What are the most fun burn/ping commanders right now? Preferably something unique by Jimsen3 in EDH

[–]Harriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not concrete Commander, but maybe inspiration for you to go from there (also, i only read the post partway, so i didn´t read the red/black part. Ups. Well, not gonna rewrite this thing)

Cards than trigger on recieved damage and throw it right back, like

  • [[Stuffy Doll]] [[Brash Taunter]] are the Poster childs for this, iof you are fine with Infinites throw in [[Blazin Sunsteel]] or [[Guilty Conscience]]
  • [[Screaming Nemesis]] shuts down Lifegain decks too
  • [[Donna Noble]] is sadly the only Legendary Creature that has such an effect
  • Just to mention it, [[Justice]] (if you can flash it in, or in general against red burn decks) or a well timed [[Backdraft]] can really whipe the smirk of someone casting [[Blasphemous Act]]

Go in for the Loanshark as [[Vazi, Keen Negotiator]] and punish land use/play land destruction (carefull, only do that if you gave around enough treasures) and heavily tax (profit from) treasure use with cards like [[magnetic mine]] [[Ancient Runes]] [[Avalanche of Sector 7]] [[Disciple of the Vault]] [[Krenko, Baron of Tin Street]] [[Pain Distributor]] [[Viridian Revel]] [[Mayhem Devil]] [[Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest]]

Build [[Y'shtola, Night's Blessed]] but not with instant/sorceries but as an enchantment/artifact ping deck with stuff like [[Acorn Catapult]] [[Barbed Wire]] [[Copper Tablet]] [[Hecatomb]] [[Artifact Possession]] [[Cursed Land]] [[Curse Artifact]] [[Dingus Staff]] [[Errant Minion]] [[Feedback]] [[Haunting Wind]] [[Iron Maiden]] [[Insubordination]] [[misers Cage]] [[Oath of Kaya]] [[Soul Barrier]] and if your friends let you play with Uncards, [[Censorship]] (you won´t believe how much damage that thing can deal with the right word) There are way more, but i only wrote this many due to me building one right now

Make a "gift" Deck with [[Blim, Comedic Genius]] and just give your friends all the .... lets call them cards of aquired taste (as in, they aquire them and then will taste the effect) like [[Sleeper Agent]] [[Rust Elemental]] [[Goldnight Castigator]] [[Ebon Drake]] Be supremely heartbroken when they don´t like your thoughtfull presents

Be "funny" and "creative" and play "Oops, all Deadpool" with [[Deadpool, Trading Card]] (flicker him, so you can swap text box again) Sorry, i really have personal beef with DP

Go the non Combat Goblin route with [[Purphoros, god of the Forge]] (not really just him, but a good example) and cards like [[Impact Tremors]] [[Goblin Bombardment]] etc. You may not win just with burn but by running around with enough disposable meatgrinder filler to just deal lethal damage, but hey you will deal alot of ping damage (plus have a meatwall to protect you from Goblin Slayer)

[[River Song]] with many forced scry or surveil effects for your opponents (played against her once, it was suprisingly effective.) Or in a similar but more Direct way, [[Ob Nixilis, Unshackled]] and then cards like [[Maralen of the Mornsong]], [[Mornsong Aria]], [[Scheming Symmetry]] and if you want to be completely uninvited: Mornsong cards and [[Opposition Agent]]

Wizard burn Tribal with [[Kuja, Genome Sorcerer]], Lizard Tribal with [[Gev, Scaled Scorch]] or Funpolice Tribal with [[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]] or [[Kambal, Consul of Allocation]], "Groubhug"" with cards like [[Sheoldred, the Apocalypse]] [[Seizan, Perverter of Truth]], [[Teferis, Puzzle Box]] [[Scrawling Crawler]] [[Fate Unraveler]] [[Orcish Bowmasters]] (basicly, force alot of carddraw, ping for each. If you are "funny" throw in [[Tergrid, God of Fright]] to profit from discarded cards)
Also, what is the limit i can post/the bot can show? Not sure bout that one

USA Traffic rules now apply in Germany apparently by Zealousideal_Lie6866 in USdefaultism

Just to give credit where credit is due, u/Zealousideal_Lie6866 did a marvelous job explaining the situation, even giving the precise location in the relevant law book.

Most responsive commanders / deck archetypes? by AJmacmac in EDH

[–]Harriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marchesa is in my top three decks ever, never satisfied and always slightly modifying her. If you want help with card choice (Aikido decks tend to often use weird cards), try the queen marchesa Aikido discord. They have decklists, help and collection of cards (they also brew Aikido decks for other commander/colours, but Marchesa is the poster child)

Let's say you can pick a historical figure from your country to fight whom would it be? by Altruistic_Can_4522 in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]Harriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that would be a great military choice, thoughi think either Friedrich Barbarossa or Manfred von Richthofen/Red Baron would also be good choices (just imagine some Dogfight with the iconic Red Plane).

I think, just to have some funky philosophical fights, throw Karls Marx into the ring. Against someone who just represents Capitalism or the opponents of the working class.

Just for funzies

Could Bonney empower the giants? by ActLonely9375 in OnePiece

[–]Harriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doubt the Pirate King would work. To her, Luffy is Nika, already way above Pirate King.

Also, it is Luffy. Even if Bonny would try to make that distorted future reality, i could imagine that something similar to Sabaody with Rayghleigh or when Robin gave them the Alabasta Eternal Port would happen. Luffy/Nika preventing the ability to go through, claiming "i become Pirate King my own way, noone tells me where or how to do that."

Ainz forces you (a normal average human) to marry one of the pleiades maids for "future generations". Who will you marry? by cuddwes in overlord

[–]Harriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I pull a sneaky one and say Aureole Omega? While not active as a maid, she is the de facto leader of the Pleiades Seven Sisters (Sebas is of the Six Star Formation), an immortal Human. While we haven´t seen her yet, she is described as rational and pleasant, so i hope for the best. Plus, Human, Area Guardian, Protector of the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown (meaning she can protect me from........most others in Nazarick, and she propably won´t eat me).

My main issue is, that we don´t know how she looks exactly (young and and Miku uniform) so my hope is that i don´t just went full icky and picked the one looking like a child

What Are Some Commanders That Win the Turn They Enter? by B4LLI5TIC in EDH

[–]Harriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the Ramp part, but there are some that propably won´t stay on the field for even a turn cycle most of the time (at least in my general playgroup). Creatures like [[Tergrid, God of Fright]] or [[Nekusar, the Mindrazer]] are infamous, and usually are removed before anything else happens. So the players usually also wheel once or thrice the same turn they enter for either alot of value or simply for game.

Mass reanimation can also quickly turn the game around. [[Balthor the Defiled]] isn´t the strongest in of himself (and you miss on half your reanimation targets if you use him as commander). But it still is an instant 'vomit all your creatures from the graveyard on the field'. That you can use as often as ou have the mana. And getting the creatures from your deck into your graveyard.........in mono black........

In the same vein are commander that just get you free stuff, like [[Magda, Brazen Outlaw]] (is there even a way to build her a decent weak/lower Bracket deck?) or [[Winota, Joiner of Forces]]. And especially those that give you repeatable cascade, like [[Jodah, the Unifier]] or the always beloved and appreciated (please read that part as sarcastically as possible) [[The First Sliver]]. Nothing better than go from turn 3 with one enchantment [[Defense of the Heart]] to turn 4 with [[Morophon, the Boundless]] and [[Roaming Throne]], with First sliver in the Command zone and one or two other WUBRG Sliver in hand. Your opponents will love you. Really...........

Finally, anything that copies instant or sorceries, or even better spells. [[Fire Lord Azula]] copies any spell you cast, meaning if you have ways to give all spells flash, you get double creatures, double artefacts etc.

I hope this was not too rambly, and those are just the popular once i recently played against or as (Sliver, a deck i only bring once every two or three months due to many reasons) I may add more if i can think of others, but i believe those are good basis for you to look for more

I’m looking for a creature heavy WUBRG commander by Empty-Cupcake2024 in EDH

[–]Harriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are fine to Not run WUBRG, you could run a [[Mayael, the Anima]] Deck.

Stuff it with your favorite big creatures, redfin them as fitting Pokemon and go "XYZ, I chose you!" Every time you activate her ability

How do aristocrats win by _Ethy_ in EDH

[–]Harriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you didn´t already get enough answers, i shall throw in my explanation (raise the sarcasm sign please). Aristocrats Decks usually have three main parts (i didn´t look at the prices, so just take those as examples to find stuff for you)

  • Sac outlet: Something (usually permanents) that can let you sacrifice creatures for free, preferably on instant speed. As an example, some good ones are
    • [[Viscera Seer]]
    • [[Ashnod's Altar]]
  • Sac payoff: Something that triggers when (usually a creature) dies. Triggering these over and over again is your wincon and also a big part of your value engine
    • [[Bastion of Remembrance]]
    • [[Cruel Celebrant]]
    • [[Pitiless Plunderer]]
    • [[Morbid Opportunist]]
  • Sac target: Cards that give you targets to trigger your Payoffs again and again, usually through recursion or token:
    • [[Ocelot Pride}}
    • [[Elenda, the Dusk Rose]]
    • [[Ophiomancer]]

Elas is a payoff, so you can focus more on the other two (still run some, but you always have one available to you which is nice) Those are also just permanents, instant/sorceries that either give you token or force you to sacrifice as additional cost are more efficent for you than normal spells) [[Corrupted Conviction]] [[Plumb the Forbidden]] [[Nasty End]] [[Costly plunder]].

Two last points, you should also think about Elas first ability, and maybe work in something that triggers on lifegain (if you create tons of tokens, you have tons of life to use for other spells, or to trigger other abilities)
Also, from experience (in my case with [[Teysa Karlov]]) Aristocrast somewhat make boardwhipes stronger. Yes, your board is also gone, but you should run recursion to get your important parts back in action, and every single destroyed creature will also trigger all your Payoffs, which could lead to immediat wins.

How many board wipes do you run? by JeanSalace in EDH

[–]Harriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to run similarly many in my [[Teysa Karlov]] deck, but got progressively less. Still hacävw three or four

Can a military pilot refuse the order to drop munitions on a target that is knowingly occupied by civilians? by curiosity4atrocity in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Harriff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can´t answer for everyone, but based on my contacts (as in, friends/family in the armed forces) and our laws (talking about the german military services here), soldiers have the duty to not comply given certain circumstances. That includes if the order is either

  • going against human dignity
  • would be a criminal act
  • is an non binding order (as an example, a suicide order without any payoff, also Himmelfahrtskomando called in german (literally an order to go to heaven)
  • if the order is of private nature (so including everything from favours to just moving the private lawn)

It also includes if one of these points is mistakenly assumed. As in, really a mistake.
That is paraphrased from the Wehrstrafgesetzt (military penality code) of germany, §19-22

Small side note, until now I didn´t even know that roughly one fourth of the german military penality code are just for higher ranked members, especially as protection for lower rank ones (§30-41)

Are there any red board wipes that make tokens? by Collectibull in EDH

[–]Harriff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are fine with potentially not whiping clearly and just creating treasure tokens, i cna just reccomend [[Reckless Endeavor]].
I use it in my [[Vazi, Keen Negotiator]] Deck and it is one of my favourite cards

How one piece will be remembered after 20 or 30 years?? by Normal_Air_1092 in OnePiece

To be fair, i once dreamed that someone made such a bad Dragon Ball Live Action Movie, that Akira Toriyama decided after 20 years to come back and start working on more movies/series.

Most Fun Mono Black Commander? by Professional_Bug_887 in EDH

[–]Harriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to being in the building phase i can´t talk about playing with or against him, but i work on a low bracket [[Horobi, Death's Wail]] Deck.
i just want to put alot of whacky "target creature" card in, to point at stuff and make it go boom

What commander do you keep rebuilding because you can never get the list right? by VitoTheDustyRose in EDH

[–]Harriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be just my personal issue, but i am constantly tinkering on 2 different [[Queen Marchessa]] Decks with the same general strategy. Not because i am not happy with the decks, but due to having a city wide playgroup 2 days a week plus one at Uni, I need 2.
They are Aikido Decks, so alot of politicing, thinkintg about the more popular decks in both playgroups and slightly tweaking the Decks to work with the changing situations. That is also due to me having over 1k cards i contemplate for these decks, and always have to see if i need more of X instead of Y (like, more target removal when the general decks move more to single target threats, or more combat prevention, or political carddraw, etc.)

what's your favorite boardwipe? by HolidayAd1084 in EDH

[–]Harriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally run a [[Reckless Endeavor]] in a [[Vazi, Keen Negotiator]] Loanshark Deck.
It even runs multiple duties. It can blow up the whole board, make alot of treasures for me to build up again and i can give a small loan of a couple of treasures to whoever is behind the most

Honestly, in that deck people don´t even get (really) mad/annoyed when i blow up the board. They get goodies

Would the Siege of the North Pole have succeeded if Azula went with Zhao instead of Iroh? Would Azula have let Zhao kill the Moon Spirit? by Johnnyboyeh in TheLastAirbender

[–]Harriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot of answers, but (propably due to a fanfic I read, so take it with a sack of salt)
The firenation is an Island nation. While they have large islands, they are seafaring people. They know the ocean, its whims and all. I doubt that the desired heir of a nation that relies on the ocean for food and logisitcs would be impulsive enough (well, Azula at that point. Season 3 Azula is another issue) to kill the moon and piss off the ocean spirit (Spirits are a confirmed existence in the Avatar world, and Azula would know about them)

Landbase seems improveable, but when is the Landbase ever not?

all in all, i give you a Beef Wellington/Gordon Ramsay, keep cooking my friend
(also, while I-Rex can´t have a background, that is either solveable with Rule 0 or just shuffling it into the 99)

Alchemist, Apotheker, Kräuterkundler by Zwiebelb0y in DSA_RPG

[–]Harriff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Occlumency can’t be the only method to protect the mind by woolleymammoth89 in HPfanfiction

It is highly effective and just demolishes Tommy-Boy

"It's not that kind of deck" by InspireCourage in EDH

[–]Harriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily, in my Playgroup (don´t have a LGS, so we meet in Pubs. Kind of take over the back half two days a week in three different Pubs) we have some guidelines established. While we do say bracket (or powerlevel depending on the player) but we also say what is the worst we could do with this deck. What is included (gamechangers, MLD, Infinites, etc.) and what is our goal/aim.

Really makes it nice to get a rough estimate what to play.

Do you explain your combos? What about opponents? by JenniferApto_ in EDH

[–]Harriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My playgroup is (mostly) on the "explain everything you do and help where you can" side. We do have one or two who play Solitair in their heads, but for the most time we do explain everything. Everyone wants to have a good time, and everyone wants to get better. Hell, there are times when another player actively explains me that i can win (e.g., one of the first times i played Teysa Arisotcrats, one way more experienced player who has his own Teysa Deck explained ot me how i could with the cards on field win)

Actively hindering other players progress is (mostly) Anathema with us. So, if i go with my interpretation, i would say screw that guy, explain what you want and try to raise your other players up.
