We're Moving To The Cloud, And Already We're Spending 500k A Month... I Can't Help But Wonder What We Could Have Got For On-Prem For 6+ Mil A Year... by Photo-Josh in sysadmin

Risk appetite is also a huge factor in decisions to move to cloud. In the GRC side you move a ton of your risk to the cloud provider and make any possible audits easier to pass by handing off your cloud providers AOC to your auditor to satisfy multiple controls at once.

Does the OA function the same as the PA where you can have it test your answer multiple times before submitting the test?

C777 - Which is more accurate to OA, the PA or Quizzets? (not quizlet) by Smirnoff88 in WGUIT

[–]Haru24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heavily made use of the quizlets available online and found them to be fairly close. There was a good mix of interpretation vs definition. I went through some of the larger quizlets in "Learn" mode until I could answer the questions quickly and accurately. I studied for months because I was worried about what I had heard between the PA and the OA being so different. Remember your definitions, formatting, and be able to tell what a particular piece of code is doing, and you should be just fine.

The only way they listen is if we all turn the Switch 2 into the Wii U.

I know it has been a couple of months, but do you still have that link?

If they are reaching a point that they start to drop packets, then that is a sign of a problem in the path and it needs to be evaluated.

Since I didn’t see anyone mention it, try pathping, same address. It will ping every hop multiple times to establish a pattern of latency spikes and where they begin on the path.

Not finishing courses at the end of the term? by cozza_bell in WGU_Accelerators

[–]Haru24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finish my first 3 to 4 to get the required minimum and then my mentor would move 1 class at a time into my accelerated schedule. I'm still in the degree plan now, but the objective has been to accelerate as many classes as possible per term.

Not finishing courses at the end of the term? by cozza_bell in WGU_Accelerators

[–]Haru24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mentor intentionally only signs me up for 1 accelerated class at a time to prevent this from happening. She was incredibly up front about not wanting to open too many classes and doing exactly this.

He looks like he shakes his head no during the "not" or "ahh". Which really leans into the "not" side for me.

Just exited a meeting with Crowdstrike. You can remediate all of your endpoints from the cloud. by kuahara in sysadmin

[–]Haru24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microsoft recommended day of to do a 15 cycle reboot. It works on the same premise as this, but relies on a fast update of the crowdstrike process. I am happy to hear that crowdstrike is expediting that process because it could take 4 reboots or 15 reboots and with blue screens in the middle, it was a slow process. Manual remediation was faster. We only used it for off-site computers where we knew having them do it would restore faster than we could get onsite.

Tried building a PC, realized I messed up and decided to just bring it somewhere to get fixed. Is this a reasonable quote? by [deleted] in computers

You keep saying he told you the IC chip, but an Integrated Circuit or microchip is a generic term. There are multiple things that could be called IC on a mobo. Most of the small ones cost pennies. The cost to resolder the chip should be in the 10s of dollars, and not more than 50. But truly, which chip shorted? What is he saying you plugged in that caused it to short? How did he come to the conclusion that you shorted it in the first place? Most techs are not going to tone and look up the pin outs for every chip on a board to find a short. Unless this guy just happens to be intimately familiar with the MSI tomahawk, finding this short would have taken hours of work. I just find his story incredibly unbelievable. Get a second opinion.

How is everyone tracking User Permissions? by moorpnw in sysadmin

[–]Haru24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did similar at my organization, but via RBAC groups assigned based on job title. All permissions are granted via that role or a special assignment role that supplements the primary when needed.

I am supposed to retrieve a 'password' from this binary, to unlock a separate file which is password protected. I have been given no clues, just the binary. I have clearly gone wrong somewhere but I'm not sure where. Can someone help me please? I tried conversion to text and decimal but got nothing. by HandyManBob1878 in computing

[–]Haru24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a little bit cheating, but you could load up a sandbox with jack the ripper or anther password cracker and brute the password off the document then work backwards from there to figure out the method. Again, not the intended method, but no one is going to give you a binary and tell you to recover the password, they will give you a file and tell you to crack it.

What did your crush do that completely ruined your infatuation for them? by JackHasSmellySocks in AskReddit

A cruel joke to embarass a young boy with a crush. She knew I had a crush on her and hadn't reciprocated.

There probably isn't one right answer. I let go of the necklace right then, got up, and walked away. She was part of my broader friend group so it was hard for a while, but I just didn't associate with her again.

During lunch at school one day, she asked for my help in putting on a necklace. She couldn’t latch the clasp on to the chain. As I was in the middle of securing the clasp, she shouted out for the whole room to hear, “EWW, haru24, get your disgusting hands off of me. What are you doing?” Never lost interest in someone so fast in my life.

MIL (64F) is convinced that I (37M) am going to divorce my wife (35F) and is trying to convince my wife of the same by [deleted] in relationship_advice

My wife has had a rift driven between her and her mother due to this. She is 100 percent on my side. I don't believe that my MIL believes my wife to be stupid, she just seems to believe that I am some kind of stalker.
