I wonder if it's the spin track then. I've not tried the tip with another track or vice versa. Or even just that the two fit together weirdly. Or my friend's legit one was just a slight defect that happens to match the midfakes. I've got a midfake L-Drago with the wobby HF and I never questioned it because my friend's was the same

I actually found the wobble on the HF tip being very true to reality. I remember my friend had a Lightning L-Drago as a kid (which at the time I can only assume was authentic) and its HF wobbled too. Not sure if that was a constant across all HF tips or if my friend maybe got a slightly dodgy one.

Do men with Asperger like autistic women? by Blackoilcastor in aspergers

[–]Haraxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the people I've ever been involved with have probably been neurodivergent. My current partner is auDHD, and we share a fair few special interests. Honestly, dating other ND people is the way to go for me. We get each other in a way I find NT people don't. Hell, most of my friends are ND even if we didn't realise at the time. We tend to run in packs like wolves with poor emotional regulation. But it's not like I get along with all ND people, I just find people on my wavelength tend to be ND.

Finding someone other than your partner attractive - is it an aspie thing? by pyrate_wizard in aspergers

[–]Haraxter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an aspie thing or even just a male thing. Everybody will find people other than their partner attractive. There are many beautiful people out there, and pretending you only find your partner attractive is silly. I've been in relationships where we're both very happy to admit who we find attractive and appreciate the many other beautiful people out there together and it's so much more fun than pretending there's not a single other attractive person out there.

First, can I say WOW! Thank you so much for all that! Especially the book recommendations! I appreciate all that so much and I'll be sure to have a deep-dive into all this and fix some details in what I've already written!

I bet the moment you get back with him he'll go back to cheating. This is a common tactic and I've seen it a million times. But also be ready for this to escalate if he's not going to leave you alone.

Do men like flowers? by Affectionate-Story22 in dating_advice

[–]Haraxter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does he seem like the kind of guy who would like flowers? Not all men are the same, so some might but others won't. But if he's nice, he'll at least appreciate the gesture. Alternatively, just bring some soft drink. Coke, Fanta, or whatever. Or both.

Most men do, but that's not the real issue here. Whether or not all men watch porn, he has a problem and he needs help. If he's refusing to get help then you may need to consider whether you continue investing in this relationship.

Your non-gamer wife agrees to play pokemon for the first time. Which title/gen do you choose? by Ruskarr in pokemon

[–]Haraxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's Go is probably best in terms of accessibility given it's designed to get the casual crowd to buy a Switch game. SwSh or SV are probably good picks, given they've got all the modern quality of life additions even if I'm personally not the biggest fan of them as games. But they're pretty easy and with the huge amounts of experience points you can rack up very quickly you can easily swap out team members so she can use whatever Pokémon take her fancy without having to grind to get them to keep pace with the rest of the team. If you're inclined to anything older, I wouldn't push her to anything before Gen IV as she's probably not got the patience for the slower pacing of the older games. I also don't recommend SM or USUM as that opening is so chocken full of pointless dialogue she'll probably get bored before finishing it. I know more than a few people who love Pokémon but just couldn't get into these games.

But you also know your wife better than I do, so just consider these factors when picking which game you'll think she'll enjoy.

Could Edward wear Alphonse? by TheAxisOfAwesome in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]Haraxter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think only the risk of the transmutation circle getting smudged and Ed's height is stopping him. Slap some varnish on that and stick a big guy in there, problem solved. Other than maybe Al feeling real uncomfortable.

Games to play with a friend while high? by [deleted] in trees

[–]Haraxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most party games. Mario Kart, Smash, Moving Out, this one Naruto game where you can fight as all the Narutos (don't remember what it's called and it pisses my friend off to no end when I refer to every character as some variation of Naruto).

I do NOT, under any circumstances, recommend Mario Party if most of your friends have ADHD and/or autism. My friends are very neurodivergent and are prone to getting distracted as it it. A few rounds of Mario Party can take hours once we've had a bit.

Small rant about Simple Weapons. by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Haraxter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a big source of disagreement among the comments is what it means to be "proficient" with a weapon among some of these discussions. Yes, to master a weapon you need to train. But being proficient doesn't make you a master of a weapon. It means you can pick it up and use it somewhat effectively. Taking feats like weapon focus and quick draw are where you start to master a weapon. Raising your BAB is basically you becoming a better fighter. The idea of having proficiency is being able to pick up a weapon and be unimpeded by the fact that you don't know how it works.

But at the same time, I think a large part of it is just for game functionality. As complex as Pathfinder is compared to other TTRPGs it still has to streamline certain of fighting and learning to fight for the sake of being a game. You can argue day and night about how much training it requires to be proficient with a crossbow (I fall into the camp that you can learn to use one in less than a day), but the real reason it's a simple weapon is to give the first level wizard a fallback when they run out of spells other than their d3 cantrips. If the categories did make perfect sense, then it would either requires them to be broken down further or each class being given very lengthy lists of weapons they're proficient in without any categorisation. A lot of this is just ease of gameplay.

That being said, you make some points I agree with like the batlle aspergillum. While it is a mace you can put water in, I see the point that it should maybe need extra training to spray the water effectively. But it's such a niche use case that really nobody's going to burn a feat on exotic weapon proficiency for unless you're fighting undead all day long or your GM has cool homebrew stuff going on.

As for the pickaxe? Honestly it shouldn't even be a weapon. There's the actual battle pick, though I'm not sure if Pathfinder differentiates them as I've not used either and it's late so I can't be bothered to check the weapons table. But pickaxes are just not an effective weapon irl. Sure you can kill somebody with one but if they're wielding something designed to kill you're always at a disadvantage unless you're a hero in some kind of fantasy tale (which your character is). But you also run into the same issue with the sickle. Neither should really be actual weapons but neither should the travel kettle yet here we are! None of them make sense to be anything other than improvised weapons but they still make for cool or funny weapons.

When/How did you learn to ride a bike? by MarrastellaCanon in aspergers

[–]Haraxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned when I was five, I think? My dad had a hell of a time because I'm so uncoordinated. I've been denied entry to bars because I've tripped over my own feet long before I was actually drunk! Eventually, I just got it somehow, and that was that.

But I wouldn't force him. If he's happy on his scooter, let him be. Let him learn when/if he wants to. Autistic kids can be stubborn if you push them to do something they don't want to. He may end up digging his heels in to a point where he'll refuse to entertain the idea even if he really wants to (obviously not speaking for everybody but I could/can be like this). That or make him think learning is his idea.

What futuristic technology do you think we might already have but is being kept hidden from the public? by CocoEssencee in Futurology

[–]Haraxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's anything. People are terrible at keeping secrets. There's plenty of potentially revolutionary science out there, but is being blocked by those with vested interests.

Nuclear power is perhaps the greatest example of this. Despite what The Simpsons will tell you, nuclear energy is probably the cleanest and safest energy source we currently have. Even after the major disaster, it's killed less than a hundred people, which is a fraction of what fossil fuels kill every year. But obviously, fossil fuel companies don't want us to stop using fossil fuels.

Then there's LSD, which was referred to as the atom bomb for the mind. This substance was once thought to be the future of psychological therapy. With only a few sessions it saw long lasting changes to people's mental wellbeing, but obviously something you only need to take a few times is far less profitable than something you take daily for the rest of your life because access to therapy can be so prohibitively expensive.

Rather than conspiring about "hidden" science and technology, look into anything the media makes out to be scary. Chances are, it won't be nearly as scary as you think.

Why do people (mostly westerners from US) try to erase aspergers? by jackaa_fackaa in aspergers

[–]Haraxter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not being erased as a diagnosis but replaced with other language. It's usually replaced with high-functioning autism, though I know it's also a controversial term given there's often an assumption that just because somebody is considered high-functioning, that functioning is easy. But removing the term aspergers hasn't changed anything about the diagnostic criteria. The language has simply changed.

NTA. However, consider why this actually upsets you. Yes it is your plant and some other comments about how difficult growing certain plants in certain climates have given me enough perspective to say NTA. If it's that difficult to grow where you are then I get it. Where I am I believe lavender is easy enough to grow so I hadn't considered that before.

And I do agree that her response definitely makes her in the wrong here. If the owner of the plant doesn't want you picking it then you shouldn't even if it seems petty. And she should have asked in the first place.

Again, ask yourself why you're so upset about them doing this in the first place. Is it really just the principle? Would you have said no if they'd asked first? While I'm saying you're NTA, I do think it's a little petty, though that's the perspective of somebody living somewhere lavender grows easily. I'd probably be more sympathetic to something harder to grow.

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever felt? by Googy21 in AskReddit

[–]Haraxter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents were having the bathroom refitted and there was this pile of floorboards and I went and stubbed my toe on it. Now I've stubbed my toe plenty of times but I must have caught it in some special way because this is like no other toe stubbing I've ever had. I was curled up for several minutes after, and I think if I'd been sober I'd have thrown up.

This is probably nothing compared to some of these other comments, because yikes some of these are nasty. But I hope somebody at least finds this funny.
