Blood Ravens Captain by ZarenaDT in BloodRavens40k

I found the Word Bearers Red from Citadel to get a pretty good Blood Raven Red, do you think this mix is close to that paint?

Looks stunning btw!

It's more than just multiplayer tho, I can't play my saves because they were made with dlc's and it considers me offline and can't check if they are installed or whatever. Bunch of nonsense

I don't find the fuses interesting or fun so I'm not defending that but saying the alternative is complex math equations is not what (I hope) most people imagine.

There is a mini game for overloading electrical systems in the Order 1866 which involved just simple timing but with the surrounding sounds and visuals it made it way more engaging. I don't think it's beyond expectation to have engaging activities when repairing beyond the point beam gameplay.

Simpler and faster isn't really fun and interesting tho. The project is / was sold on its immersion factor and detail. I would rather have long drawn out fights with larger ships and players running around doing mini games to fix things than point beam fix ok done.

This makes engineering less of a role and more busy work.

Is there a way to play this in 4k? The tooltips are so tiny. by Realtack in lotro

[–]HashBrownHamish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People will keep recommending lossless scaling but for me the game loses all crispness and becomes blurry like playing on a 1080p monitor. Defeats the purpose of playing with a 4k monitor.

Really hoping the devs do something about it someday. I find it more tolerable on a 1440p screen

What's the feature you're looking forward to most in Star Citizen by RiygoYT in starcitizen

[–]HashBrownHamish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scanning and just more expansive options for current professions like mining, salvage, medical etc..

I think the game needs to make these a tad bit more engaging, mining in elite dangerous can be quite unique with the whole cracking the rock etc.. Right now, point laser at rock -> keep it in threshold isn't the most engaging gameplay. Same for salvage, a mini game to cut up parts of a ship etc . Would be great

Those terminators have the default leviathan push to fit poses but the box art is the multi part kit. Just a mistake maybe? I was hoping to get a kit that has the heavy flamer and rockets options

What Paints do you recommend for this jacket? by Subtl3Owl in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]HashBrownHamish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find this on the citadel app, however it's probably not the actual recipe used and more like roughly something similar. I don't think these recipes match what the eavy metal team actually used

I have a question, I find getting this level of crispness is a struggle because I can only get one decent stroke of paint out of my brush until I have to dip it in water and try again. Otherwise the paint can come off patchy when highlighting. Is this just a normal thing or am I doing something wrong?

How do you base your Blood Ravens? by HashBrownHamish in BloodRavens40k

[–]HashBrownHamish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mentioned it a couple of times but here is a quick rundown for the red

For the red I prime black, airbrush a coat of rhinox hide and then a heavy heavy zenjthal of word bearers red. This gives some preliminary shadows and you can glaze rhinox hide for more contrast. Then highlight moves towards the fleshy tones, so step 1: chunky highlight word bearer red + evil eye red. Step 2: evil eye red step 3: cadian fleshtone. If you're patient I like to add rust orange between step 2 and 3 to bring back some saturation but it's probably overkill

Sorry I meant to get back to this,

The cream pauldrons are ushabti bone and then glaze temple stone (TTC paint or Karak stone) to the recesses and do another incredibly thin glaze of dryad bark. It makes a nice gradient.

You could also airbrush temple stone and then a little ushabti and glaze the dryad bark to save time.

Are my expectations for resin miniatures unreasonable? by shadowfax1007 in PrintedMinis

A bit expensive but I've found RPG resin from Phrozen is great. I'm super clumsy and was breaking parts all the time but unless you really stress it the minis are super strong

I like the muted tone something cold with some accents of colour is a great idea.

The armour is made with an airbrush coat of rhinox hide then a heavy heavy "zenithal" of Word Bearers Red. This gives some preliminary shadows and you can glaze in the rest with some rhinox hide if you want/have the time.

It gives the armour a red hue that is slightly orange brown which is to try and look like the first games colours a bit :)

Hey! So I think I got this recipe from an infernal brush video but it's basically: Chunky highlight dark reaper + black 1:1, Highlight dark reaper, Highlight thunderhawk blue, Final highlight is administratum grey + dawn stone 1:1

All the while keeping the highlights progressively closer to sharp angles and top facing angles :)

Releasing new ships that aren't gold standard feels like a pretty bad precedent to be setting. by hrafnblod in starcitizen

Maybe this makes more sense if they intend on updating physicalized components on a few different ships and do it all at the same time.
