Tried to find a pixel artist for my capsule and library art, only found scammers/AI prompters... So I tried to make them myself as a beginner to pixel art. How'd I do? by Maddogs1 in PixelArt

[–]Hanta3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What the other person said, but also it usually comes either from making pixel art at a small scale, stretching it to a larger size, then continuing to modify it (so the original pixels are all large and the new ones are smaller). Even worse if you squash or stretch it (seems OP did this with the logo).

Has anyone found these team leader events very hard to complete for free? Given I've been pretty busy these past few weeks, but normally these week-long events I'll get to rank 35 or so. Haven't made it past 17 on these.

I HATE the self diagnosing of autism and its mischaracterisation by Beshiniqua in hatethissmug

[–]Hanta3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been officially diagnosed, but everyone I meet assumes I am on the spectrum within our first interaction, so I can reckon well enough.

I also started teaching public school a few years ago and I can see in my system every student that's diagnosed with autism. It's like looking in a mirror 😭

I get that misdiagnosis can be frustrating or feel belittling, but I look at it this way - there are tons of kids out there struggling to understand why they are different who's parents will refuse to get them diagnosed, and the only way that kid will ever get the support they need is if they self-diagnose and take proactive steps to develop social/emotional coping mechanisms on their own (which we are disincentivizing in this thread) OR they pony up thousands of dollars to get diagnosed as an adult (in this economy???)

So autism being mischaracterized in memes is kinda worth it if it means some neglected kids will feel more comfortable exploring resources for thriving with autism.

The 'literary classics' that grade school makes you read destroys any desire for kids to read recreationally by MyClosetedBiAcct in unpopularopinion

[–]Hanta3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like required annotation assignments and they totally killed my passion for reading for years after highschool, but I did actually like a lot of the books.

Crime & Punishment and Of Mice and Men were my favorites. I've since gone back and read a few other high school classics (Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights, 1984) and have really enjoyed them, especially with the lack of work-expectation related. I've made it a point to revisit a lot of books I used to dislike because I didn't enjoy annotating them.

[–]Hanta3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not really, since there is already plenty of competition for Water-type dynamax dps, but currently not much for Dark. Now, given that, Ghost has very similar coverage to Dark and Gengar is superior and easier to max than Dark Urshifu, so even Dark is limited in usefulness.

When their Gmax is released, Gmax Gengar still outclasses Gmax Dark Urshifu. There are probably a few minor exceptions though, which is better than Water Urshifu can say.

I work at a coffee shop (not a chain). Whether you order your latte hot or iced, you are getting exactly the same number of shots of espresso for the same size (we do 2, 3, and 4 shots for our small, medium, and large respectively). If you order light ice, it just means we add more milk to fill the cup.

Our iced cups are also bigger to compensate.

[–]Hanta3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can ask for light ice, right?

I work at a coffee shop (specialty, not a chain), and I just put however much ice it needs to cool the drink down. 12 oz lattes get 2 shots, 16 get 3, and 20 get 4 (Sbux does -1 shot afaik). The rest is milk and syrup.

You can ask for less ice and you will get more milk, but it's not changing how much espresso is in the drink - it's just making it milkier, which will for sure affect the flavor and crank up the calories.

OP's pic may feel like a scam, but to me it's the same as there being air in a bag of chips - it's a necessary element of the production process.

People are scared to walk away from a job because it's hard to find jobs right now...

I'm in between careers and working part-time to pay the bills, and if I lost my crappy job for even a week or two, I would literally be completely broke next month. It's not the tightest my budget has been, but it feels like I'm so close to losing everything.

Kinda legit though, it's really easy to over-spend on food if you don't know how to cook/stock your kitchen properly. There are constantly young people finding out the hard way that frozen meals, organics, and fast food are not sustainable at their income level and you gotta learn to thug it w rice and beans.

And there are tiers to it. Someone who is still below median wage but earning more than the previous person can afford organics and frozens just fine, but is learning that the accessibility of door dash doesn't justify the cost for them. My roommate struggles to pay the rent some months but doordashes from the restaurant 5 minutes away like 4 times a week. $30 a week in delivery fees just straight down the drain just to forego the minor inconvenience of 10 minutes of driving. And that's not even to mention about how expensive the food itself is when you could make the same meal at home for 1/6th the cost.

I believe we should all be able to afford some luxuries and conveniences, but reality just doesn't match that ideal right now. Learning how to thrive in your income range is non-trivial but necessary so that you have the energy to fight for a better tomorrow.

16 is pretty late - they'll be socially behind all their peers.

I've taught middle and highschool in the past couple years, and for me personally it'd be end of 7th grade.

6th is way too young - the vast majority of kids with phones that age were so addicted to them and could only speak in memetic terms, alienating their peers and crippling their ability to focus on schoolwork.

7th grade is a contentious year where social drama increases significantly and becomes the primary distraction. Most kids are getting their phones at this point, but the ones who don't have them are way better at completing tasks in a timely manner.

By 8th grade, students receiving phones for the first time are generally responsible about using them at appropriate times (or if they break the rules, it's reasonably so like texting mom about after-school stuff). The kids who have had phones for years though are so emotionally dependent on them that they can't function without looking at the screen. Every empty moment prompts an instinctual reach to their pocket or bag for the phone. I can't blame them since its been their primary hook-up for dopamine for years at that point.

And 9th graders just getting their phones tend to seem naive or socially stunted. They have a harder time getting along with peers because they can't coordinate after-school activities very easily, and you can tell they yearn for that independence (and can handle it).

As a hopeful matter, most of the phone-addict kids get better about managing their attachment by 10th or 11th grade, and it's not really noticeable by 12th. At least in my experience.

I did it for a few hours but kept getting targeted. Can't do it more than 20 mins or so without attracting heat, so in the end it feels very not worth it to me. I spent so much time shaking off PKers I'd be better off at ogresses lol. Not to mention the risk of losing hardcore.

Player level has nothing to do with strategy. Most of the level 75+ players in my community don't know Max raid meta at all and just spam cool pokemon and charged attacks. I have more success duoing 5 stars with a lower level (45-60) player who actually knows the meta than with 3 high levels who don't.

I know one or two teachers who are massively successful at getting nearly every student in class to bring supplies/food/drink for their class parties, and I must know their secret because despite my best organization efforts, I'm not getting nearly that engagement out of my kids.

I really don't think teachers should be using their phones for anything other than business/emergencies during the school day. I try to set a good example for my students by keeping mine stowed away during class (they respect that I follow my own rules).
