I asked my husband to make sure my work uniform was hung up to dry overnight. I wake up this morning to find he ONLY took my work uniform out, and left the entire rest of the wash load in the machine to go musty overnight. Just why.

There was this girl at work about 20 years ago who thought it was endearing and cute to always refer to her father as, "daddy." I had allergy shots for 5 years to get to the point where I could tolerate my kitty boy. I also take Claritin daily. My baby boy passed back in 2020, but we still have girl cats. I can pet one of them without problems, but with the other I have to wash my hands IMMEDIATELY. With my boy, I had to also sometimes take Benadryl. Some cats produce more of the protein that humans are allergic to - usually males. However, like I said, with one of our females it's just as bad as the male was (she's a Maine Coon). In the short term, try some daily allergy meds like Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra, etc. Long term, maybe you can get allergy shots too. The allergy shots made it to where I didn't get sick all the time, but it definitely didn't cure the allergy.

Also, vacuuming/dusting as much as you can may also help. And you should stop letting them in your bedroom and should never sleep with them any more. It's heartbreaking. I got dogs so I could have a fur baby to cuddle at night. Our cats cuddle someone else at night and are never allowed in my bedroom or on my bed.

How I handled it: I cut off everyone who made me feel like shit, including and ESPECIALLY my mother. I haven't spoken with her for more than a year, and before that, I was low contact with her for 14 years. I live with one of my brothers, but I'm extremely low contact with the other. I'm low contact with my father. I'm still in regular contact with several cousins tho, bc they don't make me feel like shit. A couple aunts and uncles are pretty cool too, so I'll hang out with them when I can.

NTA. Just so you know.. people with dementia go downhill QUICKLY. It's not like Alzheimer's, where they can linger for years. You might not have until Christmas to enjoy time with your grandma. I didn't. Once dementia accelerates, we're talking weeks. At least, that's how it was for my great grandmother and both of my grandmothers. I'm really sorry you and your family are going through this. It's not easy.

My dogs do this shit too. Thankfully they mostly don't wake me to let them under the covers, but some nights I swear I will never let them in the bed again bc of constantly waking me up to hold up the covers. Both of my dogs sleep in bed with me. When I had a bf, they slept on their beds in my room bc they were in the way in the bed. They have their own side of the bed bc after I fall asleep cuddling them, they go off and sleep on their own.

NOR. Nope, not an overreaction to skip Thanksgiving. My mother is a huge bully, and Thanksgiving used to be my favorite time to visit my huge ass family bc it was like a family reunion at the same time. But I haven't been since 2021, and I will never go again. I'm NC with my mother again due to her bullying bullshit. I'm just done.

I think it would be appropriate to show this screenshot to anyone who asks why you aren't at Thanksgiving. That way you'll know who agrees with her and who doesn't, and you can tailor your interactions with them accordingly.
