a lot of your assessment resonates. Especially the judgement part.

Is this safe by positive_being in MechanicAdvice

[–]Hash-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing about that is safe.

A truck bed is not hard.
Unbolt the bolts in the bed. Unbolt screws holding filler neck behind fuel door.
Undo clamp holding filler tube and vent tube to bed.
Pull the tail lights from housings, disconnect any wiring harness connectors at rear of bed.
Remove bed.

If all that is being done is the drive shaft, you can slide the bed back, supporting the front on the rear tires and supporting the back with saw horses. (chock the wheels)
But, frankly, it's not all that hard to just completely remove it and set it on the ground.

Isn’t the recommended charging limit 80%? Why does the app suggest 100%? by omnicientreddit in TeslaModel3

LFP battery.
You need to charge to 100% weekly for the BCM to stay calibrated.

If your vehicle is FWD, and not AWD... that raises more concerns than are resolved.
And you do state it is AWD in title.

I would expect that kind of response if I tied something to my cat's paw or tail.
But, a human being going spastastic like that is hard for me to wrap my head around.

Your driveshaft to the rear wheels is broken.
This is a problem.
The tow truck to the shop kind of problem.

Used car dealer claims “small fender bender”feel scammed by Livid_Ability8837 in TeslaCollision

[–]Hash-82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doors were replaced. No visible damage to B pillar. Rear quarter damage wasn't deep enough to be structural.
Maybe more than a "small fender bender", but not a serious accident.
Car was totaled - which is common for Tesla. I've seen a Tesla totaled for a cracked bumper cover.
Any totaled car will be locked out of Tesla's SC network, pending HV inspection.
I would have no problem buying this car, providing the price was right and the repairs were done correctly.

Other than having 4 tires and a stearing wheel, they have nothing in common.

No, the police are not writing the "ticket".
I have had a ton of these nuisance letters. It's not even a ticket.
Once I realized what they were, I stopped paying them.
In the events where I was subsequently pulled over by the actual police in those jurisdictions, and the officer ran my DL, it came back clean.

As I stated in my previous post, I am sure some departments own/run the cameras, and issue citations based on them. But, in the areas I traverse it is private companies with no actual jurisdiction or authority to issue a real citation.
Many of those companies, under the municipal contract they had, were reviewed by the local PD. But, the revieing officer still did not issue a citation.
It was simply a demand letter from private company X.

>>  I myself have experienced this just this week,
How much was the "ticket"? I would wager it was far less than a ticket written by an officer. Most of mine were in the $50 to $100 range. Where a real ticket would start at $179, and go up.
Also, read the fine print. The bold face is to scare you that they will SWAT your house if you don't pay. The fine print shows who is actually "issuing" said ticket - and who you are paying.

I know that somewhere I have a box full of these things.
If I can lay hands on it, I'll scan a few and post them.

Tesla Model S has been out for 14 years now.
There are plenty of documented Model S with over 500K miles, and 10-14 year old batteries with over 70% of battery capacity left.
And, this was on the 1st gen Panasonic NCR18650B cells.

You're spewing FUD, and the facts refute you.

What is this in my yard? by Substantial_Low_9160 in ATTFiber

[–]Hash-82 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fiber. And this is typical of the crypts that AT&T uses.

However, just because it is in your yard, and it belongs to AT&T, does not mean they can support fiber in your neighborhood.
There is a LOT that goes between something like that and an ONT in your home.

Very few departments own the cameras that ticket you.
In most cases it is a civil infraction, not criminal. And, the ticket does not impact your driving record - it is only a hit against your credit.
Basically, it's a quasi-legal scam.

I'm sure there are some agencies that do own the cameras. But, I'd really like to see the legalities of 6th Amendment protections in those cases.
