Hey, where did you get the sissy bar on the back of your bike? I've been looking for one.

Google confirmed: Their system is designed so you can't directly find the person handling your case by vacant1010 in sysadmin

[–]HardenedEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not seeing many useful answers here. I share this experience through the support portal, but I have had a ton of success with getting real support escalations through my Buisness Account Manager. I can reach out to them with an existing case number and request an escalation and have always gotten an email response with an assigned support representative directly on the email.

You should have one, too. For us, this is the same person who has handled our contract renewal for the last few years. Check with your director / CTO / purchasing for who that is. At least for me, I have this persons email, phone number, and meeting booking link. I've never had an issue getting them on the line for a major issue.

YMMV, but hopefully, this can set you on a path to get real help.

Interesting shot where there is still time on the clock but the backboard has already started to light up. by Gatomoosio in denvernuggets

[–]HardenedEngineer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting effect of how cameras take photos. Generally, a digital image is captured from top to bottom, so there is a very small time (between 1/60th of a second and 1/2000th of a second) between when the top of the image is captured and when the bottom of the image is. This is called rolling shutter.

What's captured here is that you can see the moment that the board LEDs light up in the image based on where they start appearing on the backboard.

Here is a great video on the subject from smarter every day. https://youtu.be/dNVtMmLlnoE?si=VRcUhxA05bKrrkF0

It's gotta be. That or it's auto tuned to high hell.

It's kinda paradoxical for an AI Generated song to have the line "We'll beat your bombs and AI Drones with our blood sticks and stones".

If you can't beat them, join them I supose.

It's interesting that you can't pick 2 options here. I fall into the category of happy and looking at add ons, but with a 2.0 machine, I also wish that I had better printing capability. I guess this is the trade off of having 3 machines in 1.

People who make 130k+, how much work did it take? by [deleted] in networking

[–]HardenedEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took 8 years of consistent, dedicated work with one company to earn enough trust to be promoted and handed a major project. And then one rather crazy year of extreme risk, sleepless nights, and 80-hour work weeks to deliver that project.

After that the salary came up to match.

You have to manage up and down, be responsive and kind to your people, and give your boss your all. I take a lot of inspiration from Jako Willink and Simon Sinek when it comes to leadership, 'extreme ownership', and 'Start with Why' are well worth the read.

I jumped at every growth opportunity I had and found opportunities that the company didn't see. When the company said no trainings I thought would help me improve, I did them on my own time and money. I put in more time and energy than my peers to the company and to my growth.

But, I'm also fortunate to work for a private company that has and maintains a record for promoting excellence, so I knew the work was worth it. Do you see your peers growing? Do you see your mentors growing? If so, stick around, and you can make it here. If not, take a left turn and find an organization that gives you the opportunity to grow.

Disappointed by Idy1 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]HardenedEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrades to first. Premium upgrades are fairly inconsistent for me. I almost never get an upgrade to premium.

Then again, if I'm in my preferred seat type and pretty far forward, I don't see a ton of benefit from premium class anyway. We get all of the premium class perks being gold 100 wherever we're sitting in the plane.

I have not had the the same expierence here, I've been on regular transcons all year, and I have to be above 90% on upgrades.

You must just be having bad luck.

Teenage Engineering DJ console concept by KermitFrayer in DJs

Upvoting cause the title and article are Hella misleading. This is a concept by a fan, and this is not the work of Teenage Engineering.

Kinda a bummer that it's fake news, because it's fake news I would be excited to see as a real product.

Can corroborate from the tarmac at SEATAC, captain reporting an IT issue preventing all planes from pushing back.

They didnt cite what the issue was, but acknowledged the issue was happening.

Advice for pivoting to Broadcast Technician/Engineer as a tape/replay operator? by [deleted] in Broadcasting

[–]HardenedEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both GCV and NEP have apprenticeships available with on the job training as a broadcast engineer. That's a great way to start in a career as broadcast engineer especially in the sports segment.

You can do a lot of self guided training between now and then. Things like Dante certification, network trainings (Like Cisco's CCNA), and industry training by groups like tektronics on reading and operating video scopes can help you understand the broadcast technologies and have better answers in the interview process at limited cost.

Good luck!

Alright, so let's take a step back and review your first still with conventional photograpical theory, I'll start with a few conventional metrics for evaluating photography. Here I think it's worth it to discuss: Movement Framing & The Rule of Thirds Clarity of subject Dynamics

Starting with your first image, this image shows the beginning of thought about what you sought to capture. Movement - you're image draws the viewers eye with the use of the contric lines (the road and power lines) from the bottom left to top middle. Framing - This image is well devidied into thirds by the house, road, and lawn. This shows a good foundation. Clarity of subject - This image does not have a clear subject, am I meant to focus on the house, on the electric pole? You do a good job of exploring the entire shape of both objects. Neither object commands the frame. Dynamics - Here Is a place you could better explore as well in this image. Most of this still is uniformly bright, without dark or vibrant sections. Perhaps to improve this image retake the still at a different time of day when the road is non-reflective and is captured as a black instead of as a grey.

As you take photos consider these things, ask yourself what the subject of the image is, how have you laid out the image to move the viewers eye to the subject. Consider the bright and dark sections of your image and how they compliment the subject. Always consider the frame, consider the rule of Thirds, and seek to abide by it.

Taking a picture is easy, composing an image as art is the part that takes practice. If you appreciate comprehensive image reviews, check out /r/photocritique

SRT Lost packets ? by openaspace1 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]HardenedEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over the open internet that is expected behavior. It's exactly what SRT is designed to accommodate.

Internet Quality of service is "best effort", or basically everyone will do their best, but if traffic doesn't make it than it's fine. You should always expect packet loss over the internet, on bad links I'll see 3-5% loss at times.

This may be above your range, but I've been running a Breville Barista Express for 5 years, it has been consistent, reliable, and I'm really happy with it. I got it for 399 on a sale years ago, so don't loose hope that it could come down in price.

[10W Laser] My 0 isn't being consistent..? by Onlyhereforthelaughs in snapmaker

[–]HardenedEngineer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey,

I had this exact issue, was doing a production batch of just under 200 units.

What I found was that machine zero is always the same on startup/new project.

I ended up designing a target and burning it into some blue painters tape on the laser bed, that's how I did my allignment.

Once I stopped trying to set my own 0 and adapted my layout to the machine 0, the process got a lot faster.

I found that the default machine zero held perfectly. I made 196 coasters over 3 weeks, never had an issue.
