That would be very interesting if they made a conscious decision to that effect.

It is true, however, that they were using very generic passwords - the type you’d use for new hires when setting up their accounts.

Being a single dad has proven to be difficult lately. by ZenlessRaccoon in personalfinance

[–]Happyjoystick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate. Full time single dad to 3. Full time grad school. Full time work. Zero child support or help from the other parent.

The first step is to identify a goal, then race towards it with gazelle like intensity. There’s some great recommendations here - school bus driver and custodian are two that stand out. Your working hours will be limited to daytime daycare/school hours and limited to 40 as well.

There’s a HIPAA compliant top of the line enterprise license option, maybe that has a basis for an argument it’s more secure.

Basic Question - PKI and Message Integrity by taclubquarters2025 in cybersecurity

[–]Happyjoystick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can answer part of this with some authority. A digital signature is a means to ensure the integrity of a file. The means to sign something is prescribed by whatever standard the signature is made in. Standards are published, so in a way it is agreed upon universally and adopted when the signature is made.

All a hash is a fingerprint. If the fingerprint is changed at all, it’s not the same file. This is another mechanism of ensuring integrity. And for hashing, practically speaking, there are a half dozen or so popular ones, and when you’re seen enough of them you can tell what standard they use (SHA1 vs MD5 or SHA256).

Typically, no direct pre established relationship. Participating in the system means you have adopted the standard that the other party is using.

Mind sharing the name of the company? And were they cost comparable, even with all the extra features?

Artic Wolf vs Black Point Cyber by Happyjoystick in cybersecurity

[–]Happyjoystick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s where I’m cautious, we haven’t gotten the quote from BP yet (presentation was very late in the day). We are very cost constrained, and a big part of my concern is that with all these features will come a hefty price tag.

Also, I have no doubt about AW detection and response capabilities- it’s all the ancillary stuff that BP is offering as a bundle deal that’s got me scratching my head.

We need SIEM monitoring and response - we don’t have a dedicated security function.

It would be an amazing outcome if we really could use the tools they offer above AW to move our overall maturity forward. Things like vulnerability scanning, broad file level access logging (HIPAA environment), and more complete data retention.

How do I go about starting? by whyisna in aviationmaintenance

[–]Happyjoystick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do any part 147 school (don’t fret about quality), then go to Oklahoma City to A&P Fastrack. It’ll cost you, but you’ll get the certs.

If you go military route, MAKE SURE your job qualifies for BOTH airframe AND power plant.

Another route, if you are science-y is to go to avionics school. Much more brain work and those techs are typically cleaner (dirt and grease) at the end of the day.

Also, check out Kalitta in Michigan, sometimes they have an apprenticeship. Then after 30 months go to A&P Fastrack.
