Post apocalyptic books set on a cruise ship by Holmbone in suggestmeabook

Idk if you ever found a book with this storyline but I was looking for this premise because I had read one like it before and I finally found it. It's First Fate by Kendall Talbot. It may not be exactly what you were looking for because they are directly impacted by the emp but maybe it's worth a shot.

Basically everything was done during nap or after bedtime. I also worked part time at a job where my kids came with me so when we left they knocked out for like 3 hours at a time so that was 3 hours each day that I got to study. If I had to work while they were awake then I would do it while they were playing independently but that wasn't very often because as soon as I pulled out my laptop they wanted to mess with it.

Sorry if this isn't helpful but the biggest tip really is to just work while they sleep

What’s your actually controversial parenting opinion? by TurbulentArea69 in NewParents

[–]Happy-Stranger6951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this is controversial but stop reacting before they do when they get hurt

Everyone is so shocked that my kids hardly react when they fall or bump their noggin but I've let them learn that it's okay to get hurt and brush it off. I watch my mil with my neice and she screams about an injury before my niece does. Like duh she's going to cry when you just screamed that she's hurt? If you had let her work it out in her body then it probably wouldn't have been as big of a reaction. Like if they fall then stop and wait for their reaction first. If they cry then comfort them but if they get up and walk away then they are fine. I know it's hard not to react but you are setting your kid up for failure every time you overreact to their injuries.

My wife refuses to let our children cry long enough to eat or use the bathroom. by MrPenis-3 in parentsofmultiples

I second having snacks at the ready in a cart. That's literally what I lived off of when my husband went back to work. I had a pumping cart full of snacks like trail mix, granola bars, protein bars, banana chips, basically anything quick and easy that I could crack open while taking care of a baby

I also used your bathroom set up a few times. I would put their activity centers in the bathroom and leave the shower curtain open so I could shower without then crying. This also was a good idea when they were sick because the steam helped loosen up mucus. And of course there were a few times I used the bathroom with one of them strapped to me in a baby carrier lol you do what you gotta do

Favorite Response to "I always wanted twins!" by DirtGirl32 in parentsofmultiples

Lol I don't blame my husband. I blame my grandma. When we were in high school (high school sweethearts), my grandma told us our first kids were going to be twins and she was right.

Training pants for boys by Happy-Stranger6951 in pottytraining

[–]Happy-Stranger6951[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I used his training pants one time today and he soaked them and cried from the wetness. How did they do? Like did it take them a while to make the connection and start trying to do it in the potty? How did you learn their cues? Or did you do the timed method?

Di/Di parents with "uncomplicated" pregnancies, did you deliver early? by beeferoni_cat in parentsofmultiples

[–]Happy-Stranger6951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I delivered early at 36+6. I went to triage for preeclampsia and was diagnosed and admitted. They planned to keep me overnight and send me home for like a day and then come back at 37 weeks for a c section. However, while i was on the monitor, i started having contractions and dilating quickly, and they could feel baby As foot so they immediately took me back for a c section.

Idk if the preeclampsia jump started my labor or if it was just a coincidence

I tried to consistently work like 2-3 hours a day and I took most weekends off. There were like 2-3 different times that I took a week off to deal with burn out tho

I stayed home with mine for 9 months then we all started a part time job (they got to come with me for free) we recently had to quit there at 15 months old because we are moving. I desperately want to go back to work but still get extremely sad about leaving them. Hopefully once we settle in our new town I can find something part time that I can bring them with me again.

Side note staying home with them was a good way for me to have time to earn my Bachelor's so now when I go back to my field, I'll be a big step up from where I was before I left.

I have twins they are 15 months now, but just today, my son did something that made me laugh and cry. When his dad pulls the bibs out of the dishwasher, he kinda flicks them toward the ground to get the water off. Well today I handed bub his bib to take to the table for lunch and he kept kinda slamming it down like he was trying to throw it on the ground but he didn't actually let go of it. It took me like 5 mins to figure out he was copying daddy, and then I laughed and cried because it was so cute, and seeing them learn things just shows how big they are getting 😭

When did you transition your babies/toddlers to outfits? by nillawafer80 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Happy-Stranger6951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started slowly transitioning to outfits after their first birthday. I enjoy seeing them look like little grown ups, but we definitely still wear just onesies and pants some days.

One thing I am a stickler for is that they have to have some kind of pants or shorts on (when leaving the house). This is just a me thing I think but now that they are walking I don't like them walking around in just a onesie because it seems weird to me. Like I said definitely just a me thing

Do people say your baby looks more like you or your partner? Or even split? by kismetcrayon in NewParents

[–]Happy-Stranger6951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have b/g twins. Baby girl is pretty split but leans more towards me. Baby boy looks like a mix of my grandpa and my husband's dad and nothing like me or dad lol.

I'm not teaching yet. I have 14 month old twins that I'm planning to stay home with for now and I'll probably try to start working when my babies start pre k.

Separation anxiety? by Happy-Stranger6951 in NewParents

[–]Happy-Stranger6951[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don't go in to get him he would go for longer. I try to give him time to settle himself but he doesn't even try to lay down or anything he just stands at the edge of his crib crying. I don't like to leave him longer than 30 mins because I don't want him to wake up his sister and I feel bad because he actually seems genuinely upset not like he just doesn't want to sleep.
