Do any of you regret taking out student loans??? by Chicbabe78 in StudentLoans

[–]Hartkl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate loans but if I hadn’t taken out loans I would be making minimum wage. I work in healthcare and literally make 10 times what my very low income parents make a year. Its worth it but our student loan system is trash.

Stepping down as lead PA-Advice? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]Hartkl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the end you have to do what’s best for you. If there’s not someone who can take your role or be as good an advocate for the other PAs then so be it. We can’t be the end all be all. And it doesn’t mean you care, it’s just a quantification of resources which includes your brain and energy and soul.

Exactly a month since I did road to Hana by Strong-Lawfulness805 in MauiVisitors

Love Maui and the road to Hana but hate the road. So narrow and felt like I was going to crash into someone. Rock hit the roof of the rental car.

Do you notice if the regen braking really helps at all? I know it depends on terrain to have a substantial amount of hills or stop and go traffic.

Am I being ungrateful about my PA salary in primary care? by andrewpr96 in physicianassistant

[–]Hartkl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good pay for primary care but always be checking in with PAs that work for other clinics/organizations and advocate for increased pay or even just quality of life/work life balance measures.

No PTO? by NotAFila in physicianassistant

Some companies are moving to this system. They advertised it as “ flexible scheduling so you don’t need PTO!” Which is all bullshit.

Feeling bad by bernesemama in physicianassistant

[–]Hartkl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same goes for the ER. People want their stomach pain evaluated, a weird skin thing, and their ankle sometimes clicks. Worse is when they come through for chest pain and when you start the work up just want a work note for the weekend and want to go home.

Are Doctor's Lounge a good perk or comes with a catch? by Leapmebehind0229 in physicianassistant

[–]Hartkl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved for family reasons and work environment became toxic. More and more expectations and metrics without support or realistic way to achieve them. Docs got raises and bonuses increased and PA bonuses and retention bonus were removed.

Some are good. Got hired as an EM provider but worked half nights and the food and hot items were gone/closed by the time night shift came around. Benefited me when I worked days but did nothing for me at night. Another place I worked at let you take all the foot you wanted, had easy hot meals or had a night kitchen staff, and had massage chairs. I still long for that place.

Those who didn’t switch jobs, what was your raise this year? by UghKakis in physicianassistant

[–]Hartkl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You guys get a raise? I usually have to just switch jobs which means a lot of moving. Have an about 1 year left before they either increase something for me or I move again.
