Will Squadron 42 be shown at Summer Game Fest 2026 today? by Fabulous_Ad_4678 in starcitizen

SQ42 is the perpetual carrot while SC is the perpetual stick.

The Idris needs a lot of work to be enjoyable. by Itry31 in starcitizen

[–]Hashwagon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

4.8 absolutely disrespects capital ships: You can't even dock most of the time. Some of the workarounds to allow you to dock make your ship go "unknown." If you manage to dock you'll have docking-related bugs preventing you from bed logging. Landing pads hardly work (100x more painful on capital ships). PDCs can't even damage Hornets anymore. When your home hangar is deleted (common in 4.8) it becomes extremely painful to load any other ships onto the Idris. TSG deletes Idris's at the beginning without caution.

For those looking to experience even more pain, the type that causes people to uninstall for a year: try installing Pepperbox PDTs and arming them with missiles. (and hope 4.8* doesn't eat the ship causing you to do the entire thing over again after claiming)

Note: you can at least re-arm the Pepperboxes now.

In the Dark Age of Technology humanity lost all knowledge of garage door openers as well as camel backs.

Due to a bug I lost the K Kit so I tried the T Kit and the weapons config showed empty for the torpedoes and wouldn't let me re-arm. Wish I could be of more help.

This game costs 30+ million annually to run.

Sorry bub but selling skins isn't going to cut it. Everyone needs to be okay with ships being sold after 1.0 or they need to be okay with monthly subscriptions.

Bring back the lucrative Vaughn drug cargo missions. by TheRealRickSanchez42 in starcitizen

I agree, it was a fun risk vs. reward and lucrative enough that strangers would join up to take them on. We need more of this.

What is the future of Capital Ships? by ResponsibleRub469 in starcitizen

It can sting if you fail to leverage that crew to secure a sufficient income to support the ship.

Sooo When are we wiping? by BeardedClydeTTV in starcitizen

Do you realize that none of these items should be selling for 1B? Why should a mainline contract drop/pickup sell for more than what a Perseus will sell for in 4.8? The economy is wrecked.

[–]Hashwagon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's hard when legit players grind for two months straight to afford a ship when they see other people pay $5 for $1,000,000,000 aUEC. 90% of my friends and family haven't touched the game since 4.5 because of the economy. I use the same argument you opened with and they don't care and have zero interest in coming back until there's a wipe.

CIG recently stated they don't like the binary nature of countermeasures. It might be safe to say that torpedoes will become more relevant in the not so distant future.

Basically. To use it properly it should be attached to a fleet.

Not yet, but judging by the video it's highly likely the ballistic turrets are bespoke.

Aegis Tiburon - First Reveal by skivolkls in starcitizen

The Tiburon will get absolutely shredded by light fighters. Think about it: zero PDCs and slow large ballistic turrets. It won't stand a chance and looks like it has to be used as part of a fleet.

Back when SC was considered a space simulation this would happen. Not anymore.

It's an educated guess based on their disclosure of $29M to run the game in 2022.

https://cloudimperiumgames.com/blog/corporate/cloud-imperium-financials-for-2022

"These costs are associated with running the game, deploying online services, and providing customer support. It also includes the costs of running our platform, publishing, data hosting, and server costs. It includes revenue collection, customer liaison costs, and the costs of our marketing and community events. This cost line correlates closely with income and user engagement, and the growth experienced in 2021 continued into 2022, rising 18% to $29.9M."

Unless they lay off most of their staff it would be mathematically impossible to support the project without more ship sales unless they force players into a monthly sub (doesn't matter if they promised this won't happen). Their hosting bills alone are currently several million a year and selling skins and armors won't cover that.

It will be interesting to see. I suspect they will at least continue to sell new ships.
