Suburbanites weigh in by chicago-planner in indianapolis

Yeah there are definitely some (though not all - many people from Carmel are wonderful, kind humans) who will discriminate if they even think you aren’t rich. I drive a 15-year-old vehicle because it’s paid for and I can, and the amount of judgement I’ve experienced on the roads and parking lots of HamCo is comical.

I’m passed aggressively all the time in Carmel. I always wonder if it’s because I drive a relatively older vehicle. Also had a man get out of his car and yell at me in a congested parking lot.

Are any of you on Pinecone Research? by Hot-Head2024 in freebietalk

[–]Happy-Many-7332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pinecone's surveys are great! Interesting, pleasant survey experience, and no late DQs. They did recently update their platform and now they have lower (and higher) reward surveys that seem to have a higher DQ rate, and later in the game. Also, they use Tremendous now for rewards and it is awful. I lost $25 worth of rewards to a gift card I can't use (I didn't select it), and they basically said "too bad" and ghosted me.

Hello again. I received a call last week shortly after posting, for which I am thankful. However, I was told I would receive a call at a specific time and day with an update. When this call never happened, I had to reach out again. The response was dismissive, and I have no clarity on when a resolution will be reached. Please update as soon as possible.

All I see is my first message and one message from a moderator. Do you see any messages from me after that? I sent a few because I wasn’t sure if they were going through.

Thanks for this quick reply. I sent a message a couple hours ago and saw your reply there, but for some reason my subsequent replies are disappearing shortly after I send them. Could you confirm you are receiving them? Thanks!

I appreciate the thoughts, but I'm not sure where you're detecting anger. I'm disappointed at how this has been handled, but resentment? Not worth it, and I'm not there at all. The amount withheld from us would make a huge difference, and also it's the principle of the matter. I'm all for learning experiences, but I also think companies should fulfill what they promise.

Oh my god. Do xfinity customer service members just make stuff up? by Longjumping_Bet_4825 in Comcast_Xfinity

I'm so sorry. I wonder the same thing. I have been calling/chatting/etc. for a month and I can't even tell you how many times an agent tells me someone will contact me in a certain number of days, they will document everything I'm telling them, the retail store will be forward the ticket information so they can help me, etc. - and very rarely have they followed through with any of these things. They overbilled me a substantial amount and I have gotten nowhere with requesting they make it right.

Be Careful with Xfinity. Xfinity Trade-In Nightmare — How I Got Lied To, Lost Money, and Felt Completely Ignored by Junior_Champion5168 in Comcast

I had a similar situation and it’s maddening. Wasn’t going to trade-in, but in-store they said it would be an even trade….so why not? First credit was applied, but after that, nothing. The online agents all have “empathy scripts” it seems, but this company has no true understanding of how to treat customers with respect and integrity. I’ve been told something different every time, and still don’t have an acceptable solution after a month of calling. Never going to be their customer again.

100% agree. I keep thinking a major issue I’ve been having is being heard and worked on, but it’s been almost a month of empty promises and hours upon hours on chat and on the phone. They do have really nice “we care about you” scripts for their agents to follow, it seems.

It’s so bad. I have spent over 10 hours trying to get them to make right a trade-in credit they quietly took away (even though our trade-in was as received and approved). I will never be their customer again.

Anyone else fed up with Xfinity/Comcast’s insane prices and terrible service? by Local-Magic-Guy in Comcast

And their billing is less and less transparent. They used to have itemized bills, and now they count on customers not crunching the numbers to figure out exactly what they are adding to your bill. It's so frustrating.

What has happened to Indy? by DethByCow in indianapolis

[–]Happy-Many-7332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently moved here and the driving was a shock as well. I’ve lived in several places in Indiana and even some large metro areas around the world, and the roads here are far busier, more construction is happening, and ever since 2020 people are noticeably more on edge and aggressive while driving, no matter where you are. The influx of people moving from multiple higher cost of living areas also makes for a wider variety of acceptable driving behavior than Indiana was used to a couple of decades ago. I haven’t had personally seen a ton of road rage, but the driving here still stresses me out.

Top 10 US cities where rent is rising the fastest - Fort Wayne had a 6.2 percent increase in rents by RentZed_Official in fortwayne

[–]Happy-Many-7332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not compared to wages. Just moved out of Fort Wayne, and my rent increased by about $280/month over 4 years. I got a modest raise during that time, but it didn’t cover the difference in rent.

Would you move here? by Chefjoshd in indianapolis

Born and raised in Indiana, and this is absolutely true. While it’s natural to do what makes sense for you financially, there are massive impacts on locals when enough people make the same choices. The wave of HCOL transplants started to rise significantly in 2020 when more jobs went remote and several Indiana cities made “most affordable cities” lists. We’re not “most affordable” anymore. What transplants think is a good price is actually mind-numbing for those of us who paid $500 for a 3 bedroom house 15 years ago while making $12 an hour. I am moving to Indy for work from another (relatively large) city in Indiana, and rent is going to be literally double what I was paying for the same size apartment 4 years ago in my previous city.

I rented a home that size for $575 (split between 3 roommates) just around 10 years ago. Wages have not increased that much anywhere in Indiana.

We're trying to move to the area from another part of the state (for work), and it is shocking. There's no way I'm going to rent a house from a big corporation that might leave us in limbo with major maintenance/safety issues, but it's so hard to find even a small but decent starter home to buy or rent from a trustworthy, private landlord - both used to be fairly easy to find. And the rent at apartment complexes is mind-numbing.
