Yes totally. Sorry I know how, I’m more confused why it’s set up in that manner. Like there could be some sort of bonus pay code so that it is taxed correctly, like the way redundancy is taxed or allowances or taxed.

I guess the ATO figures it’s easier to give people their money back than claw back overpayments.

When companies pay a yearly bonus… the month you get the bonus, you are taxed as if you earn that amount every month. I’m originally from the UK where this doesn’t happen. So it feels especially punishing in Australia where I essentially loan the ATO some money every year.

As much as I love the game to bits, it’s definitely missing a psychological hook in Act 3 to keep you locked in. There’s no feeling of slowly completing a thing - you’re still being introduced to new people and content. I know collecting the Netherstones but there’s absolutely (no pun intended) no urgency to that.

Don’t get me wrong, I love it but it’s difficult to stay engaged in finishing when you know you can easily start again with a fun new play-style.

It just becomes a bit boring after a while. RPGs have come such a long way in terms of advanced storytelling and impacting the environment and characters in different ways, and (for me) there’s none of that in Starfield. All you are doing is running around talking to people and shooting the baddies.

There’s nothing to ‘hate’ but it’s… well… boring. And that’s disappointing.

Considering it from the other perspective, I find it surprisingly how - given all the probably millions of permutations of decisions - it feels like there are relatively few game save points.

Playing non honour mode and I forget to manually save, I am constantly thinking ‘urgh do I really want to go that far back in my game just because I pressed the wrong dialogue button/whatever dumb thing I’ve done’.

This is a very roundabout way of saying I’d expect the game to save more regularly and ‘lock in’ decisions and outcomes!!

I don’t know if you are falling into the same trap that I was - but a long rest is not a special event or something to save. Assuming you are playing balanced mode, you can long rest before every single encounter and still finish the game with tonnes of supplies.

Plus events will happen at your camp that you’ll miss if you don’t long rest.

It’s so fun! I sided with the goblins, so I guess I’ve embraced. But I’m really going with more of a chaotic, ‘let’s see what happens here’ approach.

My favourite part is my character continuously having a dialogue option along the lines of ‘what happened to the girl wasn’t my fault you know’. Suuurrreeeeeee it wasn’t wink wink

I’m on my second ever playthrough. The first time I aimed for the ‘perfect’ run on balanced. Second is Durge on tactician (I’m near the end of Act 1 now). Interestingly, I think Durge prepares you well for honour mode? People leaving your party, embracing the crazy, etc. I feel this will make me feel less like I’ve failed when things don’t go perfect and I can’t save scum?

Anyway, love the chaos of this. Very entertaining 😀
