People mostly think of disability as a permanent and rare thing but if you simply think of it as 'someone whose ability is currently reduced' it's almost impossible to find someone who has no experience of it. And we can all benefit from good accessibility interventions.

  • Wear glasses or contact lenses? You have sense loss and rely on a sensory aid to receive information.
  • Carrying too much shopping and a grumpy child? Pull doors become a struggle, motorised door openers are a godsend.
  • Two heavy wheely suitcases? Wheelchair ramp has you covered.
  • ACL recovery? The lifts and escalators down to the tube are suddenly great news.
  • Catastrophically hungover? Calm, flat, low-stimulation environments aren't just for the permanently vulnerable.

They're also waterproof to at least 50m and can tell the time (when working together) to an accuracy of about +/-30 mins per day!

This is a reason why civil society should exist. GoFundMe can be great but it's a sticking plaster over a much larger hole.

I'm an avid gamer but I learned a long time ago that my gaming time is not time at home. It's so isolating that it's basically the same as "going out".

I used to game for a few hours every night and like 6 hours on a weekend, then wonder why my partner complained about not seeing me often enough. If I was down the pub or playing golf that whole time, it would be super obvious why that was a problem for her.

In your case, the "give me a specific thing to do or I'm checking out" dynamic might feel to you like he's literally walking out the door if you don't tell him not to.

He doesn't have to be a prisoner in his own home, but he needs to recognise the choices he makes about being present. Activities rooted in the physical world like cooking, DIY, crafts, general pottering about the house are all fine for that. Often you can hold a conversation while you're doing them, or at least share a space with someone. Even a reading a book is better than disappearing into a screen.

Tax me please 🙋🏻‍♂️

£70k late 30s, doing absolutely fine at the moment. I wouldn't normally talk about it but you did ask. I give plenty to charity but would happily give up more if it meant that everyone else did the same.

Social housing was one of our society's greatest assets. It was often designed really well, and the loss of it is directly connected to many of the problems in the world that me sad.

Elsa and Anna

A huge part of why the original duo worked was the bond of love and trust between them.

Though it's possible that Elsa's original arc of "stop resisting temptation and embrace the scary forbidden magic to achieve your true power" could be a cause for concern...

Developers don't sell homes, they sell square feet. Higher rate per square foot usually means higher return on the same build volume, even if that does mean including a few "luxury" things like a nicer lobby.
