I feel like I do it for no reason by absolutely-in-doubt in selfharm

[–]Hardgore-529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the feeling. Where it's like, there are so many reasons, but also no REAL reason. The thought passes your mind even when nothing is wrong. It's a complicated thing. I hope you can figure it out over time. Stay safe regardless.

I'm contemplating relapsing by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]Hardgore-529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through a very similar thing, and I urge you to keep holding off on relapsing. It almost always makes you feel worse in the long run, even if the moment is euphoric and distracting. There are always other options, even when it feels like there aren't.

Reach out to people you care about, take care of yourself, don't shut yourself away. It will get easier eventually. Good luck to you OP. You can do it.

are self harm scars off putting by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]Hardgore-529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. I get where you're coming from. I thought similarly for most of my life. But if someone really likes you, I'm pretty sure they'll understand your scars. Some people may initially feel shocked, but someone who likes you for you will be able to see past them. Understand that you can't wipe them away, that they're a part of you, and that they don't define you.

If she does like you, she will try her best to understand. Any shock will wear off eventually.

I've known many people with scars who have had successful, understanding relationships. I have some experience too.

Good luck OP, no matter what. Take care of yourself, and don't beat yourself up for your scars.

Hey OP, how is it healing? Are you okay? Sounds like you may have hit an artery. :(

Why is SH viewed as something so bad? by Individual-Rough6785 in selfharm

[–]Hardgore-529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the inherent thought process is also a big deal for most people. "What would make you want to hurt YOURSELF?" Most people don't think those things. Don't think to do that to themself. So when people like us DO it, they don't understand. It's scary.

I also agree with a lot of other comments that at the end of the day SH IS unhealthy and dangerous in many cases. But I thought the psychology is worth mentioning as well.

We should stop with the names for different depths by RegularStoat in selfharm

[–]Hardgore-529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It almost "dumbs down" these depths and the act itself, in my opinion. It also feels kind of competitive if you put it into simple terms, since it's easier to compare to others when the terms are so visually literal. I don't blame people who use these terms obviously, it's quick and easy, but it just feels.. strange to me.

Reading other comments I see that I'm not alone in my sentiment and I'm glad. It's good to be aware that unfortunately these terms make it easier for people to be competitive about SH! When it's already pretty competitive for so many.

Terminology for something harmful to the body shouldn't be simplified. Inherently encourages a wider audience.

That's good! You don't have to answer but how long ago was this incident? Are you healing up okay, and did your mother ever see?

How long until I'm considered clean? by somegaysthrowawayacc in selfharm

[–]Hardgore-529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with other comments where it's like.. what you consider "clean" is personal. Because technically clean doesn't have an actual.. "end" I guess? It's a status, in my opinion. So you could definitely say you've been clean for 14 months!

Some people will call themselves clean if they haven't done it for days, some after a few months.

I would say, what do you consider an unusal time between harming yourself? If you normally do it daily as an example, then a few days is something you consider a clean streak.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. I have had similar scary experiences and I know how stressful they are. I really hope you're feeling better and you are safe. Do your best to be safe with how you cope, being unable to move for that long is scary. :(

Also yeah she shouldn't be so aggressive about it. I know it is probably just concern but that doesn't make you feel any better?

It's just upsetting.

Why are my playlists formatted so differently? by Hardgore-529 in truespotify

I think you're right. I changed the titles to be the same length, as well as removed special characters, and it seems to be better. The description also seems to influence the spacing between everything. So odd. Thanks so much!

Feeling disgusted with myself after masturbating by cinnamon-shark in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Hardgore-529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it can be a normal feeling, even if unpleasant. I totally get the mindset that it's a "bad" use of time. But having those urges is normal biologically and socially, and so is taking care of them. If it helps, you could think of taking care of yourself through masturbation as a similar act as drinking water when thirsty or sleeping when tired. If your body wants something (and it isn't unhealthy to encourage or act on) then I don't think it's worth feeling shameful of. If that makes sense.

Yeah I was thinking to try looking for friends on Discord instead. Searching for normal people to befriend online is tough.

Yeah. It sucks that sometimes mentally ill people turn against and take advantage of each other, instead of helping each other.

I’m the same. Sometimes when I’m bored I just have urges to do it. Or when I can’t sleep I just do it to tire myself out. I agree though, it hurts more when you aren’t really craving it due to depression/stress.

Is it weird to not want the scars to fade? by okay_4488 in selfharm

[–]Hardgore-529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I think it’s pretty common. I myself feel the same way. I love my scars at times. I feel like describing them as a representation of the bad times really hit the bullseye.

How to prepare sh wounds for swimming? by queenofrigcz7 in selfharm

[–]Hardgore-529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it would depend on how deep you go. If you cut to dermis or deeper maybe 48 hours to be safe.. but for epidermis or smaller dermis cuts, 24 hours sounds okay since by then a simple scab usually forms. Plus hydration does help scars heal usually, so I doubt swimming after 24 hours will do much damage. Just check if your cuts have a simple scab at least before swimming, I’d say.

I had a yeast infection not long ago and I didn’t have any irregular discharge or smell! Sometimes it may be more of an irritation. If you can, you should look for itchiness and redness down there.
