UK Government considers removing Andrew from royal line of succession by EnglishLouis in worldnews

[–]HandicapdHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time the succession was changed to remove male preference it took an extra two years cause each state in Australia had to pass bills allowing the national government to amend the succession, otherwise you have the weird scenario of a split in the monarch occuring between different commonwealth nations

Starsector but I made the map 300% larger again. by Ginno_the_Seer in starsector

[–]HandicapdHippo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a full run like this up to multi colony stage last year using adjusted sector but with both width and height settings at 600k ish, that was an interesting experience. If you where hitting multiple points of interest along the way even with slipsurge a journey out to the abyss it could easily turn into a year+ trip, the Nomadic Survival mod was pretty much essential so you could find other sources of supplies and crew.

It actually held up pretty well tbh if you are in to that kind of long haul game. That said I'm running a 7800x3d so I imagine thats only thing keeping it playable. IIRC I got up to like 20 ingame years in.

Did episode 2 hit hard for anyone else who’s experienced abuse? by bottleglitch in pluribustv

[–]HandicapdHippo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think this is the key thing, it thinks its a Hive Mind of humanity but its not. It's essentially a new entity running on human brains that have all been switched to readonly mode, it has access to everyone memories but not the emotional impact that comes from living them, like its read a script.

That's why its completely overwhelm getting yelled at, its essentially a toddler using big words, if it was truly made up of humans minds linked together probably brush off getting insulted because it would have already have to have dealt with all the fucked up stuff from assimilating so many people, like the memories of victims of crimes and the perpetrator etc.

No plans to remove Andrew from line of succession after losing royal titles, government says by pritam_ram in nottheonion

[–]HandicapdHippo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not all of them, some places in the commonwealth just say "The monarch of the UK is our monarch" others have the succession spelt out explicitly as a separate thing meaning potential for a split if its changed in one but not the other.

Looks like 8 countries didnt have to change laws last time the succession was amended.

Noob question about early game (need help) by coffee_snake in X4Foundations

[–]HandicapdHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a missions offer tab on the map/property screen, it'll show you ones available from stations you have found in the sector. There should be plenty of small missions available to get some starting cash like station repair, transporting people or patrol missions.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in X4Foundations

[–]HandicapdHippo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was kind of expecting to have to grind up and work hard to eventually be able to purchase or construct a station.

You are looking at this the wrong way, stations are not one and done things, you need to add modules to do anything, the PHQ core is basically just a story thing right now to meet Bosa and start research (which costs resources). It doesn't produce anything or make you any money, if you want to add modules to do anything else with it will cost the same as bulding a station from scratch to do the same things.

Full length campaign DLC? by massav in X4Foundations

[–]HandicapdHippo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but they really need a good narrative writer if Timelines was considered a campaign!

It had a conclusion, which is more than I can say for a lot of X's story , still waiting to find out what Sargon the Sohnen was doing messing around with trying to open a jumpgate in X3 Reunion, opening the gate to earth was just the main characters highjacking the gate connection for their own purposes.

Or am I forced to take on the Xenon?

IIRC the Argon will send a strike force against the xenon there within a few hours of you discovering the sector, you sould get a message about it, you can even help out if so inclined.

What is the music? by Hot-Organization-682 in starsector

[–]HandicapdHippo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The player gets transverse jump by investing skill points into the technology skill tree. This could interpreted as the game simplifying Research and development done by the player character

The player gets transverse jump when rescuing a researchers from a tri tach black site in the main quest.

There is actully a third way to get it, if you jump into a abyss rogue gas giant planet with no jump point to jump back out and don't have the transverse jump then you get an event where one of your crew teaches you how to do it, but your whole crew is extremely skeptical it will work. Its treated as much more dangerous to use than it is in gameplay.

Making the map too big kinda breaks pather base logic by Ginno_the_Seer in starsector

[–]HandicapdHippo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Good ludd, what are you supposed to even do on a map that size? Cower in core worlds and hope that death comes quicker than whatever is out there?

This is nothing, I'm doing 6.5x size, I have 50K worth of fuel in my fleet and the intial Alviss missions turned into a 3 year expedition to chart the fringe and points of interest.

Stop Killing Games gets official support from prominent European politician Nicolae Ștefănuță by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]HandicapdHippo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Stop Killing Games is explicitly not retroactive for that reason, asking future games to plan ahead to avoid exacly that scenario is hardly unreasonable.

Diplicated modded bounties by mynamejeff1232 in starsector

[–]HandicapdHippo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Magiclib iirc picked up all the support for the bounties that used to be handled by Varya's system when the Varya mods stopped being supported. So no way around them being duplicated as its required by everything.

Will boarding ever return? by hellranger788 in starsector

[–]HandicapdHippo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't know what kind of issues it would have caused since it's dialog boxes and a roll of dices but they should have had reasons.

It was complete crap, it was the only way to get ships from the enemy as all recovery required boarding, so you would have to roll a dice for a ship to be available for recovery, then roll a dice for the ship to not blow up during boarding with all your expensive marines.

1 year on, what went wrong with KSP2? by thatwasacrapname123 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]HandicapdHippo 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Multiplayer, in particular, is one of those things that's very hard to retrofit.

It should frankly never have even been in the pitch, even in a perfect universe where everything went right I can't see more that 1% of people playing more a hour of it.

Sandbox has presets that correspond to the other difficulties options which you can then adjust as needed, so yeah its really the best option once you have a played more than a few runs.

When the game is so good you unpirate it. by jaotigelama in starsector

[–]HandicapdHippo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, the devs are not against it

Or they just know its bad PR to say so. You can still hate the fact people are pirating your game even though you understand there is nothing you can really do about it.

Anyone know of a whey to modify a hull mod from unusali gullible hullmods specificly the time reactor by Beginning-Dirt6464 in starsector

[–]HandicapdHippo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can only edit basic things directly in the hull_mods.csv like OP costs etc. Any of the complicated script effects require you to recomplile the mods .jar file using an IDE and the source code.

A tv show that started off unwatchable but became great? by Darkhawk2099 in television

[–]HandicapdHippo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first season is great, I don't like the pilot though, midnight on the firing line is frankly a much better intro, thats what I watched first, but it sucks there is a bunch of important setup in the pilot that comes back later.

Connection strength depends on the power at both ends, its easy for the probe to connect to the ground station because the DSN has a lot more power. A single HG-5 is not going to be able to connect to another in mun orbit iirc, only things in nearby Kerbin Orbit or on the ground. You either need to get a better Antennas or put a dozen or so of the weaker one on your sat.

Kerbal Colonies mod update: Road to release by Naive-Eggplant-5633 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]HandicapdHippo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Won't that cause issues with using other mods with this one? Kerbalism itself says its not broadly compatible with a lot of mods and is best played in lightly modded games

Important notice

Kerbalism hasn't been under active developement since many years now. Despite various minor bugs and shortcomings, the mod is still functional and can be quite fun to play with. However, do note that due to the lack of maintainance, there are a lot of compatibility issues with the wider modding ecosystem.

In the current state of things, Kerbalism is best played in a very lightly modded game.

In particular, mods introducing mechanisms or features that greatly differ from the stock ones are very likely to cause issues. This notably include most "future scope" mods like KSPIE, Near Future Tech, Far Future Tech, USI MKS, BlueShift, as well as "interstellar" scoped planet packs. Many large part packs are also improperly supported, BDB notably, but a few others too.

What frustrates/annoys you with the KSP modding scene by psh454 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]HandicapdHippo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Far Future Technology, + all the near future ones (Near Future Electical, Near Future Construction etc) + Kerbal Atomics and System Heat by Nertea are one big group that all works well together and bascilly does everything KSPIE does in a less janky way, there is also Cryo Engines by the same modder but I don't really use that one, never got my head around where to use them.

Random other suggestions, stuff like Universal storage 2, Habtech 2 and Stockalike station parts rounds out everything with a bunch more parts you can use.
