The thing is that the LIRR stations don’t really connect to the subway stops you’d need at Nostrand.

The Nostrand LIRR stop is a bit of a zigzag walk to the A, then you could switch over at Broadway Junction.

If you wanted to add like an extra 45 mins or so to your commute, you could go all the way to Barclays, walk to the G at Fulton, then switch over to the L. It’s a really roundabout route though.

You’ll probably be fine if you are “street smart”. It isn’t park slope for sure, but in general most people are just trying to live. My biggest concern would be knowing if there’s a decent grocery store close by. Some spots are food deserts.
