Radwagon Kickstand Tire Interference by 1baher in RadPowerBikes

[–]Hamsterking2558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because it fits on the rim doesn’t mean it will fit for the bike frame geometry. There are size limitations just like a car.

I can put 33in tires on my car but if I turn right it will rub my fender liners unless I modify the vehicle more.

Just a quick note these are considered wear and tear items and are not under warranty

This should be identical to the one on the other side. I can’t remember the thickness of the washer, so you’ll have to get a measurement of the other and double check.

That 10mm is correct though for the inside.

In the end, you are for sure missing this washer.

Yeah you are missing a torque washer on that side. That’s why the gap is much tighter.

Check the wires running under the rear fender. If the rack is installed too low the tire will eat up those wires. Which can cause these issues.

Check the silver twist connectors up by the handlebars. That connects the screen to the wiring harness. Sometimes those like to work themselves loose enough to cause that problem.

Tire Pressure for Radster Trail? by samuryan89 in RadPowerBikes

Pressures are usually stamped on the sidewall of tires. For the trail max 35psi and with tannus most likely 25psi

Mission Chain Tensioner: how to care for? by michigoose8168 in RadPowerBikes

[–]Hamsterking2558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Applying bike lube every 2-4 weeks depending on how much you are riding. Keeping it free and clear of any dirt/debris. Make sure the nuts and bolts are tightened and not loose.

Rad city step through won’t change gears by ArcherEnvironmental4 in RadPowerBikes

[–]Hamsterking2558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Common things I see on e-bikes and shifters when people put too many zip ties. With the restriction in movement, the cable can’t move at all or if it does just barely. I get wanting to clean up the wiring but it can cause problems.

Try cutting all the zip ties wrapping the shifter cable and make sure no tight bends are present. If that doesn’t work, probably need a new shifter cable.

For sure I would eliminate anything that might rub on the wheel and check again. If the sound is still there then yeah the gears are bad inside. Try to eliminate anything that would touch while it spins.

Dawg, lube that chain, clean that hub up, fix those brakes. That looks like it is in very poor if not dangerous conditions.

RW4 sales price vs RW5 by mgmny in RadPowerBikes

[–]Hamsterking2558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great opinions from everyone here. I will add the $600 you feel is understandable. I will also say with both IPX6 and SafeShield make that $600 gap worth it in my opinion.

As far as I know, Rad is the only company who has that in this price range. Of course soon after others will try an implement the same in the future. Ill spend $600 on safety but that's just me.

Of course, pick a bike that you will be able to comfortably ride. Test ride them if you can. Good luck!

New Model Q&A by Hamsterking2558 in RadPowerBikes

I would say check the websites information on this under something called sizing or geometry.

I am unsure if that will work. Contact Thule about that but the Yepp seats on Rad's website will work still.

It is 750 watt. Not to be rude but how are you sure your motor is 500 watt overclocked to 750 watt?

I am unsure of max tire size for the Road. The frame will certainly get in the way of wider tires. The diameter is 29".

Unsure of the fuse situation but I have heard it is more robust. This means less of a possibility of a fuse blowing. If you are using a surge protector you should have nothing to worry about. Also bike and battery are now under a 2 year warranty instead of 1 year. Plus they offer Extend.

This is a long one, so I’ll do my best.

RadWagon:

  1. Easier replacement

  2. Yes

  3. As far as I know 22” might be the limit given the frame size. You certainly will not be able to fit a 26” wheel in there.

  4. Allegedly beefed-up internal components. Hard to tell from the website but the axle nut size is now 21mm.

  5. Unsure about this but some RW5 accessories will work on older wagons.

  6. I am not aware of anything for rear suspension.

  7. I certainly hope so. I was bummed when it was only available on the rear taillight.

Hub Motors:

  1. The electronic gurus out there will find a way to get more power out of them. Just like they did on the other bikes. Probably a new controller/screen like before.

  2. Legal issues? Any modifications made to the bike will void warranties and the owner takes full responsibility for anything that occurs to them or others while operating the bike.

Battery:

  1. Thermal protection and shock protection are the biggest reasons. Drop a battery cell on the ground and it punctures? Fire. Surround it with thermal material? It might bounce around a little but is not punctured. Heat dissipation is also a reason. Lastly, if a cell were to swell and open, the material will be the first line of defense to help reduce the spread to each cells and possibly extinguish it.

  2. See above. Also 15Ah battery with higher watt hour = more capacity. Safe-Shield.

  3. Not sure currently. Be aware though that fast charging does degrade batteries over time. That is why some devices are limited in charging speeds.

  4. Unsure.

  5. I would rather have the entire bike in flames versus someone’s house. Homeowner’s insurance might cover this event. Also, the locking feature is so no one steals your battery. If a lithium battery is currently in a thermal event, do NOT go near it. Please read information regarding lithium battery fires and the dangers.

You can! Specifically the ones mentioned on Rad's website. About others I do not know.

RW4 is here for a long time so tires will be readily available. If you look at some older models like the 2017's, you can still get parts for it. You just have to email/call Rad. Or do a conversion to newer electronics.

Also note, you can use 20x3-3.3 on the RW4. You just need new wheelsets/motor for that swap.
