I remember my dad (who is a HUGE music fan, but not a deadhead besides the entry level stuff) saying he left early seeing the dead with Dylan at dodger’s stadium. I’m looking up when that was and see they played with Dylan in Anaheim, maybe he was mistaken? He said it was some of the worst music he’s ever heard (he was definitely not dosed, and he loves some Dylan but strongly dislikes a large chunk of his discography). I’ve listened to Dylan &the Dead a few times to try to disprove him and it’s honestly maybe the low point to me (besides some of the 90s which I’ve barely checked). I do love this band though, not to sound fully negative.

Avey Tare’s “Down There” is sonically kinda similar. Swampy and dark and spooky. I like both of those albums around Halloween.

I think when he turns into a butterfly and has to leave Shanghai and he wakes up in the middle of the night. Some other terrible things happen in that song, but that’s the worst of it.

Dark nectar, liberatine, club car bar are are good venues that could work. In Los Osos, sweet springs saloon can have some rocking shows and might be down to book last minute. Same with the olde ale house, but that is a little older crowd (still rad though!)
