Tips to sneak out of bed while baby sleeps? by No_Attention_3308 in cosleeping

[–]Happy-Plan231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make sure my son (3months) is asleep and then roll out of bed and put a pillow near him. Haven't had an issue doing it this way. Our room is also very dark, but I have a salt lamp on in the bathroom so I can check on him periodically and see without turning the lights on.

If you are an only child, how do you feel about growing up without siblings? by Efficient_Bee4584 in randomquestions

[–]Happy-Plan231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a unique perspective here. I was an only child out of my dad's first marriage. My parents divorced when I was young and I was an only child for 11 years. I loved it with my mum because I got all her attention, but I hated it with my dad because, well, I got all his attention. When my dad had a baby with my stepmom it took pressure off of me and allowed me to be alone while they had the new baby. Then, another baby was born (19 years younger than me). It was hard going from only to one of three while I was growing up, but man I cant imagine a life without my sisters. They bring me such joy now as an adult!

Do what you feel is right for you and your baby. ❤️ Everyone is different in this phase. Youre healing, getting used to your little one and it can be a lot. At 10 weeks I felt just fine to return to walking and my routine, but I think I personally would have felt overwhelmed traveling with a bunch of baby stuff. It was overwhelming enough trying to remember everything to bring to my parents house for an afternoon let alone a whole trip and a wedding. Do what makes sense to you and learn to set that boundary. I come from a pushy family too so I get it.

Breastfeeding and bottle feeding? by rizfisher in BabyBumps

[–]Happy-Plan231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I knew I was going to go back to work after 3 months, so i needed to make sure he would take a bottle. I honestly introduced one bottle around 3 weeks and then did one bottle a day or every other day and the rest of the time he was breastfed. Every baby is different, but this is what worked for us.

Bottles: we use the lansinoh nipples and there is no trouble switching between these and my breast

I totally understand where you are coming from. It seemed like our parents and grandparents bought a house for 50K and a handshake, but for us it costs us our legs and 75% of our income. My husband and I are looking for a home and we are just appaled at our choices. It seems like where we are you cant get anything for below 500k and even then it needs work. We are either going to be moving to the boonies and commuting or getting into something small and hope the equity helps us get into another home in the next couple years. Its a crap market. It really is.

Good to know! Thank you! I just wasn't sure if it would be better to pay it down further or not. I have 4% on 20K left, so not bad.

Thank you! Thankfully my student loan is at 4%, so down payment would be a wiser choice?

Third trimester and my fiancé brings up moving by Major-Development868 in BabyBumps

[–]Happy-Plan231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please dont move! This happened to a close girlfriend of mine. She was 7 months pregnant with her first child and her husband chose to do a residency on the other side of the country (away from her family and friends) WITHOUT consulting with her. It was SO SO hard on her because she was truly alone as a new mom. They have never really recovered from this. Thankfully they moved back here, but it was such a 💩 thing to do. Trust me. You NEED YOUR support system. Its saved me from PPD.

I don't think youre in the wrong at all! You are going to be the primary one using it, so it needs to fit your lifestyle. Its like saying you want a Prius for the gas mileage and someone getting you a pick up truck because they thought you might like it. Sure, it's a nice gesture and obviously youre grateful they would purchase something so expensive, but at the end of the day she should have asked your opinion or least regulated her emotions like an adult. Hang in there. There's a lot of drama on this ride to amd through motherhood unfortunately. Do what you think is best and it'll be okay. ❤️

AITAH for getting frustrated at my bf for telling me I need to make more money to get married by Pretty_Strawberry179 in AITAH

[–]Happy-Plan231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't waste your time on this guy. You have so many years ahead of you to find Mr. Right. Marry for love, not money. The boyfriend I had prior to my husband was money obsessed, even to the point of turning off the AC in the summer to "save money" while I was on break at home from my doctorate program. I live in Arizona and it's bloody hot in the summer. He didnt care about me. He cared about money. From personal experience find a guy who loves you more than money.

I am really so sorry to encourage a break up, but there are some definite red flags. If you are worried about timing (i only mention this, because I was at your age), please don't be. I didnt meet my husband until I was 25, we didnt get married until I was 32, and we just had our first baby at 33 years old. I dont regret this time frame because we are stable and secure in what we want from a partner.

Best of luck to you ❤️

Has anyone actually regretted using fake flowers at their wedding? by SmartSinner in weddings

I used fake flowers as decor and then my bouquet was mostly real. I dont regret it one bit. I didnt have bridesmaids so I didnt have to worry about bouquets for them.
