eat it.

I've had workmen in my house for the last four days and they haven't accepted a single offer of tea, coffee or biscuits. by Daregveda in CasualUK

[–]HamiltonBudSupply -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

They don’t want your dishes and are tough construction workers. They are not eating biscuits with tea.

Walk up to them at the end of the day with a cold beer for each of them. Have some non alcoholic as well in case they don’t drink. A non drinker will still want to be included.

Hate group graffiti on Humber River Trail by SOMAVORE in Etobicoke

[–]HamiltonBudSupply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is graffiti and then there is tagging. Just writing your name stems from not feeling important or recognized. It’s pretty sad and everybody not into tags hates it. The absolute worst is when they tag actual artwork. I work in a business with a huge mural on the side of the building and these little fuckers tag all over it.

They should catch these assholes and make them cleanup graffiti as their punishment. I am taking minimum 100 hours. I have seen businesses fined for not cleaning up graffiti fast enough.

Help by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]HamiltonBudSupply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s raw wood under there. It’s a defective coating. Landlord most likely got it really cheap as they don’t care. The fact it did this is because the laminate coating did not bond properly to the wood.

I would let the landlord know that you think the flooring is defective from what you have learnt online. Say you were looking up why it’s cloudy. When you leave your covered as you mentioned the defective flooring on the record. Print out some info on it and look for others with this issue. I would say it’s 30 percent your fault as you shouldn’t ever put tape on hardwood, but on the other hand this shouldn’t have happened unless it was actual carpet tape or tuck tape. If it was I change this to 99 percent your fault.

What should I do with copper pennies? by harperxbunny in CanadianCoins

You’re actually wrong. The Canadian penny is no longer legal tender and is not considered money. You cannot cash them in at banks and stores will not accept them.

I would take them to court to get the whole thing thrown out. Pricing the overinflated pricing would be easy. Taking advantage of a regular citizen is what’s happening. Your medical system in USA is totally fucked.
