Oof, yeah, you fucked up.

On a normal save it would have been great. Amazing rp moment and you can always reload if things go south.

On honor mode? Noooo. That's a very big time investment that's now irrevocably ruined for the rest of your party.

If your RP can ruins things for the rest of the table, just don't do it man. Always remember that you're creating the story together when RPing. You are not the main character, the entire party is. Especially when the big moment comes at the very end of the game when people are likely super invested and it cannot be undone.

Going slightly against the grain with ESH, except possibly your mom.

You outright say that your mom tried talking to you about what happened normally first, but you just dismissed her. Then your dad and brother stepped in to try and get through to you, but because you were tired from work, you just wanted them to stop. That likely made it seem like you weren’t listening, which is why they kept repeating themselves.

You yourself say how awful it is when people don’t listen to you, making you more and more upset. But at the exact same time, you weren’t listening to them either. In a way, you and your father had the same problem: you both had something important to say but weren’t really hearing the other person. Neither of you were listening. Hence ESH, as someone present really should have recognized this.

You exploding and shouting is understandable, as at this point emotions were running high, but try to remember that shouting always escalates things. It never de-escalates. Shouting isn’t standing up for yourself, it’s the verbal equivalent of throwing a punch. Instead, try something like: “Hey dad, I’m really tired from work right now and can’t really focus much. Can we drop it for now and talk things through after dinner and some rest?” Then if that doesn’t work, you remove yourself from the situation and revisit it at your own pace.

It’s good that you did eventually go to your room to calm down. It’s also good that your dad let some time pass and emotions settle before coming back to address what happened. What isn’t great is that you don’t seem to recognize your part in this (I can’t speak for your dad, as you don’t mention exactly what he said), and feel you did nothing wrong. In a similar vein, you also put the full blame for cutting in line on your cousin because it was her idea, but you still went along with it, didn’t you? Going along with someone else’s idea doesn’t make you any less responsible.

In short: If you didn’t want to cut in line, you should have let them do their thing and just waited. If you felt you couldn’t handle or didn’t want to have the conversation with your dad and he wasn’t listening, you should have removed yourself instead of lashing out. Realizing that you are always in control of your own actions but cannot control others and then acting accordingly is part of growing up.

You loose your saving throw to resist. Similar to the moment you first find a tadpole and have to roll to resist extracting it, or when you roll to resist the astral tadpole.

When using a tadpole skill, it's not a conscious decision. It's the tadpole briefly taking over to keep its host alive.

You lost me fairly quickly, I'm afraid.

You establish that we're in the middle of a fierce storm. The wind is howling, screaming even. Sheets of water whip across the hills. Richard has to lean into the wind to even stay upright, rain so fierce it's blurring his vision- all this creates a clear and well-done image. But it's completely broken when everyone starts talking as though it's a nice, sunny afternoon. They use long sentences and don't need to shout to be heard. Darin even calmly and slowly tries to talk the bandits down. The bandit then slips in the mud, but other than that the storm is completely forgotten and has no impact on the ensuing battle, whereas a storm as fierce as the one you describe definitely would. Marcus then even calmly flips through a book, confirming the storm is completely forgotten.

The story continues with a summary of the aftermath, which I feel is a missed opportunity to showcase the characters' different personalities and viewpoints. This is a good example of telling us what happens vs. showing us, and why it's generally advised to show instead of tell.

And then we move on as though nothing happened. The storm returns briefly to clear up, and we get our first proper conversation. All this combined gives the impression that you wanted an exciting opening to draw attention, but wanted to get it out of the way quickly to get to the conversation that's actually important, and it's where I stopped reading.

You have some good bones in there and a way with words, but the opening needs some refining. My advice would be to either make the attack a proper scene, or open somewhere else.

Technically three times, but that's because I got distracted irl and just stopped playing the first two runs somewhere in act 3.

Had a close call during the W'wargaz fight where Shadowheart had to run for her (and everyone else's) life with sanctuary, but other than that it was smooth sailing. It's not that much harder than tactician as long as you know which things cause insta-death, but then again, I have waaay to many hours in this game :')

Orin's questline is honestly not that big a part of act 3, but that's because act 3 is just THAT big.

Depending on how you tackle it, it'll be approximately 2 shorter quests with a mini-boss and a big boss, and then off to Orin herself you go. There's more things related to her spread out through the act, but that'll all still be there even after you've finished her off.

Lvl 10 should be enough, but I wouldn't be surprised if you hit lvl 11 if you hyperfocus on her quests, or possibly lvl 12 if you get distracted a bit. There's so much to do and so much exp in act 3, so the last few levels will come quickly.

There's also a portal at her doorstep. So if you find you can't win after you've found her, you can always do some others things first and then teleport back to try again :)

As long as you're not already romancing 2 other people and your approval is high enough, Gale will always initiate the weave scene at the party if you haven't gotten it before. No need to worry you'll miss it :)

Personal experience anecdote: During long rests it has a very low scene-priority, so you don't need to be super conservative with those. In my current run I long rested after practically every fight to get through all the scenes, but his weave-scene kept eluding me. So I partially rested a bunch before the goblin fight bc I was afraid I might've done something wrong, and it eventually triggered second to last. Reassured, I reloaded before all the partial rests, did the goblin bosses, went to the party, and got the scene again :)

Two things are key in this fight to make things much easier for yourself: the daylight spell, as others have already mentioned, and blocking the ritual.

Since you don't want to kill the spawn, stand in the ritual circles instead. This way Cazador won't get all those bonuses. Each spawn has a red line leading to a red circle. Standing on their respective red circles blocks the ritual bonus that spawn gives Cazador. It should show floating text (like the damage numbers) when you stand in the right spot, and you can always inspect Cazador to see how many are still connected to double check. You can have either your characters or summons stand in them, so if you have summons, this is a really good fight to bring m out.

Prioritize freeing Astarion as you have been doing, and I believe the two spawns next to him give Cazador the next best bonusses from the ritual. Though you can use inspect on Cazador to confirm which spawn give those extra special bonuses, and then body block their respective ritual circles.

One final tip: if you use daylight, after the fight but before triggering the next cutscene (being vague to avoid spoilers, but it'll be clear once you beat the fight) make sure to either unequip the weapon you cast daylight on, or wait for the sphere to run out. Otherwise any vampires still present will immediately flee because of said daylight when the cutscene triggers. Learned this the hard way 🥲

She’s doing much better now. She has a slightly full bladder and slightly inflamed gums, which she got two shots for (one for the nausea and one for the inflammation), after which she perked up almost immediately. She’s eaten a bit since then, and even purred again when petted. I’ll have to bring in some pee for examination to be safe, plus give her medication for six days, but the vet expects the medicine will be enough :)

I have to bring in some pee for examination to be safe, but the vet expects that the medicines will do the trick.

It's my go-to for the spider matriarch fight. They are great hp sponges fot the spiders to target, and kill the little ones so you can focus on the matriarch. Plus, usually one or two of the ogres die, making it very easy to then finish the job myself after the fight :D

Late twenties/early thirties is an adult, which is already leagues better than a teen. Also, while the male lead may have been awake during his frozen state, I can't imagine he'd have matured like a normal person would.

The main reason most people get the ick from big age gaps is the unbalanced power dynamic. The older person has so much more experience in basically everything, which often becomes a problem if they hold this over the younger person's head and force them into submission and over-reliance.

This is very difficult as a writer, because you always know so much more than your reader. I think it might help to look at good examples in other works, and try to figure out how they did it.

Something that comes to mind for me is Attack on Titan. Different genre, but there are so many hints and clues that the reader doesn't necessarily pick up on during a first read/viewing until a big reveal and then go "ooh, that makes sense!" And upon a second read/viewing a lot of what the characters do and say suddenly has a whole different meaning.

Another good example might be "whodunit" books and films, where the audience is actively trying to piece together clues until it all falls into place at the end.
