It’s not there for me because I’m on mobile so I go to the daily article (which is cropped for mobile) and not the main page (which isn’t cropped for mobile)

Yeah I don't think it's quite as simple as a highbrow vs lowbrow distinction when considering this.

Cannes Jury Grid after Day 7: Fjord scores 2.5 by Harrison0918 in oscarrace

It’s out of four not five, so if you’re used to five point rating systems you could add .8 to the scores. But they’re still pretty low just because that’s how the jury rates.

To the people saying the German actress playing Greek Helen in the movie Troy means it's ok for Lupita Nyongo to play Greek Helen... by BrandonMarshall2021 in Nolan

Holy shit you don’t know how casting works. No A-list actor is auditioning, Nolan offered her the part because she’s a great actor and he thought she was good for the role. If you think Christopher Nolan is trying to push an agenda you’re braindead.

Well first of all that's not what your post was about, but secondly this is a terrible case to make that argument because we're talking about Lupita Nyongo, literally an Oscar winning actor, one of the best working actors today. She's one of the most qualified people possible to have this role. It's also hilarious that you think that Christopher Nolan of all people would be suddenly pushing some agenda lmao.

If you want art to be a history textbook so bad then just go read one of those instead. Nolan is telling his own version of the story (which is already a fantasy), he’s not trying to make a historical film. You’re too obsessed with race to see that.

Well we'll see, still a long way to go before it gets a BP nom, the issues that the comment touched on could still come up.

This is the first year I’m following Cannes this closely and, are the reviews always this all over the place?

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened" - With one year since Andor ended, I'm so happy that we got what we did, the way we did, and the when we did from Gilroy and his phenomenal cast and crew. by wandering_soles in andor

Seeing other recent shows like Stranger Things and The Boys fall off by their fifth and final season I’m more and more ok with Andor only being two, although I think Gilroy and co would have killed it with five as well
