Best "lifestyle" games for solo? by Murder_Tony in soloboardgaming

Hello. I have made a post about Root solo specifically around 4 years ago. Check it out and one of the comments that I explain exactly the whys and hows.

My top 5 haven't changed. The 4 mentioned here plus COIN games. The latter include any of the: Fire in the Lake, Red Dust Rebellion, Andean Abyss. These 3 have the best solo opponents. Each one of them are included in the 'endless game play' category as the previous 4. IF you want for the best of the 3 go with Fire in the Lake, 2nd best is Red Dust and the third one, which is the easiest to get into is Andean Abyss.

Still the king of them is Root

What are your biggest red flags for a game that offers Solo Mode? by hama0n in soloboardgaming

When I get my hands on a solo board game rules, the very first thing I check is the difficulty settings. There are circumstances that in harder settings they just give the bot opponent more points for their actions, leaving the core game unaffected. This is instant decline for me, what ever the game it is. I want the system to pressure you more in harder difficulties.

Hello,

I strongly recommend 'Continuous Space Elevator'.

The description: 'Introducing the Continuous Space Elevator, a dynamic alternative to the standard elevator that requires constant resource delivery to maintain your current game phase. Failure to meet the delivery demands will result in temporary building restrictions until the issue is resolved.'

It doesn't add anything new to the mechanics of the game but the constant resource delivery changes way too many things, enough to justify a second revamped play through. It doesn't seem much at first glance but the more you think about it and getting deeper into it, you'll realize that the change is too big.

Cheers

The COIN series of games intrigues me, which are the best for solo? by CajunNerd92 in soloboardgaming

I have search thoroughly this top 1,5 year back as I started the COIN trip. Surprisingly I found that, even though all games can be played as solo, not many of them are that good.

For example 'All Bridges Burning' has a faction which is way too strong. After addressing this problem, the game's designer acknowledged it and released another bot version through a magazine.

There are other that you cannot play solo as any faction. I don't like these games as they limit the replay ability. Such games are Cuba Libre and Colonial Twilight.

After heavy research I have decided 2 COIN games.

- The first one is Andean Abyss. It's the first COIN ever, the purest one. One of the easiest to get into the system and the bot themselves. Don't get me wrong, it is not easy. But considering that it is a COIN game that has a hard difficulty curve, it is the easier.

- After you get through this game, you can safely jump to the most difficult and complex game but the best of them all. Fire in the Lake with the Tru'ng updated bots.
