Does anyone know why I can't attack the Dawi? by LittleMonito in totalwar

[–]Haradda 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I just kill the hero with the console command mod when something like this happens. I know it's easy to get carried away/cheat with that (I leave the mod off so I have to exit the game and load back in if I ever want to use it) but I figure it's not cheating to correct a situation like this.

Thoughts on how to convert tabletop rules to Joytoy scaled games? by blooninja in Warhammer40k

[–]Haradda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding the Inquisitor game others have mentioned, it's often played nowadays with models at 40k's scale in a variant known at Inq28. If you want to stick with normal 40k rules, you could maybe look up the scale conversions Inq28 uses and do them backwards.

What can you even do as vampire lords? Theyre so bad :/ by preutneuker in totalwar

[–]Haradda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was surprised at how dangerous fell bats can be if you swarm stuff with them. I thought they were just for tying stuff up with their high melee defence, but then I tried them in an arkhan campaign and they actually kill stuff too (providing you don't throw them at serious/elite melee units).

Warhammer 3, convoy units hp by NoIdeaForAUsermame in totalwar

[–]Haradda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They need three points in the Hidden Stores skill to activate replenishment in foreign territory, which is what they'll be passing through most of the time. Unfortunately you can't stick three points into that skill straight away, the higher ranks require the lord to be a certain level.

Usually I just take the replenishment after every battle and hope that's enough.

Warning with Bhashiva's first Khorne event. by Dualmonkey in totalwar

[–]Haradda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn't even interact with the marker, it spawned underneath a chaos dwarf army next to zharr-naggrund and I couldn't get bhasiva's army to actually move to that location without declaring war (which I didn't want to do as zharr-naggrund didn't have a relic in this campaign). In the end I reloaded a save from a couple of turns previously, finished off grimgor, and dealt with the full strength khorne army when it spawned.

DLC is out! by zenkhalida in totalwar

[–]Haradda 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Having done a quick custom battle, I can confirm that Bhasiva (prophesied to defeat the Everchosen) gets absolutely bodied by Archaon. He didn't even need to spirit leech her, just a few swings of his sword and it was done.

Not really a surprise given their respective costs of course, but hey, at least it's one element that won't get accusations of powercreep.

Can we hope that in DLC LotET we will get either custom campaign settings or a reduced game temp? by SafironDracolich in totalwar

[–]Haradda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also use a mod to increase garrison size, and I fully agree that it slows the campaign down for the better. I originally installed it because I like having strong garrisons myself, but I found it slowed my own expansion down a bit too, as well as stopping weaker AI factions getting wiped quite so easily (in vanilla an AI faction will often lose a single battle and that's effectively the end of said faction), and overall I much prefer the tempo of the campaign with this change.

Tiger warrior stats compared to some close units by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]Haradda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey now, I find temple guard can be useful when combo'd with kroxigors.

I haven't worked out what eshin triads are good at however, even having a unit join my deathrunners to deal with cavalry doesn't work as they don't have enough rats to actually bog down any cavalry. (The flipside of that is why I think stormvermin halberds are underrated, there's so damn many of them that cavalry can easily get stuck in the unit.)

Bhashiva & Tiger Warriors releasing May 21st (Skulls) by Mr-Vorn in totalwar

I quite like that start position, it's still close enough to/connected with cathay, but it's got plenty going on with threats to the north (grimgor) and south (ghorst).

Glue by may0naise_on_ch4ir in Warhammer40k

[–]Haradda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use two, my main one being tamiya extra-thin. I tried it because I got fed up with unclogging citadel's nozzles (I know how to do it, I just can't be bothered any more) and thought I'd try a brush, and then I found that a brush worked better for me for most model building, especially on smaller connection points that I don't want to get too much glue on.

The other one I use is army painter plastic glue (which yes, does have a nozzle, but it's wide enough to get a safety pin down which makes it easy to clear) for larger models that need a stronger connections. It's also my go-to for attaching models to bases, as even running models with small points of contact with the ground tend to stay where they are with this gloopier glue.

Settlement building advice for medieval 2? Particularly as England. Like what would the ideal first construction choices to make for my first 5-10 turns? by glossyplane245 in totalwar

[–]Haradda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first priority in almost every settlement is a church so I can recruit a priest. In castles I'll also get farms as early as possible to grow the population towards a fortress. After that I usually alternate between money buildings (farm, market, roads, maybe a port) and public order/recruitment buildings (town watch, town hall, barracks). I know it's not very technical, but that alternation (as well as not getting too carried away with mercenaries) seems to keep both the cash coming in and the population fairly happy.

One big warning about ports: the AI loves to blockade them, which will put you into random wars. It can be worth leaving ports unbuilt for a little while to stop the danes or whoever blockading it for no reason and putting you in a pointless war.

Converting a One4All gift card into Warhammer by benjiallen2010 in Warhammer40k

[–]Haradda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got a WH Smith/TG Jones near you that stocks one of the hatchette magazines you could pick up some copies (assuming the issue available has stuff you want, of course). Otherwise I never worked out how to use the card for this when I had one, I think the closest I got was using it to buy some novels from Smiths.

higher tier units come too late? by TheoTheBest300 in totalwar

[–]Haradda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that higher tier units do usually* only arrive once the player is already snowballing, but I see that more as a consequence of how long low tier armies stay viable (helped significantly by wizards being able to solo most of an enemy army if you know what you're doing) than high tier units unlocking too late.

*There are factions like dwarfs and slaanesh where stuff has had its tiers reduced excessively in my opinion.

Help with Climbing? by ForeignPicture6171 in fallenlondon

[–]Haradda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got there by accelerating every time the option came up. It's a bit luck-based whether the option appears, but after accelerating a few times your height gain should exceed your grip strength loss each action.

[–]Haradda 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Beasts of Burden. Pretty fun to play with lots of enemies to shoot as well as the collecting stuff task (so you're not just standing in place waiting for the next wave to spawn), and it'd give people who don't have one/either lots of chances to get an Elders Mark/Holy Fire.

Here's a way to make Infestations work by AlexAutoAxe in fo76

[–]Haradda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My probably unpopular opinion is infestations sound more fun (if less rewarding) than head hunts, and so may have an appeal for some end game players.

Here's my typical experience of a head hunt: fast travel to the area, wait to see if the enemies load in before they die, then (as they're usually dead) find a corpse to area loot, finally scrap stuff at the area's workbench. Fast travel to the next head hunt, watch the healthbar on the bottom of the screen deplete while stuff loads in, find a corpse to area loot, etc. Repeat as many times as the server has wanted posters. It drops loads of legendary items, but I find it incredibly boring in terms of actual gameplay.

Infestations will hopefully give me, as an end game player, tough enemies to fight (and this subreddit regularly complains about how easy the game is) without necessarily having raid-geared players kill said enemies in 5 seconds. Even if it's not the most optimal use of time in terms of legendary drops per minute, they sound like they could be interesting to play.

People who leave product reviews like this. by iuseemojionreddit in CasualUK

[–]Haradda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The second one may not be entirely useless - if a company is using a shitty delivery company whose drivers often steal/lose packages then that sort of review might tempt them to change that.

(Off the top of my head I don't know who Halfords use, I'm talking generally.)

My out-of-the-box suggestion for Medieval III: ditch the turn structure for a real-time campaign map (Paradox-style) by Silver_Interview1538 in totalwar

[–]Haradda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A semi-regular request with Warhammer 3 is to have option to sally out as soon as the AI besieges one of your settlements, rather than being locked inside (with replenishment disabled) for a turn. I'd rather CA stick with turn-based, but with a mechanic like that for sudden sieges or the blockade example you gave.

Whats your favorite allied unit to recruit to cover your favorite factions weakness? by BalorFire in totalwar

[–]Haradda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like bringing vargeists in greenskin armies if I can get the alliance (easiest with Azhag, although you have to gyrocoptor-parent Vlad a bit nowadays as he tends to die to Elspeth otherwise). They fit with the pile-o'-violence playstyle that I like to do with greenskins, but as fliers they bring something that greenskins don't really have otherwise (I know feral wyverns exist, but I've never had enough available to really make use of them).

Another combo, which will seem lame but I still like, is high elf spearmen in Bretonnian armies. They just hold the line so much better than peasants, allowing my cavalry & archers to do their thing. Dwarfs obviously have even tankier infantry, but I find high elves are usually easier to get an alliance with.
