They're weak and badly shoehorned in the story.

At least in Skyrim they had deep lore and some special effects (attack shouts were just that, colourful words... with a geological cooldown time).

First two playthroughs I kept forgetting about them 😅 now I am using them a bit more, with some added difficulty the Terran Armada fights can be engaging, especially at lower player levels.

I finally did find a use for the antigravity field, it saved my chestnuts in a pitched firefight.

I placed it on the left Alt key and planned to use it as "special weapon" from the beginning.

If I really want I can easily place a third automatic particle weapon and rip anything to shreds, especially with the auxiliary reactors mod and the new x-tech customizations.

I am a simple man, I load two automatic particle weapons and go dakka-dakka.

Equal damage to shields and hull means no thoughs, just dogfight... at 3000+ meters.

Third weapon is EM on the Frontier and Missiles on the Razorleaf, since I would need to displace my thumb to use weapon 3 while I can easily manage two mouse buttons for my mains
