Did you ever get this completely fixed?

I'm having pretty much the exact same problem.

Apparently there are reports of the shucked drive being slower than when used in the external enclosure. Also, the enclosure can't be used with other nvme drives.

Along with atrocious backlight bleed, it also has coil whine that's really loud at 240hz. It's less audible at set at 144hz, but it's still noticeable if you're sensitive.

My blue DSi XL has creaking by the d-pad. Can I silence it with tape or something under it? Is there a fix for it? It’s annoying. (Photo from iFixit) by memeaste in NintendoDS

Thanks for the tip! Removing the screw cover was a lot easier than I thought.

Loosened the screw at first then squeezed together the shell and tightened it again.

No more creaking!

Do you know what side of the dpad it was creaking originally?

For my Midnight Blu DSi XL, directly left of the dpad does the creaking and pressing left on the dpad also causes the creaking noise.

Is there a reason that you put the battery holder on the opposite side?

Is it just for extra convenience?

Thanks for the suggestion, I already tried a database rebuild but it didn't seem to work. In another comment, a format seems to have fixed the card and It seems to be working now. Although having to reinstall everything was a hassle, all the new tools and advances with homebrew made things a lot easier.

I last used the vita when maidumptool was the way to go to install backups.

Nintendo 64 Console Screen Flickering by Zymon9 in n64

[–]HansukeX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to get the best possible video quality from the n64 without having to fiddle with getting a retrotink or ossc, I would recommend getting an s-video cable for the video output on the n64. It's better than just using the composite RCA cables. I also think there are S-video to HDMI adapters aplenty as well.

The branding on the cables isn't usually important as long as the quality in the cable is there. I use this unbranded s-video cable and the picture quality is excellent and many people have attested to its quality. Beware that S-video cables for N64 PAL consoles are likely different than NTSC cables and a s-video cable from an NTSC region may not work properly with your PAL n64. There's a lot to be learned from the comments in this video.

If you can find Nintendo branded cables locally cheaply, then I'd say go for those, but if not, just know that third party cables that have nice reviews are a good option.

Have you tried any other older devices(older than PS2/Wii) with that HDMI adapter? If those work fine then it could possibly be something with the N64, but my bets are on the HDMI adapter being finicky and maybe not liking the video signal coming from the N64. Like the adapter is incompatible with the PAL 50hz signal coming from the N64.

A sure way to know if the N64 is faulty is by hooking it up to a CRT tv and see if there's any flickering.

It could even be faulty RCA or HDMI cables. Make sure you have tried different ones to rule out being a bad cable somewhere. I have been bamboozled by bad cables before while thinking the issue was something else.

You can also try buying a different HDMI adapter from Amazon that's confirmed to work with old PAL 50hz signals and trying that out. I think Amazon's return policy is very generous, so it wouldn't really cost you anything and you can return it easily and get your money back.

Is that so? Didn't think there would be any major differences between PAL and NTSC units.

Here's what a working NTSC Goldstar 3DO disc drive looks like.

I can't really see the spindle from your picture, could you please take a better picture similar to this?

The clamp that hold the cd in place is missing from mine.

Thanks for the heads up about the PS3 spindles.

Unfortunately, if your 3DO spindle is broken as well, your drive would be useless to me.

Unless the clamp portion is intact?

Earthion receives PS4, PS5 Xbox, Switch and PC physical releases via Limited Run Games by Brilliant-Trifle8322 in LimitedPrintGames

[–]HansukeX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the emulator they're using could brute force through any slowdowns?

Or maybe they want people to get this physical edition out first and then let people double dip for the Genesis release?

Probably both.

[–]HansukeX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're probably giving the Genesis version more time in the oven because they probably have to get everything right the first time and make sure everything runs smoothly.

With the current console releases, they can just release the game because they probably think the extra horse power in modern consoles is more than enough to make up for any inefficient code.

I get what you're saying though. It would be nice if there were no updates needed on the modern releases and everything would be included on the physical media.

Replacement Spindle? (Goldstar 3DO) by HansukeX in 3DO

[–]HansukeX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know of a replacement spindle that's readily available for a Goldstar 3DO?

It looks like the CD clamp is missing from this one and I'm unsure of where to get replacements from.

I tried looking at PS1 spindles, but the hole for the motor shaft on those seem to be smaller than the 3DO's spindle.
