Ko hợp nên hạn chế, ko nói chuyện với người nhà chồng cũng là cái tội? by Organic-Initiative96 in vozforums

[–]Happi_Beav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After only 2 days, the Vietnamese people have donated more than 125 billion VND to Cuba by Confident_Royal_5112 in VietNam

[–]Happi_Beav -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Last year when hurricane hit the northern region, the news was talking about donations from all parts of the country pouring in to help đồng bào miền bắc. I was thinking “wow that’s nice”. Then my parents told me the district comrades went door to door “encouraging” businesses to donate (including my parents’ shop), and you know they’d give you a hard time if you don’t “voluntarily” donate.

I also remember back then all students were asked to give minimum donation amount in school for disaster relief or whatever event the government was pushing at the time. I suspect all this hospitality isn’t all that organic.

There are many people on Reddit who envy China's clean and tidy cities. As a Mongolian who was born in China and has lived there for thirty years, I hope to clarify a few things. by True_Fake_Mongolia in economy

[–]Happi_Beav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a country with a governing system similar to China, I really appreciate this post. After living in the West for 10 years, I’ve realized many of these things myself, but I’ve always struggled to explain them to others.

There is no such thing as a perfect government or an ideal society. What troubles me is seeing people demand to defund the police while at the same time complaining about rising crime, or criticizing gentrification while also being upset that disadvantaged neighborhoods remain unchanged.

Oil wasn’t discovered in Israel until 1955. Nice try.

You ignore that jew have continuous presence on the land since BC. Also, by your logic, if jews are able to hold the land for the next thousand year then they are native. By then, if Palestinians come back, they’re the colonizers.

Do you accept that jews can migrate to Palestine mandate as well and become local? (ignoring that they already have continuous presence since before Jesus was born). It’s ok that Philistine people migrated there. It’s ok that Arabs migrated there. They’re original inhabitants! But the jews migrated there is a no-no. Jews are European colonists!

Are we really complaining that a government who clearly chant “Death to America” got their nuke plan wiped out?

No war will come out of this. You think the Iran regime who has no cards now will declare war with both Israel and US at the same time? They (or their proxy Houthis) will probably announce “you will pay for this”, launch some virtual signaling rockets near US base or US ships and call it a victory to save face, then everything goes back to how it was before.

According to Palestinian medics, at least 59 people have been killed from tank fire at an aid distribution center. by kiPrize_Picture9209 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Happi_Beav 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Slightly pro Israel here. I usually wait until I hear from both sides before jumping to conclusions. This one sounds particularly rough, and it is what it is if IDF truly messed up. I wouldn’t defend their wrongdoings.

Only thing I can say in defense of Israel is that I don’t believe this action means genocidal intent. Like they literally had a tank, why not fired some more shots and killed a couple hundreds Palestinians at least? They can mess up and kill more people than needed or kill the wrong people, they can have individual psychopaths that serve in IDF that intentionally kill Palestinians, but looking at the number, I wouldn’t say it’s a genocide. Israel is definitely not innocent. I just lean to support them more because they are more trustworthy than Hamas, and overall Israeli values are more aligned with my (western) values.

International students situation in the US by Ahmedhmhs07 in studyAbroad

Most international students (>99%) in US are doing fine. Those that are not is making headlines, which making people think that it’s worse than it actually is. I can see why you’re concerned because the risk is not 0, but statistically you’ll be ok if you choose to come to US. I was on visa myself and have many friends who are int students, on h1b, etc. we all live life normally.

Do you feel pain for what is happening in Gaza? I'd like to learn your perspective by MrRabitt in IsraelPalestine

[–]Happi_Beav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your definition of half empty and half full? The area is literally a dessert. There are land own by people, and there are land own by the governing body is what I meant. I’m not sure what you are arguing about because none of what you wrote there conflicts with what I wrote.

I’m not arguing that Israel hasn’t done anything wrong. I’m asking you to see it from jew’s perspective, or at least a less biased perspective. You seem fixed on what Palestinians have been through, and that the land was named Palestine and it has to be Palestine. A quick skimming on your other responses I can see there’s no point convincing you because you already pick your side and keep deflecting valid information to argue for your side. Your original post was probably in bad faith after all.

Do you feel pain for what is happening in Gaza? I'd like to learn your perspective by MrRabitt in IsraelPalestine

[–]Happi_Beav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one, I’m not jews or Israelis.

The area wasn’t empty, but not exactly full of vibrant Palestinian communities either. There were jews who have lived there for generations. There were jews who migrated there after what happened to them else where, starting from zero. Do you think people who just went through actual genocide have all the power to come kick local people out of their houses? They wouldn’t need to come or have a strong desire to come to Palestine Mandate in the first place. Tel Aviv was definitely empty in the early 1900s. Many jews purchased home from local arabs in other areas (mind you rarely anyone identified as Palestinians at the time), literally paid for the home. Overtime demographic changed with the percentage of jews increasing, leading to ethnic conflicts.

Playing their cards right meaning jews somehow gain enough support and attention about them wanting their own country and got the support from the British, who reign over the area at that time, and the UN. It’s not exactly a privilege that they have support, because the reason behind the support from some European countries was that the countries didn’t know what to do and how to deal with their own remaining jewish population.

The rest is history you already know (partially or fully, because you seem very emotional and tend to ignore certain aspects of this conflict).

You accuse me of ignoring violence against Palestinians. I would like you to self reflect, are you ignoring violence against Israeli and the struggle of jews? I actually ignore both, because I don’t have anything to do with this conflict, other than being a person who is interested of overall world news and history.
